I now understand why the good ratings are from years ago. This office and the entire Schwab platform have become impossible to deal with. Some of the employees (phone calls from Schwab) have been extremely rude. I wanted to like this company and have money to invest, but I will look elsewhere. I have an account at Merril (I am very happy with them) and am looking for another brokerage firm for diversities sake.. I'll keep looking for that place.

I completed a Schwab web form which prompted an outbound call encouraging me to set up a meeting with local office. Local office called, we agreed on setting up appointment. My wife and I sat in the lobby until about 30 minutes past our appointment time. Meeting was about an hour. Next steps: I would get an email with a summary of options we discussed. Never heard from Nick again. No integrity, just apathy. Waste of our time.

I opened my app today and noticed 20% of the value of my account was gone. One of my largest holdings was registering a zero value. I called and was told by the agent that since it was a pink sheet stock, Schwab register it as a zero value. Nothing they can do. Well there’s something I can do, I closed my account by switching to Fidelity.

Dealing with this office made me look forward to the DMV. The agent's means of resolution include repeating herself as a means to an end combined with actively making herself "unavailable" despite posted business hours. Eventually I had no choice but to show up for a second time as she never once picked up the phone line when I called. Outgoing calls only, how original. The best part was when she claimed I was making her feel uncomfortable because I was frustrated and voiced my opinion sternly after being jerked around for so long by her and her various colleagues. She never even asked to see the bank documents and utility bills they'd requested I bring with me even though I'd already submitted them through fax and email weeks ago. Just one more waste of my time and waste of paper. While it may not be her fault entirely, specifically being forced to deal with 30+ different people over the course of nearly two months, a little common courtesy and politeness could have just as easily turned things around. It was absolutely warranted under the circumstances as this was my one and only face to face opportunity.Rather than try and understand what I'd been through, how far I'd travelled to meet with her(as directed by their support), or pay any attention whatsover to the energy and time they'd sucked away from my life(and that of my wife as well), she instead treated me like a stray dog having security and her front desk do her bidding for her, calling the cops and behaving badly overall in general.. Their basis for demanding I leave was that other people could hear me and that was most important. I did not curse or threaten anyone and it is not my fault their cubicle walls are cheap and paper thin. I admit to being upset but I was not screaming or behaving in a way that should inspire such a drastic reaction. In the end there was no apology for incorrectly flagging my account for fraud/ID theft and zero concern whatsoever for all the damage it had caused me. Now I understand better why these people actively avoid issuing written correspondence. They're aware of their broken system and the frustration it causes. But they simply don't care. Otherwise they would not prop these back office fraud people as gods who answer to no one but themselves. Never corresponding directly with their target suspect. Shoot first and hide in the back for the duration must be their motto. It is absolutely infuriating as each call in is like starting over at square one. Not 5 times. About 40 times in my case.Their numerous assurances that my account hold would be released upon showing ID in branch was absolute rubbish. It's clear now all of it was nothing but giant big waste of time and energy from start to finish. It took this ridiculous office visit and the police being called(I assume) before they finally sent me the funds via check today. Words cannot express how frustrating it's been dealing with these people. They make me sick.

These people drove from Dallas to East Texas (4 hours) three times for a $75,000 investment but failed to mention to my 80 year old father that he needed a beneficiary form. Or so they say. We don't have a copy of it. ALL his other investments had one because they were bought thru reputable companies and were provided for signature. I worked for Edward Jones for years and ALL customers were provided with a beneficiary page. Never mind he has a will, one that they have never even asked to see. The beneficiary form that clients fill out only indicate what the wishes of a client are.... this is also the purpose of a will. We were told to get an affidavit of heirship, which we did to no avail, now being told we need a Muniment of Title that will cost my Mother $1750 to get and I still have absolutely no confidence we will receive the money then. we've called repeatedly and our care advocate (Robert Romero) simply cannot be spoken with. I dial his extension, get someone else who ultimately tells me I have to speak with him and that he is unavailable. Thank God he only invested a fraction of his estate with these thieves. This is a company that preys on elderly...someone should consider a class action law suit...

When a family member passes away, you would like to think that a company your dear, deceased family member trusted, would be caring and responsive, considering that you just lost a close family member. You better pray that they don't have any of their estate invested with this Charles Schwab outfit, though. No matter if you follow the guidelines to the letter to close the account, and distribute the family's funds to the survivors, you will be met with a wall of bureaucratic delay of epic proportions. In other words, Hell will freeze over before you will ever see one red cent of the estate if it's in Schwab Money Prison. This is where you visit their offices, bring in all the requested, notarized documents, call repeatedly, but are Unable to get anyone to actually cut a check. This is truly the TarBaby of investment companies, your relative puts their money in, but Schwab makes it impossible to get out, because even if you do everything they ask, there is always one more thing, and of course after that, it's another thing, and another after that. If we ever get our deceased's investment funds out of Schwab's Money Prison, we are going to file a formal complaint with the SEC, FINRA and any other govt agency we can. We will never hesitate to tell everyone we know how this company heaped a large helping of stress on our family when they were grieving the loss of of their family member. Charles Schwab, worst corporate citizen, ever.

It might have been just my experience but I would advocate to just call the number online and talk to representative and save your time coming to the physical location.

If there was NEGATIVE STARS I would give this company -5. I am a public speaker and a business coach and have lectured around the world for 22 years, so they really messed with the wrong person, they shall be my ongoing example for my lectures about HOW TO LOSE CUSTOMERS. I was testing the experience of investing with them with little money to go ahead in 90 days and starting investing 6 digits .....But they TOTALLY MESSED UP BIG!!!...........They were happy to take my investment $ 8.000, but when I want to authorize my husband to use the account on my behalf they were RUDE on the phone, totally unprofessional and pass the call one to the other and not resolve my request, not even LISTENING to me, waisted my precious time (which is money) on the phone with them for hours while they keep reading scripts, all they did is TALK and TALK OVER the customer (me) and not listen, not honor the request. This was simply THE WORSE CUSTOMER SERVICE I EVER EXPERIENCED, I am taking my investments some other company this one needs massive customer service training, so imagine how bad they will be at giving me my money back, now that I shall go invest some company that has a clue about customer service.

I can't believe that Charles Schwab got such negative reviews. I been with them since 2007 and been amazed by all the agents, services, and managers. They are my favorite bank and I have banked with BOA, US bank, Chase, Wells Fargo, and Union Bank. Reason why: 1. Every time I called in, my issue was addressed by people in the US and not oversees. They are all knowledgeable and if they do not know the answer, they will go find out for you. They don't just keep passing you around and transfer over transfer to another agent. 2. I have never waited more than 10 mins for an agent to answer the call. 3. Most importantly is when I travel to different countries, I need a reliable bank. I have been in a jam and could not access my credit card or other bank accounts in a different country and when I called Schwab they understood my situation and allow my atm limit to increase substantially to obtain cash from my account. I wouldn't know what I would do in a different country with no access to my accounts. My disclosure is that I am a loyal client. A bank that you can just call and talk to someone (not a machine or oversee) right away is worth more than an extra %.

Bizarrely bad. Started an online account. Everything seemed okay, money transfer from bank completed, funds successfully registered. Then, I tried to trade on the spp. Got a warning I couldn't trade, but no more information given. Finally, managed to get someone on the phone. They informed me they couldn't establish my identity, DESPITE having taken money from my account. Stated they had sent a mail notification to my address, which wasn't received. Now I have to jump through hoops establishing my identity, despite living in the same town for twenty years, having several bank accounts, s long-term job, etc. I am now ordered to present myself at a branch in person with additional information. Or so they think. I'm just appearing so I be there to see my account is successfully closed and then I'll switch promptly to ETrade.

New feature sweeps all my cash from my money market into Schwab Bank which only pays .15%. Local offices are for bringing in new accounts which they charge .9% a year and provide poor service on my accounts. Antiquated trade screens. Big promises for years to upgrade and really is same old order entry. Feels like their gain is my loss.

Never put your money with Charles Schwab. I thought it was a company with good reputation, but I should have checked first. The problem: I created a brokerage account, and then created a bank account with them. I then put $1,000 to fund the account. A few days later I log into my account online, but I get the message "your account has been closed". I called Charles Schwab and they said that my account was closed due to a "business decision" and because they heard a bad report from equifax (supposedly). I checked my credit score online and there is nothing wrong with it. In any case, they closed my account without even letting me know, and took my money.
