Our family was very moved by our tour of the Carter House by Jeff. He not only shared the history of the property but helped the entire story to come alive through visualizations and demonstrations that gave our kids many valuable lessons to consider for their own futures.

We recommend purchasing the 3 home ticket tour. We stopped at the Carter House first and I wish I could remember our tour guides name but I can't. She was fantastic! She was so great at explaining the history of what truly happened back in 1864. If you love history, you have to do these tours. If those walls could talk.

Our guide was great. She took us through the home and we tour the grounds as she explained how the battle of Tennessee was staged. The bullet holes in the home even today was incredible! I would highly recommend this home!

Our family loved this experience. It was perfect for us to explore with the senior family members. The parking was a bit tricky as the property is under construction for expansion.

Don’t miss this tour if you’re a history buff—or even if you’re not. I learned quite a bit about the battles in Middle Tennessee. We did the house tour and the guide was knowledgeable and funny (thank you , W also did the Carnton and Rippa Villa tours and they were all three excellent and well worth the time and money. I am glad we were able to do all three in one day. The Carnton tour and this one really brought home what it might have felt like to be the family living here during the Battle of Franklin. Very moving, and I highly recommend all three tours.

Amazing Tour at the Carter House
Our tour of the Carter House with Willie as our guide was absolutely outstanding. From start to finish, he delivered a thoughtful, thorough, and engaging experience that truly brought the history of the Battle of Franklin to life.
Willie has a gift for storytelling—he didn’t just recite facts, he gave context, perspective, and emotion that helped us better understand both the battle itself and the human cost behind it. His passion for the subject was clear, and his knowledge was impressive without ever feeling overwhelming.
The way he tied the history of the house, the grounds, and the people who lived through that time together made the tour not just informative, but deeply meaningful. We walked away with a much greater appreciation for the site and the history it preserves.
👉 If you’re visiting the Carter House, ask for Willie. You’ll leave with more than just facts—you’ll leave with a story you’ll never forget.
