I was looking for wall caps and a fireplace hearth and finally came to J&R after going 6 other places. Chris helped me out and was fantastic! I wasn’t sure about his recommendation, but took a sample home and it was perfect!! I love the final look and I’m thrilled the hearth is one piece with no seams. Thanks Chris for going above and beyond to help me complete my project!

Went by here yesterday after receiving a recommendation from a local landscaping company. I needed to look at some options for a stone pathway. When I got out of my car, I was immediately met by a rep (Nathan??) that walked me through the options and helped me with my decision. When it came to getting the stone delivered, they originally said it would be next Wednesday. When I told them I needed it by Monday, they rearranged some things and I got it delivered today! Wow! Just wanted to say thanks for a great experience.

Drove 30 minutes to a place I bought many rocks from a few years ago, and plenty of dirt. Didn't call ahead because pretty good service a few years go. This time I was told I could not have the rocks needed until I bought the ones on a pallet that had already been clearly picked through and were basically shards. The young guy helping me was polite as in, You mean I can't buy what I need? "Yessir". You mean I have to buy your junk before I get what I need to rebuild my wall? "Yessir." Don't go to this place unless you intend to buy a whole bunch of stuff, otherwise you will get treated the way I was today. I have to add, I was told I would have to start from the top and work my way down. I couldn't even buy the crummy rocks below the lousy rocks.

Went here yesterday to buy some top soil to top dress my lawn. Criminal that they call this top soil, it is basically large rocks and clay. Started to rain as i spread which made it un spreadable. Other than the quality of the product they sell the experience was fine. They did say they were discontinuing top soil but that wasn't top soil and the should feel SHAME!Shame, ringing of bell, Shame

I have gone here many times over the past 5 years. Randy and his team have always been very nice, helpful, polite, knowledgeable and eager to help with whatever my project is. They have an awesome selection and the prices are very reasonable. I highly recommend them and will most certainly use them again.

Wouldn’t waste my time nor money here. Poor customer service, super unorganized and employees are treated unfairly. Products are over priced. Highly recommend going somewhere else for your stone/garden needs!

My first order years ago went well. That was before I knew much about large dirt, rock, and mulch orders. I have since ordered here at least three times and also ordered a few other places. Probably spent about $2000 over the course of three years.Originally got around 10 ton 3/4 rock which is measured by the ton. Considering jr measures by the ton (0.8 yards) and franklin stone measures by the yard, I’d recommend franklin stone (same prices). The franklin stone had less pieces smaller than 3/4” too.I also would be willing to bet jr stone measures their loads by weight and franklin stone does not. It seems like when I measure my orders post delivery, I get very near exactly the yard-age ordered. Sometimes it feels like 0.2 yards less counting wheel barrow loads. Also could just be a bit stuck in the truck (that can happen to anyone). I think i got 52 wheelbarrow loads for an order of 16 yards which felt a bit low, but I could’ve been over filling the wheelbarrow also the load seemed to almost cover what I had measured anyways. With other places you feel like they give a little extra which can be either good or bad. Good if you can find a spot for it. Bad if you’re on a tight timeline. After ordering several different large orders of each material type, im 50/50.I feel like you can get more for your money in most cases somewhere else. I will still order here when it makes sense. The topsoil looked to be reasonably high quality (high clay content but dark brown indicating some biological activity). I don’t know where it came from but it looked like it could’ve come from an area that is routinely wet (not that that means anything). I’ve also bought fill dirt elsewhere before which was definitely 100% clay. So this order initially seemed better than the last random place I went with. Unfortunately, mine somehow ended up being mixed with a bunch of rocks (around 3 wheelbarrow fulls or 18 cubic feet). Most rocks are larger than my hand. Normally I wouldn’t care about the rocks but I live on an unusual property which has been tilled fairly deep and there were previously little to no rocks here. So i had to strain the dirt myself. It’s no problem, i just had assumed top soil meant the dirt was strained as opposed to fill dirt. Just something to be aware of. Also it did seem like they ran the tiller through the clay dirt order, which I greatly appreciate. The mulch seems like the best price I could find locally. It looked to be at least double if not triple shredded, and composted for probably about 1.5 years (18 months). It fed the trees quickly and was utilized well. The color stayed after rain storms and still is uniform and consistent to this day. In the future I think I’m just going go with a local tree company though and let nature do it’s thing.Overall im mostly satisfied, but i’d still recommend shopping around a bit and asking people what “good dirt” is and what it is strained through or tested with.

I built a DIY flagstone patio and got tons of great flagstone stone, advice and customer service from this family business. My go to place for bulk landscape supplies.
