I took a tour of Primrose School of Cool Springs in Franklin, TN, on February 6th. I was excited to tour a new daycare facility for my 6.5 month old son who will need full-time childcare this summer. As the director showed me around, we stopped and observed the toddler classroom where my son would be placed. We watched from the door in the hallway as the kids came inside from the playground. As the kids continued to come inside, their attention was drawn to items in the room (play mats, toys stored in the cubby/storage bins, lunch tables, etc). I was smiling watching them move around the room, picturing how my son would interact/socialize with other children and how excited he’d be from spending time outside. Then to my horror, a teacher grabbed a little girl in an extremely rough way and slung her over her shoulder harshly (also not an appropriate way to CARRY a 1-2 year old child), walked her over to the cubbies and plopped the girl down and then SCREAMED at the little girl - in her face - to pick up the mess she made. This same teacher shoved a little boy to a seated position on the floor and SCREAMED at him - literally in his face - to pick up building blocks he had dumped out. I was horrified. The way she handled both children physically, emotionally, and mentally had me in a panic. The worst part was - the director didn’t intervene. She was watching everything unfold with me by her side and didn’t step in, didn’t acknowledge what was happening, and kept talking to me about my son in the classroom. I stopped her as she kept talking and said absolutely not - this is NOT okay; what that woman is doing needs to be stopped. She said - you’re right, I plan to address it. I was so taken aback and was literally in shock. I turned around and walked out. I was shaking when I got to my car and drove away in tears - the teacher, director, and franchise ruined my excitement of putting my child in daycare, and instead instilled fear, discouragement, and sadness for the children in that classroom. If any of the parents could see what that teacher was doing and how she interacted with their children, your daycare would be shutdown, end of story. I am livid, heartbroken, and sad that both the teacher and director ever thought it was ok to act like that. If someone is willing to do that in front of a parent taking a tour of the facility, what in the world are they doing behind closed doors?!I was emailed by the director with an apology a few hours after; she said that she addressed the scenario with the teacher and counseling/coaching plans were put into place. I also filed a complaint with the franchise and was never contacted again after doing so - not by their HQ and not by the owner of the Cool Springs location.

My daughter has been searching for a daycare and went to visit today. She called me crying because she witnessed a toddler being jerked up by his arm and placed on the ground harshly - being told to “pick up those blocks.” My daughter said the child- toddler- was doing nothing wrong! The director only stated she would take care of the situation after my daughter called her out and said the behavior was so inappropriate! She would never place her child here and our hearts ache for this child! Beware!!!

My wife and I have had a great experience with Primrose Cool Springs. I can’t speak for any other Primrose location but we highly recommend Primrose Cool Springs. The owner and staff are wonderful!

Primrose School of Cool Springs sets the standard for early childhood education in the Franklin/Cool Springs area. I worked for Primrose for a year and their staff carries a sense of excellence in all they do. They have fantastic curriculum, healthy and delicious food prepared by their amazing chef and most importantly a strong sense of safety.

I loved working at Primrose of Cool Springs! The teachers are wonderful! They love the children and are passionate about their education and the care they receive. I learned so much from both the teachers and the management while I was there. The owner, director and office staff care deeply about their employees and the families that attend the school. It was such a positive experience for me and for the many students I had in my class over the years!

I am positive that the school must be great since it is rated high, but I did not have a very good experience with this school. I have been wanting to place my daughter in this school for a month now, and I have called a few times trying to schedule a tour, but I was told that I need to speak to Susan about the current openings. I left my contact info with them twice, but unfortunately I was never contacted by anybody. Very disappointing!!

The Primrose model is great. I feel that he is safe and is in a superb learning environment. I also like that the same kids move up with each other - he has had the same friends since he was two. I also like the standards they follow even with the daily meals.

I am amazed how much my son learns at school. He brings something new home every day. It is a real treasure watching him learn and grow, and we have Ms. Hannah and Ms. Bailey to thank for that. They make learning fun for our son.

I have been extremely satisfied with Primrose of Cool Springs. The care, the education, the cleanliness, and the overall atmosphere have been exactly the quality I expect as a parent.

They are always available and very hands on. I can't remember a question of mine not being answered or my child's care not being first priority - I am always aware if she has a boo boo or just has had a bad day.
