Harpeth River State Park is a fun, small place with beautiful views and a lack of crowds, offering a peaceful and grounding experience. Visitors enjoy kayaking and hiking, with three main trails ranked from easier to more difficult. The easier trail leads a short distance to a waterfall from a man-made tunnel. A middle trail is longer and walks along the Harpeth River with some more challenging areas. The more difficult Bluff Trail features a steep incline and steps, requiring more energy and skill, but rewards hikers with an amazing overlook that looks for miles over the valley. The park includes the Narrows of the Harpeth, Gossett Tract, and Hidden Lake areas. There is plenty of parking, though it can be a walk from the trailhead if the lower lot is full. A kayak ramp allows for easy drop-in, and dogs are allowed on leash. A portable potty is available. The roads in and out are narrow, so drivers should proceed slowly.
Beautiful views, some steep narrow trails but we managed with 6 kids- one of which was 3 and walked mostly alone. Parking is a pretty good walk from the trailhead especially if you can’t get a spot at the lower parking. Overall great experience and can’t wait to visit again soon!

I always come back because of the lack of crowds. The bluff up at the top is so peaceful. The views around are so centering and grounding. Come for the free medicine.
