About Mound Bottom State Archaeological Area

Mound Bottom State Archaeological Area features a large grassy meadow with a nearby picnic area, a fitness trail with workout equipment, and a storybook trail for kids. Visitors can enjoy an excellent guided tour led by a knowledgeable ranger, who shares insights about Mississippian history and culture. The site offers a unique opportunity to see ancient Native American places of significance and understand how an ancient civilization lived.

    We took a tour with Sydnie to the mound bottom site and it was such an amazing experience. Sydnie was engaging, funny and incredibly knowledgeable about the area and all things associated with the culture surrounding the historical site.
