Mud Island Garage is located near Mud Island Park in Memphis, a unique and interesting spot with a mix of attractions and a slightly abandoned vibe. The area features a scale topographic map of the Mississippi River and the famous Memphis sign, making it a popular destination for visitors. However, the surroundings have a somewhat neglected appearance, with broken glass and graffiti on abandoned buildings, giving an abandoned yet beautiful atmosphere. The grass is well-maintained, indicating some upkeep, but the buildings appear to be in disrepair. Visitors should be cautious, especially in secluded sections and when accessing the bridge connecting the island to the city, as there are homeless residents in the area. Mud Island Park hosts various events, such as vegan block parties, offering food, drinks, music, and a large venue space with plenty of parking. The park and surrounding areas are quiet at times, with scenic views of water and the bridge, making it a peaceful spot for visitors. The dog park is a nice addition, featuring green grass, some park toys, and a view of the water and bridge. Overall, Mud Island Garage and its surroundings provide a mix of artistic, natural, and slightly neglected elements, making it a funky and recommended place to explore in Memphis.
Loved this, super cool sort of abandoned vibe. Bathrooms and all shops were not open. Glass broken in all buildings and lots of graffiti. Still so beautiful. Grass was mowed so it seems like it's being kept up, not sure what happened to the buildings. Nobody else was really there except for us, we visited in June.

Mud Island Park is a unique spot in Memphis. It has a scale topographic map of the full Mississippi river. It's also the home of the Memphis sign! Bring your walking shoes. There are no easy parking lots to see this unique art installation. It needs funding since the pandemic, but it's still a funky cool spot in this town.
