I was there a couple of years ago and thoroughly enjoyed it. I learned some things I didn't know.

Inaccurate information. Said sharks have developed taste for eating slaves. Complete nonsense. Agreed with earlier posts. If you are white be prepared to be blamed for slavery. Even though most whites didn’t own slaves. Little mention of the white abolitionists or hundreds of thousands of northern soldiers who died to end slavery. What a shame

Slave Haven Underground Railroad is a museum that tells the story of the struggle of slaves to gain freedom, human dignity and equality during slavery in the past. Jacob Burkle's house (which is now known as a museum) is a silent witness to efforts to provide assistance to fugitive slaves who escaped from slavery. In this museum, visitors not only learn about the history and conditions at that time, but can also feel the spirit of our brothers and our ancestors who fought for freedom from suffering and slavery.I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to visit this museum and even more so to experience the situation in the basement where there is no light and no heating. It was stuffy, dark and very cold. These were just some of the dire situations at the time that were definitely more difficult.May there be no more slavery towards fellow human beings created in the image of God.

A pre-recorded audio tour played as the tour guide moved us through various rooms of the house. We spent most of the tour standing in the hallway as the guide pointed to various images on the wall (as the recording described them). Very little time was spent actually looking at the features of the house that made it a safe haven on the Underground Railroad.I do believe the content and story of this historical site needs to be shared. However, in its current format, the museum is failing to deliver a high quality learning experience. Please do take the time to visit, but go in with the understanding that the museum was designed by an amateur curator.

Fascinating history of an era that America likes to forget (or worse, pretend didn't happen).Good guided tour.No photos allowed inside. ☹️

This was interesting up to a point, but it's a guided tour listening to a poorly read sound track of posters and portraits on the wall. Some good information, but simplistic and rather one sided on historical facts. Questions not encouraged and dealt with badly. Coded quilt and spiritual songs are tied into slavery meaningd. Totally unsubstantiated with the quickest of Google searches.

The tour guides use a Bluetooth speaker with a pre recorded message from an elderly lady to tell the history, rather than speak it themselves.Slavery is a difficult subject but it was very uncomfortable from the narration just bashing the White Man, with nothing said about the African Kings who sold their people into the slave trade.Part of the tour the guide sang along with the audio of the elderly woman singing Sweet Low Sweet Chariot. It was so awkward.I feel bad for the guides who are constantly telling this story, in this way, everyday. The 2*pictures of Obama I think were out of place considering it was Lincoln who got the Emancipation Proclamation with the 13th Amendment - none of this was said.

My husband and I attended a 1pm tour and we were not disappointed. The knowledge and facts of our history told here was appreciated and understood. If you haven’t been it’s a must. Affordable wisdom that is truly priceless.

So very worth your time - highly recommend everyone to visit this excellent little museum! It may be small, but it is packed with so much history and more exhibits than you can discuss in the hour-long tour (which itself is very well done). I learned so much and would love to walk through again to see what else I might have missed. The little shop has some great books and other items. If you have an hour, visit this museum!! You won't regret it.
