“A very good bookstore, built for slow, methodical treasure hunting. Meant to explore, not ask “Do you have…” and expect grab it and go.Inventory is not tracked by the owner, and while that has its pluses and minuses, I don’t mind at all. Owner is kind and friendly and has uniquely curated the store he wants. It is full of charm, nooks and crannies and the books you’d expect—but so many wild cards (rare or rarely seen authors, titles, editions). I under bought because I was overwhelmed.If I wasn’t just a tourist, I would be a regular finding my traditional favorites but also making discoveries. This is a store where the hunt pays off and broadens the mind again and again. Nashville is lucky to have to have it.And my wife adds, “Great cat!””

I was specifically looking for some books to help my mom with her genealogy search for our family in TN. He was very helpful and just a wealth of knowledge! I could have talked with him for hours! He truly knows his books! He was able to help me find several books that included my family. One of them even included several pictures of my grandfather and several other folks in our family! I’m going through a life event and I just so full of emotion and couldn’t stop my tears from coming when I asked for her help . I found a book and a journal and when I got home I saw a special note that I truly believe God placed on her heart to make me hear this. Just her simple words touched me and I will never forget her. “Had an old Bible refinished with new leather cover. It was my Mothers Bible. It came back like new. All of her underlining and information in ref to births,deaths. Military service etc were preserved. This Bible was over 100 years old. Very pleased.”

He is very knowledgeable about everything in the store. I always need help in chosing novels for my teenage daughters and my teenage niece. Jordan knows about various authors and has read many of the books. So he can give good guidance.My only complaint is I spend tooo much money and at least 2 hours in good intellectual conversation with young and old folks.I have bought a book from the author in the store on 2 occassions.This is nothing other than a gold mine.My strong advice to you is to GET THERE, and get there FAST .Btw,I don't live in Nashville. But I've been to or through there a bunch in the last 3 years. I always go to Alkebulan and Kingdom Cafe, just a walk down the street to get that soul food. Can't wait to catch the monday jam session at a club. Jefferson Ave is a black business incubator that is coming to life led by the conscious raising bookstore -ALKEBULAN!✊?✊?✊?”
