White's Mercantile, also known as "A general store for the modern tastemaker," is the brainchild of singer-songwriter Holly Williams. What began in 2013 as an attempt to fill a shopping void in Nashville, save an iconic old gas station, and revitalize the concept of a general store, has turned into a retail phenomenon boasting five locations across the Southeast and more on the horizon. The store is named after Williams' maternal grandparents, Warren and June White, who owned a mercantile in Mer Rouge, Louisiana, in the late 1800's and has been hailed as "impeccable...modern...always on point." This gift shop is described as "amazing," with a large selection of "gems and valuables," including kitchenware, clothing, dog toys, items for children, candy, and beautiful Christmas gifts. The environment is welcoming and warm, with "very sweet people behind the counter" and a "nice large store space full of treasures." Customers praise the "great selection of product," "amazing staff," and "incredible online customer service." The store is also described as "quaint" with "friendly staff and beautiful aesthetics," offering "unusual finds" and items from around the world, not just local goods.
White’s Mercantile was a fabulous place to get a gift! Ella and Sarah helped pieced together a beautiful collective gift that was so fitting for the recipient. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming in the store. Looking forward to returning!
