Food City is a locally owned, community-focused retailer with stores across several southeastern states. It is committed to providing value and has served customers for over 100 years, offering conveniences like pharmacy services, fuel centers, curbside pickup, and home delivery. Customer experiences vary. Some shoppers are pleasantly surprised by the good selection, including beautiful fresh flowers and baked goods, noting the store is clean with friendly staff. However, others report significant issues. Several reviews mention finding lots of expired items on the shelves, including dairy and gluten-free products, and note problems with incorrect inventory. The floor is sometimes not clean in areas where things are spilled. Checkout can be difficult, with long lines at self-checkout and instances of no traditional cash registers being open, which has caused some customers to leave their carts. While some feel the store is simple and good for a first job, others compare checkout problems unfavorably to other retailers. Shoppers advise checking expiration dates carefully on all items before purchasing.
Has great sales. Has most of what we're looking for in stock. Easier than going to Walmart. They have handicap carts. The deli is always good for lunch or dinner.

I just moved to Soddy Daisy. This was my first trip in the store. I was very surprised at the selection. I used to live in a big city so I wasn’t expecting a lot. I was definitely surprised. The fresh flowers are beautiful, and I definitely help myself to some baked goods.
