I’m leaving this review as a warning to anyone considering bringing their car here for transmission issues.
When my car started showing signs of transmission trouble, I took it to this shop. They told me they found the problem and charged me $2,700. The moment I drove it out, it wasn’t running right—gears wouldn’t shift properly, and the RPMs randomly shot up without the car moving. I called the shop, and they told me it would "drive weird" for a couple of weeks. I trusted their advice and kept driving it.
Not long after, my truck died right outside my house on my way to work. I had it towed back, and this time, they said it was a sensor issue, which would cost me an additional $930—apparently, at a "discounted" rate.
After the second time I brought my truck to this shop my car was leaking transmission fluid. When I called, they said it was "normal" after transmission work and not to worry unless it persisted. The leak continued, so I brought it back in. They told me they had to reseal the cap. Later that same day, my car completely stalled again. I had it towed back this morning, and now they’re saying I need a whole new transmission for $5,700.
Despite their repeated failures, they refuse to offer a refund. I’m 25 and have been saving for years to start my own business. Spending over $10,000 on car repairs is a huge setback. I originally trusted them because they claimed to specialize in transmissions, but after three visits, $3,830 spent, and hundreds more in towing and Uber fees, they now tell me I need a full replacement.
At this point, I don’t even trust them to get it right. I understand that no shop is perfect, but it’s unacceptable to repeatedly charge customers for failed repairs. I wouldn’t recommend bringing your car here from what I experience.
I have never left a review. I wanted to write something here because I wish I knew more about this place before bringing my car here.

Fast service, honest service, and great prices. Good mechanics are worth their weight in gold and I so appreciate the transparent service. I also look very young and naive and they didn't take advantage of that, which, many mechanics have in the past. I intend to make them my go-to for car repair from now on.

A couple weeks ago my truck was having trouble shifting into higher gears, I took it here and they performed a more thorough diagnostic at no cost and in less time than the dealer, they found that a sensor had gone bad and needed to be replaced and the truck was back on the road for less than $900 and a couple hundred miles later it's still shifting great! Before I took it here I went to the Toyota dealer in South Austin, even though I had an appointment it still took them a whole day to look at my transmission fluid and determine that my entire transmission needed to be replaced for 8k... and they charged almost $200 for that. So I'll be back to AAMCO!

Took vehicle in because no fan is life or death in Texas , gave an honest quote and offer 12 month warranty or miles . AC works great now. I would recommend.

I love AAMCO of Austin. I take all of my cars there from my old Jeep CJ to my wife’s BMW. James and Freddy are courteous, prompt and very knowledgeable. Car repairs are expensive but these guys keep the prices reasonable and they are very timely on the turnaround. If they say it will be done on a certain day, it is. Can’t say enough about the service they provide.

Don’t use this company. Worst service and experience I’ve ever had in my life. They put a bad transmission in my car and put a wire harness in incorrect. Like yall didn’t test drive it and hear the loud whining noise coming from the transmission when yall were finished. They had my vehicle for 3 months. Picked up my car and my A/C wasn’t working, windshield wipers weren’t working, Heater wasn’t working and had the nerve to tell me it wasn’t working when I brought it in, are u serious. Terrible customer service from James. Please find another company to use these guys are a joke!

They do total car care, not just transmissions and I’ve used them twice. Low prices, high-quality, quick turnaround, great customer service. AAMCO is a trustworthy name in the vehicle services industry.

Brought my car in for a repair. I initially suspected a problem with my clutch, but it turned out to be the brakes. They were friendly, professional, and helpful throughout the process. James and his team diagnosed the issue quickly, communicated with me at each step, and repaired my car the very same day, all for a very fair price. They have more than earned my business, and I'll be back.
