We initially came here to see a pop-up market that was outside this store but opted to go inside to escape the wind. This store is full of Japanese items from different sauces, to crackers, treats, and candy. There is also a market side to the store but it was pretty busy. We may come back later to check it out when it's not so crowded.

Such a cute grocery store! Great place to pick up onigiri and on weekends they have soft serve matcha and black sesame. So refreshing!

This is the only place to get every single item you need to make your home cooked Japanese meal. They have items you cannot find at any of the large grocery stores to complete your recipe. After returning from Japan, this was the only place that transported me back there. The onigiri is a nice treat to grab to add to your order for a snack or a cheap lunch that are all well made with love.

Everyone is so nice. Their lunch options are incredible. I'm grateful I get to live close to a store like this, it's a special part of the community. Thank you very much!

It’s a bit far from where I live but a treat when I go . Everyone is very friendly and welcoming. The karage and mayo onigiri ? is my favorite here and reasonably priced and have a wide selection . They have very cute kitchen products and a decent selection of food and cooking products ,and alcohol. Reminds me of Japan when I went to the convince stores recommended.

My go to place for some nigiri. They can make it to order so it's fresh. My favorite is the shrimp tempura nigiri. The proportion of rice to tempura shrimp is satisfactory! They also have a little Japanese market that ranges from spices to ramen to authentic Japanese cookies and snacks.

Cute little store - I came for the onigiri and they didn't disappoint! I do recommend coming early and maybe on a weekday because they can get pretty busy. They have onigiri out (if they haven't all been picked) or you can place your order for them to be made to order. As they're making your orders, they have bento boxes too and other items such as cooked items like croquette and what not. We got 3 onigiris and waited about 20 minutes as there were a handful of people in front of us too. Had come for ice cream too but it was a day they werent serving them. Aside from their cook stuff, there's a handful of snacks, frozen section and knick knacks here. if you're not in a rush, i recommend stopping by for the onigiris! Theyre a great snack to take to go and its nice that theyre made to order. Unless you come on a non-busy day where they're already out fo you.

Asahi Imports is my favorite place to get Japanese bowls, plates or anything Japanese locally. Some of my favorite Japanese bowls were from here and I love them all as they have pretty designs, they are made in Japan, microwaveable and durable! The staff are always friendly and courteous. Even though the place is quite small and doesn't have a large selection of Japanese groceries, surprisingly I often find some of good items here. Love their frozen sashimi grade fish, raw small fish, octopus, cooked CHASHU - braised pork belly (so good and perfect for a quick meal). We always get their cooked food (whatever is available that day); and Onigiri to-go and ohh let's not forget about their SOFT SERVE which is available Friday to Sunday only (I think, don't quote me on that but check with them to make sure). You can get Matcha flavor or black sesame or swirl with both. We always get the swirl with matcha & black sesame as their flavors are on point (don't taste artificial), so creamy and delicious!!! I highly recommend this place if you'd like to explore Japanese food & culture or expand your Japanese dinnerware collection (like I do)!

This place rips. Great rice balls, hard to find Japanese cooking ingredients, great bento boxes at a reasonable price. People who work there are all super nice. A local favorite!

I love Asahi! It’s truly a gem in this city. They make onigiris and bentos fresh and right in front of you. Please do keep in mind that they have windows of time and certain days they offer certain items so I would recommend checking their website beforehand. You can also text your order in and have it ready for you which I think is neat for a store! They have a variety of offerings from groceries to snacks that you can’t go wrong with. I used to get this matcha that was some of the best I’ve had for only $12. Some of their items are more expensive but I’m guessing that is because of the costs attached to bring them here. I wish this place was a national chain so more people could enjoy all they offer!

The onigiri selection was larger than I anticipated, I couldn’t decided which ones to try first. I decided to go with the karaage (sp!), tempura shrimp, the salmon and the fried pork ones. I thought they were reasonably priced. All were amazing, but my favorite was the tempura shrimp one.The grocery store section was also packed with a great assortment of all my favorite drinks, snacks and noodles. I also thought the staff was super friendly, and I liked how they reused their boxes instead of bags. I would recommend this place to my friends and family.

I've been doing an onigiri tour of Austin (here's a hint: HEB onigiri--if you can call it that--sucks) and Asahi still sells my favorite. Beautifully shaped, ample rice, good fillings, packaged neatly... so delicious! My favorites are karaage and ume tuna, but all are good. Everyone here is very friendly! Love this shop and all its offerings. If you're new to Japanese snacks, be sure to try dango (sticky rice balls covered in sugary soy sauce paste, found in the freezer section; thaw before eating), manju (red bean paste wrapped in sticky rice balls, lots of types found in the packaged section in the middle of the store), and if you wanna be a little more basic, Pocky!

Wonderful local business! The employees were very kind and welcoming. I found some of my favorite snacks I haven’t had in a long time! I tried two different Onigiri and the Ippin Chicken Karaage very delicious!
