Mike at Auto Techs is always great to work with. Offers sound advice and never tries to upsell you into more expensive repairs than you need for your situation. I started with an A/C repair for my wife’s Honda Pilot, and then brought my 14 year old Acura MDX. I will keep coming back.

I came in for a state inspection and also asked for a quote on brake replacement at check-in. The inspection process was excellent—quick appointment, fast turnaround, and no issues there. However, when I went to pay, I was surprised to find a fairly significant fee added for the brake inspection.
When I asked if there was normally a fee for simply getting a brake replacement quote, one of the mechanics responded with an “of course!” in a dismissive tone. I’ve gotten brake replacement quotes from several other places before, and this was the first time I’ve been charged a fee—so I don’t think it was unreasonable to ask.
While the inspection itself was great, the unexpected fee and the attitude from staff made the overall experience less than pleasant.

My husband and I have had nothing but wonderful experiences here. The team is so honest and accommodating. One example: Lamb's charged me $4,000 for a service they said was necessary. Less than two years later, they said the work failed and wanted to do it again for another $4,000. I took my car to Auto Techs for a second opinion and was told there was absolutely nothing wrong with the car.

A+ service, honesty, turn around time, and setting of expectations. I don't have the time or tools to wrench on everything on my wife's Subaru, so it's great to have pro mechanics whose work we can trust. She has never felt mansplained or otherwise treated inequitably, which is also huge. They have also fixed my bassist's clutch some years back and it's still kickin! Super recommend and definitely deserve a spot in the halls of mechanic fame!

Austin Auto Techs were the most honest, capable, and diligent mechanics I’ve ever used. Mike went to the effort of finding more affordable parts and actually fixing things so that they didn’t need to be replaced. In my case, they also gave a much more fair and honest quote than another shop. They did an excellent job fixing the suspension on my Tundra. I strongly recommend using Austin Auto Tech for important and/or emergency repairs.

Auto Techs has been our neighborhood mechanic for probably two decades. They do quality work at reasonable rates. They don't try to upsell you garbage you don't need, which is really refreshing. I've sent my daughter there several times because I know they're honest, and won't try to scam her. I absolutely recommend them, wholeheartedly. Good people, for sure.

Love them they are always in and out and they allowed me to bring my dog inside while we waited, also they never try to up-charge you or make you think you need extra work done when you came in for something else

By far the best mechanics in town. They've bailed me out on short notice more times than I can count, with great prices to boot. The guys are all incredibly nice and will make you feel welcome. Whatever the issue might be, they'll handle it swiftly and effectively.

The worst customer service I have ever encountered in Auto service industry.
Mike decided to come up with extra $50 from what he quoted me on the phone on the labor cost when I went to get my car.
He was rude and very arrogant.
Never going to this location.

Emailed to ask how much to install a serpentine belt and was told "Should be around $150 - $200" by Mike Wilson. Then after they've already done it they charged me an additional $80 diagnostic fee, bringing the total to $280, even though I already knew what the issue was when I brought it in and had their estimate. When I told them I had an estimate, he asked to see it, so I showed him the email. They used the fact that Mike had said "around" to justify charging 40% more than what I was originally told. Refused to explain why no one informed me of the mandatory diagnostic fee. Most places only charge for diagnoses if you decide not to have the work done there. After looking at the reviews, apparently this is common practice at this shop. I won't be back.

I was stuck in North Austin and dropped off my car with valve troubles. Although they were busy and almost on 4th of July vacation, these guys assessed the car the next morning, fixed a wire and only charged the diagnostic fee. Thanks for not only being helpful and dedicated, but also honorable. You guys are heroes in my book.
