Updated regarding oil change rates still being around (sorry owner).
btw, I've been there at least two dozen times with a number of different cars and projects. I am a "real customer".
This place is great. It's a great idea and the staff is mostly pretty awesome.
Unfortunately, they changed the pricing to a two hour min of $60ish. If you need to do a quick job, it doesn't make sense to come here anymore. Seems like the owner wanted to shift the focus of the shop to larger, project jobs, not sure.
Oh well, guess it's time to break out the ol' jack and stands.

Needed to change the transmission fluid and front & rear Diff fluid on my car. Dealer says transmission fluid is "lifetime". Sorry, no such thing as lifetime fluid if you want your car to keep running. The shop was the perfect place to do the job. Available tools and all....

Great guy, you’ll know who the owner is. He didn’t scam me or try to mess with me. Doesn’t lie, doesn’t overcharge. Dirt cheap in my opinion, one shop quoted me $12,500. He did it for $9800 out the door. I also got another brake repair that was extensive that I was quoted $1650. This guy did it for $850. Dirt Cheap, good guy. The area is a little bit urban, however I don’t trust anyone else with my vehicle. Come to this shop, don’t give anyone else your time, money, or business. He’ll do you right.

I needed a lift to do an oil change on my car and found Austin DIY on Google after a quick search. Took a chance and will most definitely be coming back. They have everything you need, staff is amazingly helpful and friendly plus you'll meet a bunch of people also wrenching together that are eager to just talk about DIY car stuff :) Omar was the mechanic helping me out today and he was awesome! Can't recommend this place enough, will be back for sure!

Can't speak highly enough of this shop. Owner and employees really are some of the most down-to-earth, honest people I've ever met. The shop was just what I needed for a multiday project, but I would also be great just to avoid the hassle of jackstands and the like while doing some maintenance. Would recommend this place for any sort of work you need done

I needed to change out the transmission fluid and filter on my car and did an oil change at the same time.
This was a perfect place to do both at once. I normally do my oil changes at home but didn't want to tackle the transmission service at home. They had all the equipment to capture all the old fluid and dispose of it. They also had containers to dispose of the old filters.
The price is very reasonable to get access to a lift which made this job way easier and a major plus was not putting old oil/fluid in my car to take to the local auto parts store for disposal.
If I have to do any other jobs like a brake fluid exchange or a coolant fluid exchange which would be easier on a lift, I will for sure come back.
They also had spring compressors for suspension work, 2 post lifts and fans to help make the work on hot days a bit more bearable.

I've gone there a couple of times when I needed to work on a vehicle. The place is nice and clean, the lifts work well, they have tools you can use and the guys that run the place are very friendly and helpful. I was able to get what I needed to do done w/o problems and I saved a lot of money, hassle and I know the job was done right. I am planning on going again soon as I need to hang some new mufflers on one of my cars.
I've been going there for years now for all my work whether I do it or they do it. Highly recommended.

Really friendly staff. Helped me setup and gave me tips. As a complete mechanical novice, I felt comfortable working and fixing my car. The satisfaction of doing it yourself is definitely worth it

Great place to do some DIY work on your vehicle! Several lifts to use. All indoors and out of the rain! All of the tools are included in the $30 bay rental.

Xavier was the best. He was so kind and took the time out of his busy schedule to help my son and I. His honesty meant so much to me. He immediately was like oh somethings hanging down underneath the car and he fixed it for us. I told my son this is what you want from a mechanic. He even gave advice to my 20 year old son to prevent it from happening again. Xavier is the reason we're a new customer. I've had bad experiences with mechanics in the past so I don't trust easily but with Xavier I could see right from the jump he was honest and a good person. Thank you for making our day easier.
