I don't understand how this is a teaching salon. I went with high hopes of having my hair bleached from Box dye, which they told me would not be a problem after they did a test strand. I came out bright red and asked the girl are you going to put a toner on it before you color it and she told me no "just trust the process!" I left looking like a pumpkin in October I called and complained they had me come in for two more sessions that I would be only charged app and they would do the same thing over and over, which makes no sense. Same thing happened the second time plus they chopped my hair to cut off the darker and it didn't fix that. She told me to wait two weeks, I'll never go back here n again I done know if they know how to do certain things. I understand the girls are students that are there and it's not all their fault. It's the instructors and the person who runs the place.

We went here to do facials for a friends birthday. This is a school so the aestheticians are all students. Because of that the prices are much cheaper than what they are for a fully licensed aesthetician. I had a really relaxing facial here. The student that I was paired with also brought in a licensed teacher to help her in the beginning when they analyzed my skin. it was a very cozy relaxing room with calming music. I fell asleep during my facial because I was so relaxed. I would definitely come here again because even though they are students, you don't really see too much of a difference, but the price is much cheaper so I think it's really worth it!

Came in for a 60 min facial followed by a haircut. This is my first time coming to an Aveda school. Facial- relaxing and good flow. i wish there was more shoulder massage but it was professional and enjoyable. Haircut- i wanted to get a trim, long layers, and face framing strands. I loved my haircut but it took much longer than i expected. I saw the reviews and people have said it took long so I made sure to have an ample amount of time, I was just starving haha. I appreciated the students for being so diligent and careful with the service. Instructors definitely knew what they were doing and checking the haircut. Would I come back? Yes i would. For the price, its for a good cause, and close to where i live!

When I first called the person the other end told me 55 for a foil hair color .ok I drive all excited an hour away and get there and check in and they all my name and next thing you know a different price . That's where I got so discouraged. Mind you not this is the first time I will have my hair done by another person I would say professional but not sure if that the accurate word at this point . So the confuses me so bad that I have no idea at this point what I wanted. All I came here for was light brown hair with high lights that's all they made it so complicated that I just got a grey hair touch up wow what a waste of time and effort to try and do something for my self . .. feeling disappointed and discouraged....

My hair appointment has been canceled two visits in a row. I was told the first time that several students just decided not to come in that day so there was nobody to service me. The next time (6 weeks later) was told the student ran over on her time and wouldn't have time to do my hair color. This has caused a major disruption in my life because it has interfered with my work schedule. If the students keep showing disrespect to their clients and there are consequences to the students because the director fails to enforce them, clients will stop making appointments which will lead to students not getting their hours and not graduating which means the staff will lose their jobs and the Austin location will have to shut down. Very unacceptable way to run a business.

Twice have I received a phone call to cancel my appointment. The first time, I was understanding. They were backed up and couldn't get to me before they closed. I understand this is a school and the students work slowly. The second time they canceled on me was 15 minutes before my appointment. They told me the student had just left. I received so many texts and emails to confirm my appointment. I was mindful and respectful to have three hours out of my day set aside for my for appointment. They couldn't return that same respect to me. I was on my way to their salon when they called me to reschedule. I will not reschedule my rescheduled appointment. Aveda does not deserve my time. If you're going to send me multiple reminders about my appointment, you should be sending multiple reminders to your students about their appointments. I am beyond upset. Aveda has lost all my respect. This is appalling business practice.

Worst haircut I have ever received. Two hours in the chair and I finally had to just tell the girl to quit. It was a butcher job of the first degree. Put the phone down and don't make that appointment. You will get a better cut at any cheap barber anywhere.

I made an appointment at least a week in advance for something extremely simple (a cut and a partial highlight). Tell me why as I'm sitting in the parking lot, the day of my appointment. They give me a call 10 minutes before my appointment time and tell me that they're canceling on me because the student that was supposed to do my hair ran overtime with the client that she had before me. So for some reason I had to suffer the consequences of her poor time management and wasn't allowed to get my hair done. they tried to reschedule me and every day THEY had suggested to me they didn't even have open, so just giving me the runaround while being extremely rude over the phone but now after reading all these reviews, I'm honestly really glad I dodged a bullet. Extremely unprofessional and overall rude. I couldn't imagine if they are going to butcher an appointment time this much, how badly they would've butchered my hair?!

just walked in to buy some product i love. i buy it every month from this location and the last 2 times the brunette woman behind the counter is very unwelcoming both times. To the point my boyfriend noticed and mentioned it as we walked out of the store. if you hate your job don't be the person interacting with clients. i specifically go here so i don't have to order off amazon and support their terrible practices but i also don't want to be scowled at and made to feel like i'm intruding.

I am writing to express my concerns and disappointment with the education and experience provided by Aveda institute in Austin Texas . Despite the high tuition fee of $15,000 plus an additional $3,000. kit fee charged by the school. Upon reviewing the contents of the kit, I was disappointed to find that it includes cheap items that will likely need to be replaced or supplemented with additional purchases. Furthermore, the kit includes an iPad that retails for only $250, which seems to be a significant markup. I believe that the kit fee is excessive and does not provide good value for the cost. The communication among school administrators and instructors has been inconsistent, leading to confusion and a lack of clarity on expectations. As we approach the final weeks of our program, I am worried that we are not adequately prepared for the state board exam. In our last week of Phase 3, instead of receiving focused training, we engaged in unrelated activities such as coloring and going on walks. Furthermore, the new clock-in system, which penalizes students for being even a few minutes late, has caused undue stress and inconvenience. Recently, a group of us, who commute from over an hour away, were sent home for being two minutes late, resulting in an additional hour-long drive. As a result of being sent home, we lost 10 hours of crucial instruction time, which has now led to our graduation date being pushed back. I believe this action was disproportionate to the offense and has significant consequences for our education and future careers. I understand the importance of punctuality, but I hope the school can consider the exceptional circumstances of students who face long commutes. I request a review of this incident and a more compassionate approach to addressing tardiness in the future." However, our Phase 3 instructor's consistent absence has severely impacted our learning experience. Considering the significant investment we have made in this program, I expect a higher level of instruction, organization, and support. I hope the school will take our concerns seriously and take immediate action to address these issues and provide the quality education we were promised." The instructor's lack of presence has caused significant disruptions, as we are often unable to complete required check-ins or receive guidance during services. When we do manage to request help, we are frequently sent away to seek assistance from other instructors, who are already occupied with their own students. This has created a situation where we are not receiving the support and instruction we need to succeed. I am deeply concerned about the impact this is having on our education and future careers. The lack of accountability and support from school administrators has been alarming. Despite our efforts to bring this to their attention, we have been met with inaction. It is unacceptable that our education is being compromised due to the absence of our instructor and the school's failure to address this issue. I urge the school to take immediate action to resolve this situation and provide us with the quality education we were promised."

(0/5 stars). This was genuinely the WORST haircut of my entire life. Somehow A 3-INCH TRIM TOOK OVER 3.5 HOURS, AND A MASSIVE CHUNK OF MY HAIR IS MISSING IN THE FRONT. I had asked the hairdresser, Nalijah, to touch up my face framing layers and specifically said to make them subtle and blended to avoid it looking like blunt chunks of hair. You would think that this could easily be accomplished within 3.5 HOURS, but somehow I left with literally half of my hair missing on one side... DON'T TRUST THE FACT THAT THERE'S A "SUPERVISOR" TO INTERVENE when things go horribly wrong....The "supervisor" was somehow worse than Nalijah! When he stepped in to "help" I commented that it looked awfully short on the side he was continuously cutting, he claimed it was to "even it out"... keep in mind the other side was nowhere near as short and I now look like a barbie doll destroyed by a 4 year old. Not only was the haircut itself absolutely atrocious, the experience was my personal hellscape... Nalijah gave the impression that she had never touched scissors in her life, and was awkward and timid that it made the already anxiety inducing 3.5 hours in the chair exponentially worse. She was literally yawning and making comments that she was tired and even saying things like "huh I feel like I'm cutting too much"... okay then STOP!?!?!?! Keep in mind they're blaring heavy metal music throughout the salon to really add to the hellscape vibe. Not only did Nalijah and her "supervisor" ABSOLUTELY BUTCHER the simple ask of a 3 inch trim, she wasn't even capable of giving it a decent blow dry at the end to mask the horrible cut. My hair has never looked so frizzed up and insane, with half of my hair blown out (minus the giant missing chunk of course), and the other half dried naturally (wavy). I also just don't have frizzy hair so this was entirely her doing. When I commented about the frizziness, she wiped a huge glob of hair oil on the TOP OF MY HEAD and sent me on my way. I knew the haircut was atrocious because the lady at the checkout didn't even try to harass me for a tip at the end lol. Obviously I wasn't expecting greatness with this place, but I could have never predicted it would be this horrible. To summarize, I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy..... NEVERRRRRRR COME HERE (unless you want to look like a botched barbie doll!)

Went here for the first time and loved it! My stylist was Lexi, she was amazing, she made sure I liked what I was getting and went step by step with what she was doing. Super nice and helpful! Definitely recommend if you want a cute and cost friendly haircut, will be going again!

If I could leave 0 stars I would. Super long post but if you are considering spending the money and going to school here it's worth the read. This school is a catfish. First of all we have gone through 4 different teachers in 6 months. This school is NOT pro student. They say they want to help students graduate and find a job after school. That is not the case. I missed the morning half of class for personal reasons and wanted to come the second half of the day. I emailed 2 teachers if I could come and neither replied back to me. So I showed up and tried to come anyways. I was prepared and ready to take clients. I was rejected and sent home because of "policy" so I had to miss a whole day. It seems to me if they were pro student they would have let me stay and get my hours to be on track to graduate. Multiple students were told that this school taught lash extensions. This was false. They do not teach lash extensions. We started learning eyelash lifts and brow laminations until we ran out of products. Then they proceed to tell us that we have to buy our own lash extensions kit, brow lamination kit and eyelash lift kits. Our teacher told us for 3 weeks that she was going to teach us chemical peels and then she comes in one day and says that we have to pay an additional $100 for a class to learn about the chemical peels.. all of this extra stuff we have to pay for and provide for ourselves when we paid $2,000 for a "kit" that they provide. In that "kit" they provide an iPad 9th generation which only cost $250 and everything else in the kit looks like cheap stuff from the dollar tree. And now they want us to go out and buy more stuff for our state board kit that we need. This school is so ghetto and a scam. 0/10 do not recommend going here. Just to add the bathrooms are always nasty and dirty. Toilets broken, sinks broken and always out of toilet paper and paper towels and always has a foul smell. The school ran out of distilled water for about 3 weeks and we could not use the steamers during our facials. The school also ran out of wax and we were told we could not practice waxing on each other to "save it for the clients". This school is a complete joke and has not made me feel prepared for state board or even confident in finding a job after school. There was weeks when I did not get a single client and other weeks it was 1 client. There is no way to get experience and practice with no clients and no product to even practice on classmates. There was a girl in our class who tried to fight 3 people and nothing was done about her behavior. She made the environment at school very toxic and hostile. At one point our teacher told her to go home she said no and stayed the rest of the day. That was so unprofessional. The last teacher we had ( because we went through so many ) was also so unprofessional and gossiped about student and to other students. The director of the school also never did things she said she would do. Me and a few classmates had several meeting with her about the educators behavior and lack of teaching/training and preparation. She promised to teach us a few things herself and she never did. She also claimed that the behavior of the educators would change and it did not. There are many many more examples and situations I could give you as to why you should not go here. Save your money and go somewhere less expensive.

I read all of the awful reviews which made me scared to come here so I called in advance to see if anything had been done in order to make people like me feel more comfortable with the situation at Aveda Austin. The person on the phone said no, nothing has been done. I will have to go elsewhere since I don't want horrid results.

My daughter (17) scheduled a full highlight and haircut. 1. She was told they would either have to reschedule or just have a partial 2. The girl that was doing them had never done highlights and left them process too long and then tried to fix it with toner. 3. The toner was strawberry which gave her uneven color... red in the back, strawberry blonde in the front. 4. She came home with toner on her scalp and sticky hair underneath from shampoo not washed off properly. 5. They were rushing because of the storm and treated her with zero respect. Sad we tried it and threw away $85
