Before the big 2024 freeze I decided to rescue a feral cat (George) who had been living in my backyard for almost a year, and made an appointment to get him tested and vaccinated so he could start to integrate with my other house cats. First of all, Best Vet had very good scheduling availability so I was able to get him in on short notice. This was also the first time I had handled a feral cat (he is truly feral and not just a nice stray), and I was EXTREMELY ANXIOUS about him getting freaked out and causing a ruckus, but the staff handled him so well--with both care and skill--and kept him under control the whole time. Dr. Bob was so kind and informative about his findings and what to expect next. I got the test results in minutes and they gave him all his shots while he was in the carrier. I was so incredibly grateful that the whole appointment went smoothly and I will only take George here from now on.

The name says it all, BEST VET. Dr. Hardy and his amazing employees are always working to make those with no voice well. I am very grateful for all their assistance as is Apollo. Thank you

My appointment time was 11am, we were triaged at 12 pm, and the vet came in at 12:40. 1 hr and 40 min is a long time for a dog to be patient while tense in a vet office. They had a relief vet come in and she was great. Listened to concerns and addressed them. The techs were wonderful and did well with my anxious and disabled dog.We finally left just after 1pm.The services were great but the wait time was a little too long for me.

Best Vet is the only vet in this area (there are 2-3 other vets nearby, so yes I am absolutely throwing them under the bus) that has honest prices, assessments, and kind staff. I went and got a second opinion from another nearby vet, by the time they ran all of the extra tests and we did all of the things that they recommended, my husband and I spent $900-$1200 just to be told the same thing that Dr. Hardy told me on a regular annual visit for around $50. Dr Hardy has a dry sense of humor, which you might not always get, like when he jokingly said "Well somethings going to get him" about my 17 year old cat. But I've learned to appreciate that honesty. I've especially learned to appreciate the savings of my time and money so very, very much. Seriously, this is the Best Vet.

I’ve been coming here since I moved to Austin in 2019. In 2020 I moved across town, it now takes me a good 40 min to get to Best Vet and there hasn’t been a single time I questioned whether it was worth it. They’ve always been very kind and knowledgeable. They’re very up front with pricing and never try to upsell or give you something you don’t need. I will always make the drive. ?

Best Vet is our family vet. We are currently fostering a wonderful dog and Dr. Bob and Sam gave the same amazing care of her as they do of their regular patients. I really appreciate that.

I highly recommend best vet! I moved from out of state with a new puppy and we were able to get an appointment right away. They are very friendly and knowledgeable. The best part is that we don’t have to wait weeks to get an appointment, they usually can fit us in within 1 week.

Such amazing staff. And Dr. Bob is great. My 17 year old dog passed recently, and they helped me arrange cremation services for her. The process was easy during a hard time. Couldn't recommend their services more. Thank you, guys.

The experience was seamless. I was super pleased with how gentle, yet confident, the techs were with Paige. Dr. Bob was great and the gals at the front desk were super sweet!

There is little doubt that Dr. Bob is a nice guy. HOWEVER, YOU SHOULD THINK TWICE BEFORE ALLOWING HIM TO PERFORM SURGERY ON YOUR PET. He diagnosed bladder stones on our 4 year old, very healthy labradoodle. Surgery was performed on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, and we took her home that evening. By Wednesday, she began throwing up volumes of water and was refusing to eat. This continued into Thursday , so we took her back. Dr. Bob gave her a shot to stimulate her appetite and to relieve pain. We pointed out that even though she had not eaten anything, she had gained weight. She continued to refuse food and was acting sickly. We left her with him on Friday morning, pointing out that she had continued to gain weight (9 pounds between Thursday and Friday). He said he would put her on IV fluids and monitor her. We heard nothing during the day, so we called that afternoon to check on her status. The office said he would call us. Hearing nothing, we called back, and Dr. Bob finally got on the phone and stammered that he was about to call us. He said the dog was in kidney failure, and related that “he had no good explanation” for this happening. We immediately drove to the clinic and finally met with him in person. He kept repeating that he had “no good explanation” for the kidney failure or weight gain. We suggested that the dog had been ignored all day, and he explained that he had been real busy with other surgeries. His only suggestion was that since he was closing at 5:30, we should take her to an emergency room. He basically washed his hands of any responsibility for her condition and sent us on our way.It turns out that he had not properly sutured her bladder, and that the weight gain was from urine leaking into her body from the hole in her bladder. The emergency clinic drained “almost 9 liters of urine” from her abdominal cavity. Emergency surgery was performed on Saturday and fortunately her life was saved. The cost was over $6700.00, all because of an inept surgery and him being too busy to monitor her closely. THINK TWICE BEFORE PUTTING THE LIFE OF YOUR PET IN HIS HANDS.

There may be good intentions here but each time I’ve tried this clinic it was disorganized and chaotic. My last appointment was scheduled for 2:30. I arrived with my pet at least 10 minutes early. We sat and watched the chaos of 4-5 office workers for an hour, then we were placed in a room. After waiting there for 15 minutes I made the decision to leave. I walked through the lobby (passed the chaotic team of workers) and out the front door —- no one said a word to me.I received a call maybe 10 minutes after we left. I told them I would not be back and voiced my disappointment.I have worked in business and healthcare my whole adult life. An appointment time is a time which you will be seen. Anything else is poor organization and a total lack of respect for the customer and patient. Being in a position to not be seen until4 pm for a 2:30 appointment is unacceptable. That overshadows any talent, skill or good will that may exist in a business. Unfortunate.

DR. Bob has been my all my pet's vet for 20 years and this visit proves what I've always said. He is not about the almighty dollar. He treats as needed, keeping costs down, cares about the pet in the collar and doesn't overcharge. Conservative and effective treatment keeps me coming back time after time.

The staff is super friendly and I liked that Dr Bob took the time to review my Bebe’s medical history and to examine her. I really enjoyed how he explained things in a language I could understand.
