Sure they are a fine pharmacy. But the hear monitor technician hung up on me. I don’t really care, but it was rude. You’ll have people who take it personally calling over and over again, so for our sake please show some respect and for your sake please keep angry backcalls to a minimum.

My elderly loved one (LO), who was already very fragile physically from a previous stroke, had a health crisis requiring several emergency surgeries at Seton Ascension. My LO became ready to discharge, but a new inability to swallow had resulted in an NG tube for feeding, which skilled nursing facilities would not accept. We did not know if this would resolve or not and whether a permanent tube for feeding through the abdomen would result, so it was a pretty big deal. A doctor suggested discharging to an LTACH, a long-term acute care hospital, a category of facility new to me. LTACH's are hospitals, complete with ICU's, that can do everything except surgeries. There are only two in Austin, Cornerstone (Burnet location) being one, with the other being a different hospital in far South Austin, so frankly, we did not have a lot of choice. But Cornerstone was near us so Cornerstone it was. Cornerstone is tucked in a quiet Central Austin neighborhood (Rosedale), and I had driven past it many times not knowing what it was. Well, long story short, my LO just successfully discharged from Cornerstone after a 19 day stay, without a feeding tube of any kind, able to swallow again. The care was fantastic, at every level and in all disciplines involved in her care, which were many given her major disabilities aside from the condition requiring the hospitalization. From the doctors who make rounds here and their Nurse Practitioners; the hospital staff from the nurses, CNAs, PTs, OTs, Speech therapists, and dietitian, the infection control folks, my LO was cared for by professionals who truly know their disciplines, work well together, are positive and friendly, sincerely care for patients, and treat them with dignity and respect. Cornerstone staff handled my LO's major disabilities in stride and addressed her qualifying speech/eating condition with the utmost care. My LO, already vulnerable and reliant on others for basic tasks, felt very safe and cared for at Cornerstone. Added bonus: the administrative staff were easy to reach and good communicators. Yes, the exterior is dated. However inside it is very bright and clean, and appeared to me to be upgraded to perfectly modern hospital standards. Most rooms are on the 3rd floor with large windows; they are full of light and look directly into the trees of Rosedale neighborhood, which is so nice for patients (and families there for long days). My LO could literally watch the leave turn and see the birds in the trees, which was calming and nice. We were literally there on Thanksgiving and were truly thankful for this gem of a hospital that met my LO's complex needs so well.

I've had the chance to interact with the staff at this hospital and be privy to the quality of care that's given here. The staff are all very dedicated and do their absolute best to care for some people that are really in a bad way when they get there. While the hospital is older and may not look like much on the outside, the care that's given more than makes up for it. I even took the time afterwards to look at their healthcare metrics, and most of the data is better than other hospitals in the area! They were in the midst of a corporate merger without even missing a step. Their new leadership made it clear that clinical care was their top priority and I'm really pleased with the outcome. medicare.gov/care-compar…

I am so grateful for the skilled, attentive care I have received at Cornerstone Hospital in Austin. All of the staff are excellent caregivers with deep concern for my needs. They would always go above and beyond to make sure I had everything I needed.Rest assured that whether you are or a loved one is entrusted to their care, that care will be competent, compassionate and effective. I was here for over 2 months and they literally saved my life. I cannot say enough good things about these great folks. If you need long-term acute care...look no further than Cornerstone Austin.

Please do not place your loved one in this facility. The employees do not care. The rooms are disgusting. The patient gets the least amount of care possible. My mother went there for rehab from Covid. She ended up with wounds that needed surgery. They said it would depend on their surgeon confirming. 7 days later he confirmed my mother needed surgery for her wounds that wasn't improving because of their poor care. It took them another 6 days to get her out of the facility. I have the text messages between me and their staff to prove my story. My mother was transferred to St. David's and passed away two weeks later. One of her causes of death was osteomyelitis. She had a bone infection that they drug their feet on getting treated. The doctors at St. David's expresses their extreme dislike for this facility. It really needs to be shut down!!! Please find another facility!! Don't leave your loved one there. I learned the hard way. I have placed a review on their website but they removed it.

All I can say is "RUN" the other way!! Don't ever go here. From my heart NEVER!!! I had a bad experience here. I ended up leaving in the middle of the night! I don't want to expose this place to a full effect, "Truth" prospers on it's own. But please listen, "Run"!!!! This is a place that you can't even afford the see for yourself. You may not make it out alive. . .

This place is beyond unsanitary and hazardous. The employees are extremely rude and condescending! I would beware of this place! It's a hell hole!
