Warning do not go to Charles Schwab on Congress in Austin Tx, to open any accounts with a cashier check.
They will give you misinformation on when your funds will be available.
Walked into the branch on October 30, 2024 with a 25k cashier check to open a new account.
Set up the account with them and before depositing my funds I was told by not ONE but TWO individuals that my funds would be available next day, so I went forth with the deposit.
Even the receipt I’ve attached states funds will be available on 10/31/2024.
I received a phone call hour’s later from both of the individuals at the branch telling me that they’ve made a mistake by telling me the funds would be available on 10/31/2024 and since it’s a new account, my funds wouldn’t become available until November 12th.
I asked why wasn’t I told this before making the deposit and if I can come and get the cashier check and do a wire?
I was told NO, they cant reverse the transaction which is BS.
Now the stock I was planning on using the funds on is constantly going up due to a simple mistake from these to so call Financial advisors.
I had 4k drawn out of my bank account on the 3rd of November to find out that the funds are on hold for 4 days.
I honestly can’t wait till my funds are available, so I can cancel the account and take my funds elsewhere to invest.
Will never ever use Charles Schwab again.

I want to give a shout out to Brian Armstrong who provided exceptional customer service at the front desk. He was taking care of three people at once. Two of which were older ladies whose sense of entitlement, snarky remarks and overall rudeness would have made anyone crack under pressure. Not Brian, he continued to solve their problems and my own while addressing us in a very courteous manner. I truly believe he should be recognized in some way.

Avoid engaging with this institution; their staff is bureaucratic and inefficient. The account-opening process is frustratingly slow, and customer service lacks professionalism and courtesy.

This review hasn't anything personal against Charles Schwab rather it's being placed for one of its employees behaviors I believe it's important on that level if someone is behaving poorly in their personal life a good percent of the time they are bringing that to their place of business and that is the fact with Bhavya Ramakrishna and engineer within Charles Schwab Who with her husband like to post lies and insults on public forums about small family businesses and then attempt to manipulate the court system to take back monies that were rightfully earned So this may not affect the public on the front end but as long as a person like this is working on the backend I would say it affects Charles Schwab as well! Just FYI the said party and her husband have the belief system since companies like Charles Schwab and Microsoft pay them well enough to live in a $1 million home they believe they can walk all over people and then crush them if they don't let them have their way!

Every time I have ever dealt with Schwab I have had a great experience. Kind front desk people, great customer support via the phone, and they even have extras like coffee and soda at this location. Highly recommend overall!

Diane Kenyon who works there as some staffing admin is literally the most rude, racist person I have ever met. She literally gets off on being nasty, rude, and interruptive to people of color during interviews. In the 18 years of my career, I have literally never met anyone as nasty and disgusting as her.

I have been contacting them for two years now trying to get an appointment. I have called the number for the office and nobody answers and I have requested through the 800 number and nobody calls me back. I am giving up and moving on the Edward Jones where there is at least a human to talk to. Very disappointed.

Schwab has crashed into the mountain. From excellent to utter ahit in 30 years. Sad. The level of officiousness rivals government, and no one is interested in actually SERVING the customer, just checking boxes on his checklist, and forcing customers to jump through hoop after hoop, like our time isn't worth more than the money we have in Schwab. Well, I can take my money out, and I suspect a lot of old-timers, who have put BILLIONS of dollars through Schwab over the years, will be leaving with me. How frakking hard is it to open an account for daughters of a 30+ year customer, and transfer money from his account into theirs!?! Well, Apparently for Schwab damn near impossible. Idiots!!

I cannot stress how disappointed in this company I am. Years ago they were a great bank and brokerage firm to work with. I just had an unauthorized withdrawal from my checking account, and they kindly informed me that they offer no protections or options for the unauthorized activity, and I was just out of luck. I don't even know if that is legal, but that is what the representative told me. Why would I ever trust my money with a financial institution that offers no protections against unauthorized activity?

I have to agree with the other reviewers. I’ve been a Schwab client for over 20 years . I was looking to open a few new accounts.I walked in without an appointment just to ask a few questions. I would have been ok if the gentleman said sorry but an appointment is required due to covid restrictions or any other reason but instead I was treated like I was a homeless bum looking for a handout . He stated I should do my business on line . I stated that I had a few questions that would be better answered with a short face to face meeting . He was very rude and basically advised me to leave . I will be taking my business to another brokerage firm. Schwab is a good company and they should be concerned about who they have greeting their clients. I had a check for $500,000 ready to deposit .
