Absolutely terrible vet. They gave me a cost to operate on my cat when it turns out she had no chance for survival, according to the vet they made me take her to for overnight care. Then they doubled the original cost they quoted. The woman vet that co owns CVC, bragged she leaves pet cats out to either live or die at her ranch. And again, actually brags about it! She think she's "oh so tough" and brilliant to leave domestic cats outside to be attacked and eaten by coyotes. Plus, when going to other vets around town, said Vets universally refer to them as the "kill veterinarian". I would agree. They tried to make me put down my poor cat that had a mouth problem. This cat could be treated with steroids and antibiotics, and she was a sweet loving and fun filled cat that enjoyed her life and lived for three more happy years after this vet told me I should put her down. They don't want to try, they don't allow appointments and if you go to them it's minimum a painful two hour wait 90% of the time. You are treated as a necessary evil and they will not go that extra millimeter to help you at all. I utterly condemn this vet and I would not touch them with a 10 foot pole. All this was right after my husband died, which they knew, and money was very tight and they knew every bit of this yet still unacceptably DOUBLED my bill on a cat that died 20 minutes later. They were mercenary with me to say the least. To them animals are a commodity, not beloved living beings with feelings and intelligence. Avoid, avoid, avoid. Crooks!

The staff here is always fantastic and helpful whether it's over the phone or in the office. The vets are knowledgeable and kind. They don't push treatments that they aren't sure are necessary and always give you options and potential outcomes for whichever you choose. I've taken my cat here for about three years and now taking a new dog as well. It's also very clean and organized inside. I would recommend this place to anyone in need of a great veterinarian office.

They recently changed to appointment only and apparently leave no availability during the day for emergency sick visits. I've used this vet for 7 years but with this change I'm going to change vets. My cat was sick and they said the next appointment was 10 days out. I said by then my cat could be dead. They said go to Emergency Vet. Completely unacceptable.

I had a boxer who was 8, she got sick overnight, this office could not find time to see her, after hours of calling other vets in town, she was able to be seen, and so sick I had to put her to sleep. I was already in utter panic, and our own vet could not find time to squeeze her in! Now 2 years later, I have another boxer, and she has become ill, I am still a patient with Capital, I called and once again, not able to see her for 2 weeks! Such CRAP! I am changing vets. Every office should have 3 appts on hold for emergency patients. When you have a sick pet, calling around to find help is the last thing we should have to do.

If I could give more stars I would ! The entire staff here is genuinely caring and very attentive. I have a senior special needs dog that needed care urgently and they were a tremendous help-I'm changing my regular vet for all of my animals to Capital ! I would give grace on waits (which I saw some mention COVID protocols etc) that's not their fault and to the contrary they were communicative and prompt . This is a committed caring ,hardworking team of professionals ,that I can't Thank enough for their help!

We found Capital Veterinary Clinic when our older cat, Itchy, was sick, when we were referred to them from Emancipet. They took exceptional care of Itchy, who had lymphoma, and extended his life. I highly recommend them!

When I moved to Austin from Dallas with my 13 year old dog and 13 year old cat I didn't have a clue how and where to find a new veterinarian. When my cat became very ill I called no less than 2 dozen vets that couldn't see her until one vet recommended that I contact Capital Veterinarian Clinic. Capital Vet was very responsive and was able to see my cat the following morning. Dr. Sanders quickly evaluated Jasmine after running extensive blood tests and determined that she had a infection. He administered antibiotics and sent her home with prescription food. Since Jasmines treatment she has rebounded and is better than ever! Needless to say I am ecstatic!

I just took my cat to this clinic for a urinary infection. The prices are more than reasonable and the staff is efficient, professional and kind. I was dreading how much they were going to charge me, but I was pleasantly surprised. I thought that I was going to have to wait until August to be seen, but thankfully I got in the same day that I called. Just be sure to call early. You will have to wait in the parking lot due to Covid precautions, but I was fine with that. Dr. Kimbrough explained everything to me and she was so caring and professional. From now on this will be our veterinary clinic. They have made a loyal customer out of me and my kitty.

I have brought my previous elderly Corgi mix for care that passed at 17 years. I now have a Corgi puppy that I have started all treatment with Capital Veterinary Clinic and from the simplest of requests to minor surgery, the staff and providers are absolutely outstanding. Working in healthcare myself, I understand issues with patient flow and complications with longer appointments and have to say I am truly impressed and look forward to a long relationship with this facility.

Dr. Matt Scroggs and his team did an outstanding job treating my senior dog who suffers from arthritis. Dr. Scroggs was very thorough in his exam, gave me a range of treatment options, and took the time to answer all of my questions. His staff could not have been nicer or more helpful, and the bill was very reasonable. If you are in South Austin and looking for a vet, Capital is an excellent option.

The folks at capital vet are an absolute dream. We relocated to the south side of the city and needed a new vet for our two pups. The reviews were so great here we had to give them a try. They have been so kind and caring for our dogs in the few years we've now been with them. We've used them for all of our shots, nail trims, medicines, checkups and even a few minor surgeries and dental cleanings. We would encourage anyone in the area that needs a loving and caring vet to give them a try.

I have been here several times, with several animals of ours and have had mixed experiences. I went in with my dog Xoco that had a tumor removed off her stomach, spade, and teeth pulled and cleaned all in one days experience. I brought my dog Izzi in about four months ago for her teeth issues and allergies. At that time she had a loose tooth and I wanted them to do a cleaning and maybe remove that tooth. They gave her some blood work to see why she was sneezing so much that was it. I really wanted her teeth cleaned and the loose one removed. The vet that day said there wasn't a loose tooth when I was physically able to move it myself. But to my surprise it wasn't done when I picked her up. Recently took her back in to get her tooth removed because it was falling out of the gum and she had a hard time closing her mouth because it's stuck outside of the hole in her gum. This has been going on with her for a little over a month now. The vet called me back and said her teeth look fine and he can't find a loose tooth in her mouth, I told him that it was there in her upper back right part of her jaw. He told me I've look all of her mouth and there's not a tooth loose in there. I told him there was to keep looking. He said I'm telling you all her teeth are fine. So go to pick her up and in the 10 seconds she back in the car with me the same tooth is popping back out. All I wanted was to pay someone to get that tooth removed it seems to be hurting her. But instead got charged for antibiotics, a kennel fee (I suppose for not being right outside the vet hospital when they called me), bloodwork and several other fees paying a total of 300$ basically for nothing. I will be choosing a new vet from this point on, these guys are terrible.
