November 2022 by Sherry K.
On May 16, 2022, we purchased a Fairfield recliner at Decorum and paid an exorbitant amount of money for it, expecting a top quality piece of leather furniture from a high-end store such as Decorum. On October 10, 2022, the chair stuck in the recline position and would not go down. What followed was a five-week experience with Decorum that was at the least frustrating, and at the most, condescending. Ultimately, the chair, which was under warranty from Fairfield, was repaired and returned to us on November 18. I won't go into all of the detail of the back and forth with Decorum but the main point is this: we were made to feel like the enemy. There was never an expression of regret for th failure of this product nor a call from management to say we're sorry this happened. We initiated almost all communication, having to persist to find out when the chair would be repaired and returned. In fact, it felt like Decorum was mad at us for having this problem. If you want to shop for upscale home furnishings, Decorum is your store. If you want to deal with people who are genuine and who make you feel they care about your business, go elsewhere. In fact, the store staff could take lessons from their delivery team; they were courteous, good-humored and a pleasure to meet. Our greatest hope is that the Fairfield recliner does not break down again, or we will be back to square one with Decorum.

Bummer. I am giving two stars because the store is great! The inventory is exactly my personal style and I have found many a great find there. In June, I was excited to bring one of the designers to my home to help with some updates: wall paper, furniture and carpeting included. However, when she arrived she seemed, to put it nicely, unfriendly and aloof. I showed her around. We talked about what was on my wishlist and I gave her a budget. She offered no on the spot ideas, and was relatively quiet. She took photos, told me that she had a big project wrapping up in July and wouldn't be able to get to me until then. I said that was fine but I was really looking forward to her help. Y'all, I never heard from her again. So disappointed. I will likely still shop there myself, but it's unfortunate that this business didn't want my project, or apparently my budget.

Went back to this store in Bee Cave, where I'd seen a beautiful, soft kidney pillow three months prior when a neighbor wanted to walk through. I remembered the store was pricey, but their website said "10th anniversary sale, up to 50% off." So when I went, the woman working said hello when I entered, but didn't get off the phone to see if I needed help. When she did, I asked about a pillow that didn't have a price tag, and she was like, "I don't even know if I can find the price." So I showed her where there were two similar pillows, and she read me the price on the tag. I asked if they were on sale (since they'd been there for three months AND there was a sale sign in the window but nothing seemed marked as on sale). She said she could check, but made no effort to actually move to the register to scan them. Without saying so directly, she seemed to indicate the sale mentioned on the website was old. Overall, the store is pretty and the staff aren't overtly rude, but they also don't put in much effort to see if they can actually help. I only recommend shopping here if you want to earn the staff's respect by flaunting your wealth.

Was so excited to do some furniture shopping on May 2 after restrictions were eased on May 1.I visited two stores. One store I stayed 30 minutes and spent $4,000 on a coffee table and ottoman. The other, I stayed 5 minutes and spent $0...When I entered Decorum Home, the employee (maybe it was the owner, but I don't know, so I will refer to her as the employee in this post) wasn’t wearing a mask. I wasn’t thrilled at first, but was ok.Then, another patron entered, wearing a mask, and engaged in conversation with the employee, who made a comment about being too hot while wearing a mask. Then, the other patron removed her mask as well...At that point, I left. Now, I understand people doing what they want, and that masks are not mandated, but I would have preferred, at least, the person working to show more consideration towards the patrons and erring on the side of caution. Not saying it’s just "too hot" to wear the mask. The store I spent $ in (Nest Modern), had two employees working, both wore masks (as did I), and were continuously wiping down the doors, etc as patrons came and went.Decorum Home probably wouldn’t have lost my business if they wore masks out of consideration of patrons, but they lost a customer because they chose not to.The employee seemed nice, and the store has nice items, but I personally considered it a lack of respect for customers, and it made me speculate how customer service would be if I were to have any problems with a purchase.

Very bad experience dealing with the sales lady who was very unprofessional and always forced too many products by displaying it in our home and would take their time in taking it back if we did not like it. They were very fast in billing though!I purchased many items (furniture, paintings, rugs etc) from this store and when I complained that one of the rugs was defective and the quality was poor, they stated they would look into it but never called us back and they did not give us a refund either. We went to the store multiple times but they never called us back.I will never buy anything from this store in Bee Cave!

Limited inventory. Some unique items of interest. Representative/assistant less than enthusiastic and stayed in her chair most of our visit. Most items available in other stores with much more selection ie Z Gallerie at Arboretum!

Chris Beach and Staff are the absolute best! There's not a store ANYWHERE that has the look, design and quality of what I call Modern Classic Chic! My clients always appreciate the referral to Decorum and it's always the same feedback “Jim, there's just nothing else like it anywhere!†Bravo Chris Beach and Crew Jim Jordan

I bought 2 sway backs for drapes for $20.00. When I got them home I realized that they were not what I needed. I went to the store to return them with a receipt, the owner refused to take them back because they were clearance but the receipt did not show them as clearance. This owner was VERY RUDE! I will not return to this store and told the clerk to throw them away. I would be careful with this owner, as clearly, he doesn't honor returns.
