I used to live in Austin Texas around 2009 to 2012, I went here many many times. I'm just glad to see that it's still here. The atmosphere has always been absolutely awesome and I cannot wait to go back when I get back to Texas. Somewhere on a drive I have an old video of alter del ruin.

This place was an amazing unique experience. It had an awesome vibe on Sunday 80’s night, it reminded me of a scene right out of the show “True Blood”. The dance floor was inviting and the music had us on our feet most of the night. My partner had pre-planned to take me here, from having past fun experiences. One thing that almost deterred us from going was the lady taking the entrance fee, she had short white hair and an attitude. She was rude to us and then super nice to her friends. We watched a group of 5 people experience the same treatment from her when we were leaving and they were coming. They decided not to go because of her. We heard them talking behind us saying that they were not entering due to her being rude to them. The bouncer checking id’s was great along with everyone else working last night. Even today an after talking about our fun experience last night we mentioned if we hadn’t pre-planned to go she would have steered us away, that’s not good for business. Other than her attitude, we loved our time and plan to bring a friend who we know would love it! The original music videos playing behind the stage is amazing to watch when dancing. We saw people requesting songs with the dj writing them down and that was really cool!
Check this place out it’s an experience and a step back into the 80’s!!

Last of it's kind, go see a show now! If drinks are food, they have it, large vegetarian menu. Service is real, atmosphere dark (just how we like it).

I like the space and the sound for the show is GREAT! My only issue is that they turned off the pinball machines… I get it but like COME ON! Please don’t do that. Some people really like pinball and aren’t annoying and are really good (I’m really good and I love it.) I did a 5 star hoping yall will see this and plug in. Thank you :)

Elysium is a goth gem found on 7th and Red River. This is one of the old school bars, one of the last remaining vestiges of 2000s Austin nightlife. They host a variety of events from 80s Night, drag shows, costume balls and live music to local artisan markets and fundraisers for the community. Come for an affordable well drink or play some pool and pin ball machines.
Wheelchair accessibility: The bar, patio (if you go around the front) and lounge area are accessible but not the dance floor or bathrooms.
