As first-time daycare parents (our older two were always with family), we were incredibly nervous about leaving our 3-month-old with people we didn’t know. But this experience has been nothing short of amazing. From the very beginning, the level of communication and care blew us away. We receive updates for every feeding, diaper change, and even adorable photos throughout the day.
Our son is absolutely thriving here. He always greets drop-off and pick-up with the biggest smiles, which gives us so much peace of mind. I’ve even picked him up early a few times just to see how he’s doing — and every time, I’ve been reassured by how happy and well cared for he is.
Ms. Cassie, the director, is phenomenal. She’s incredibly attentive, not just with the kids, but also with her staff. She’s a truly hands-on leader, and it shows in the warm, nurturing environment she’s created. We’re so grateful to have found this place!

We loved going to the Emerald Wood Kindercare! As a first time mom, putting our son in daycare at 3 months was scary. We instantly felt welcomed and felt our son was safe at school. It was easy to build trust with his teachers. Even teachers that did not directly work with our son, seemed to care about him so much and always greeted him with a smile and excitement. He got to play all day, and the days were embedded with natural learning opportunities and activities, even for infants and toddlers! He learned so much there, we always called it school versus daycare. I have to brag about the app, it was so easy to use and the teachers were the best about sending updates and pictures everyday. Turn over can be typical in early childhood care but any time our son did get a new teacher, we loved them. He had many of the same teachers there with him for a year and a half, as well as the same little buddies! It was hard to leave when we had to move when he was 1.5 years old. We'll always be so grateful for the care given and remember Miss Cassie, his teachers and little buddies that helped shape his early months.

I had my son on the waiting list here. Was originally set to start early January. Was going to push his start date back because we are still transitioning to Austin, until I started receiving tuition bills in my email already. Even late payment fee notices! Not a good feeling. Apparently they had him listed as "enrolled" and I havent even toured the location yet. I called the kindercare number on the email to figure out what was going on. They confirmed that I did in fact have a bill pending with late fees, but told me it has to be corrected through the center. The guy with the kindercare number was nice. I then proceeded to call emerald. The gentleman who answered was dismissive and kept interrupting me and said there was "no way" I could be receiving bills already. Even though I have multiple emails to prove it, and I verified through kindercare. He didn't answer any questions just kept reffering to two other women who would "call me back shortly". And??? They never called..... I don't want my baby going there. Feels so impersonal and unprofessional. How can you have a kid listed as "enrolled", bill them for tuition, and NOT bother to check if the kid is actually going there?! Like, we never even got a call asking "Is your child okay? He hasn't shown up yet. Did you find another daycare?". Instead they did nothing, and just asked for money.

My daughter started here at 3 months, and we kept her here till she was about 1 and a half. Our general experience was pretty aweful, but I do want to put in here that there are some wonderful teachers here who truly care! I wish my daughter could have just stayed in the care of Miss Laura or Miss Jeniffer, or a few other teachers who left KC during our time there. There was an extremely high turnover rate, and many teachers who we really liked that came and went. Towards the end of our time here, though, I didn't even feel that my daughter was safe, much less tended to with love and kindness. The place is constantly short staffed and under legal ratios, the teachers are all overworked and many of them are grumpy, overly defensive, and indifferent to the individual needs of the children in their care. My daughter suffered almost constant diaper rashes while there, like raw and bloody, and it was a battle getting them to use her rash cream or even the diapers and wipes that I supplied for them. She came home almost everyday extremely dehydrated, hungry, and exhausted. Towards the end she would cry and try to hide under bed when I told her it was time to go to school. She was bit 5 times in her last month there, and she even came home one day with large bloody gashes down the back of her neck. When we took a picture and sent it to them asking what happened and why there was no incident report, they clearly hadn't even known about it. She frequently came home with fingerprint shaped bruises on her arms. I understand that children bite and scratch and accidents happen, but it was clear that there was gross negligence going on. At her new daycare, for contrast, she has come home a little beat up twice in 2 months, and each time there was an incident report with pictures explaining she fell off a swing or got a papercut while painting. There is a kindercare app where parents are supposed to get updates about things like food, diapers, and incidents. It is not actually utilized by the teachers though. They do not tell you what foods they're feeding your child, and even when my daughter had a medical issue and I told them I needed to know exact details about her diet, they only occasionally gave me the info I needed. At one point, my daughter was very successfully using her potty at home every time for a about a week. I told her teacher and asked that they try to offer her the potty at school. That evening when my daughter came home, when I offered her the potty like normal she fell on the floor crying and to this day she is scared of bathrooms. I dont know what happened at daycare but clearly i never should have said anything. Because the director always became very irate and defensive whenever we brought up issues that ought to be simple, we were a little afraid to tell her when we were leaving the daycare. When we did, 2 weeks before my daughter's last paid day there, she became irate like usual and told my husband, "well don't think you can get out of paying for anything." We were glad we waited to tell her. We sent the official notice of leaving a bit later then we verbally told them, and now I'm getting calls for bogus payment due to KinderCare. I don't owe them anything and wish I could take back all the horrible time we were there. My daughter thrives at her new daycare, and the contrast confirms to me how bad it was at KinderCare Emerald Wood.

Finding daycare is such an obstacle in Austin. Kindercare had availability for our time range and it being a big corporate chain, we had trust that they had standard processes and a curriculum in place. After one week of our 5 month old going here, we knew this was not the place for us.(1) communication issues: we provided a half page document on feeding and nap instructions on the first day. Half way through the first day, we noticed she wasn’t drinking the amount expected. We contacted the teachers through the app and no response. The next day, the teacher noted she received it but unable to respond in the app. We raised this with the director since this is misleading advertising. When you offer an app, there’s an assumption that it’s two way messaging. She confirmed the teacher can’t respond directly but can make a note to respond as a workaround. The following few days, the teachers still did not feed the expected amount. We tried talking to the morning and afternoon teachers and messaging in the app again. The director responded but did not address our concerns. She told us what a typical child eats. There may be trends but we are concerned with our child and their needs. By the end of the week, we adjusted how we filled the bottles and it resolved the issue. They claim to adjust to your child’s needs but they don’t have a process to document and follow through.(2) teacher ratios: Texas ratios are 4:1. Multiple times at drop off, it was much more. The worst I saw was 7:1. At this point, I waited for the afternoon teacher to come. Having attended for a full month, it’s not clear to me as a parent what happens where your child is the 5th, 6th or 7th child.(3) addressing concerns: when raising concerns, they were not addressed or dismissed. In addition to the feeding issues, 2 older children were in the classroom during drop off one day. Upon arriving, the teacher removed the kids immediately. My concern was if one of these kids fall on one of the immobile infants around the room. When speaking to the director, she advised that it was probably X child and policy allows for kids to be within 18 months of age in the same classroom and this child was 24 months so it was in alignment with regulations. She was not there so could know for certain who was there. Also these kids seemed developmentally older than 2 years old, Regardless, this was a defensive response and our concerns were not addressed.(4) diaper changes: although the app indicated multiple diaper changes a day, our child had the worst diaper rash within the first week of attending. Now having started at a new daycare for over a month, we have not seen this issue so know this is not a standard and expected from daycares.Having said all of that, I do not recommend this place for any parent or child.

Facility is completely dirty!! Went to visit on 2/22/23 soon as I walked in I notice the curtains where a mess the front area it was also a mold smell. I then walked in and seen the open concept the first two classrooms were a mess and didn’t seem to even be used just toys and trash everywhere and on top of everything... They took me too 2 more class rooms that were a little bit more clean and seemed more in use then the first 2 from the front on the opposite side. I believe Bianca was the name of the teacher who gave me my tour she seemed hesitant to show much but after seeing the outside we decided to explore other options, my oldest when here in 2015 the place had went into shambles since from the looks. I hope they do better this facility has been here for ages!!!

My son has been at this Center since he was 4 months old, he is now 5. My daughter is 2 and has been here since she was 3 months. The staff and management has been very consistent. They are kind, caring and very concerned when it comes to the children and their needs. I have recommended this daycare to several others and they have used it as well. I am very satisfied with the service I have received through out the years.I've experienced some concerns through out the years and they have gotten worse with the change of management and lack of consistency. I wish kindercare all the best but I have finally parted ways.
