Horrible experience. A month and half after staying for a few days, they decided to charge my account for the hotel nights instead of THEIR client who booked all the rooms. Merry Christmas to me. After bringing it to their attention, I was told I needed to contact their client and have them fill out an authorization form to have the $1500+ charge removed from my credit card.
Why on earth is it my responsibility to make sure your event team has their ducks in a row for payment/reservations?
These type of experiences is what damages your reputation. I encountered such lovely employees on various teams during my stay and it’s such a shame that my experience has been ruined by something that could easily have been resolved if there were some accountability with your “call support” staff.

Our second time visiting the Fairmont Austin in November 2024, much like the first visit, surpassed our expectations. Upon arrival, I was met by a member of the valet team who warmly greeted me and explained the car valet process, where to go for check in and inquired as to the need for a bellhop. Plus, Plus & Plus to start off the visit. Retrieval of our vehicle is fairly straight forward as the guest is asked to text the vehicle request prior to coming down for the vehicle. I would submit a text request 10-12 minutes before heading down; I love this process as it is simple and our vehicle was waiting for us on all but one occasion when we arrived to retrieve it.
Check in was a breeze as I had reserved two rooms on this Farimont's GOLD floor. The female who checked us in on this visit was same one who had checked us in on a prior visit in October and she warmly greeted me by calling my name with a "welcome back" greeting. Nice touch there...
Our rooms were clean and ready upon arrival with nice views of the Colorado River with both located on the same floor. The best amenity associated with a GOLD level room is the GOLD lounge - it provides a delicious breakfast with made to order omelettes, waffles and an assortment of other breakfast foods in the morning hours, mid-afternoon snacks and small desserts in the evening hours plus an honor bar; best of all, this lounge area provides a quiet respite from the popularity of the other aspects of the hotel.
The hotel was decorated in a festive Winter Holiday theme - brought much joy to me to see the beginnings of the Holidays on display.
This hotel was very busy on Saturday as the Longhorns had a home football game. The entry to the hotel was packed with vehicles and small motorized "rickshaw" type bicycles to transport fans to the stadium. Patience is definitely needed on game days if you are wanting to retrieve your vehicle or get in to valet your vehicle.
We did not avail ourselves of any concierge services or any hotel restaurant dining on this visit.
The Fairmont Austin has set the bar high for this guest expectations and I look forward to our next visit with this bar being met again.

Hotel experience was good. I don’t get to go out of the hotel room to explore what was near the hotel but did not google a few places to eat and explore and they were not to far away from the hotel.
Everyone was so sweet and professional. Would definitely recommend.

Some of the staff was kind, others not so much, as the ones working in the coffee place good things, that was extremely expensive and not many options of food to choose from.
The room was ok, nothing wow, on the contrary the shower door didn’t close and the water ended on the bathroom floor every time, the toilet was running al the time, I had to fix it every time I used it.
The fee extra for using spa and pool were excessive and taxes expensive too.
I wouldn’t go again to that hotel, too expensive for nothing.
Rooms: The rooms are nice , but not to die for.

Unexplained charge that manager told me to contact booking company that are appear to be fees/taxes related to the hotel stay and not anything related to booking company operations/charges.
To add insult to injury:
1) The booking company said those are changes from the hotel, not them
2) The charge on my credit card has "FAIRMONT AUSTIN AUSTIN USA" as the merchant, not the booking company
3) Hard copy of charges printed at the hotel location by the front desk receptionist
I am almost certain that others have not commented because either they have not looked closely at the bill and/or they are not on a budget and can afford to pay for charges that hotel just says are mandatory without explanation.

This hotel has a nice lobby and cool elevators. In both my stays the front desk staff has told me how great my view is and it has never been accurate. The rooms are average; I could get a nicer room at any Marriott. The ironing board in my room had crumbs on it which then got on my clothes. There was no trash can by the toilet, only on the other side of a door under the bathroom sink. The breakfast is akin to a complimentary Best Western breakfast yet it cost me $60. The hostess made us stand with our buffet plates for 10 minutes while we waited for a table. There were many open tables around us. The man who served us was lovely. The Fairmont Austin seems like it would have been a lovely hotel 15 years ago.
