Update: harassed by spectrum kiosk employees for not being interested in their product again. Third time this year and only 3/26/25
Everything but that heinous Spectrum table is great now. HEB employees and store gets 6/5 stars. The spectrum monstrosity makes it a zero star experience. Malls are dead because of these awful kiosks so you let them be at the grocery store? Spectrum is extremely dishonest and the employees at the kiosk are aggressive and rude. Nobody is here to be heckled by a kiosk pos. And “pos” is giving them a nicer name than they deserve.
Getting consistently better again, the’re under construction right now but they’re not taking their stress from that out on the customers, thank goodness. Baggers are getting better and asking if I want groceries bagged and not ignoring me when I ask them to let me do it myself. 12/5/24
I don’t want to pay premium price on the groceries to pay bad baggers. Just had to spend three times as long re-bagging everything as it would’ve taken to just do it right in the first place but she just chucked everything in all messy and smashed my chocolate bar box. I even told her what I wanted and she only half did it and ignored me trying to stop her doing it wrong. I generally dislike the bagging help that I get at this store because they don’t listen and they are really bad at it.
Well the employees aren’t rude anymore but today I picked through several packages of disgusting toilet paper rolls and thought I picked a usable one but failed to notice the back of it was torn open and BLOODY. Says something about the state I found the shelf in that I missed something that disgusting until I was at the register. It was removed from the shelves when I went back for a usable one but the fact it was there at all is a huge problem.
I’ve had a pleasant experience here, especially in the morning, several times in a row now. Have checked out with the express lane, self checkout, and traditional checkout and everyone is courteous and helpful. Still too shell-shocked to raise my overall review further yet but the last few individual visits have been 4+ stars
Edit 3: still so sick of rude employees. If you don’t want to work here QUIT
Edit2: cashiers still arguing over the coupons ALL THE TIME. I’m glad you are hiring illiterate people, they need jobs too, but teach them to try scanning the coupons if they’re confused and it’s NEVER acceptable to be aggressive with a customer for “not understanding.” BTW I did understand, the coupon worked perfectly HE JUST REFUSED TO TRY before verbally berating me. God forbid you do your job while at your job Paul. 🙄
Edit: This store just keeps getting worse. Spectrum contractors, cashiers, and customers alike literally harassing me and others. Most staff seems ANGRY that you’re there and will be aggressive with you if you need anything. Manager I spoke to said they’ll address communication in training but there’s been a steady decline in quality goods and service at this location for months. HEB is truly the unwashed armpit of Austin, it’s actually a great store in other cities
Previous review (summer 2023): Hit or miss, mostly miss. Try to shop here during non-peak hours or you might get assaulted. Gas station tried to eat my card and there isn’t an attendant and puts $100 holds even though the pumps don’t have diesel so not too many trucks with tanks that big are even going to be there.

Over the past year I’ve been increasing disappointed with this HEB. Last year, a meat that they had left out sent my dad and few other neighbors to the hospital. All with the same type of food poisoning from the same food. When we pointed this out to the employees that this was an issue they dismissed us and didn’t mention taking mesures that would prevent this from happening again. I also often find expired meat still on the shelves and had multiple instances of curbside giving me 2-3 day old meat past the due date.
Now with the reconstruction they say will have more fridge shelf space, but all they are doing is getting rid of more and more items. I know that they are completely gone because they are not even on the app. This has been an ongoing issue as a customer with celiac - as the gluten free items and other items for people with food allergies are the first to go.
I will no longer go to this HEB because as someone with food allergies they are not a place I can comfortably go and know that I’ll be able to get what I need. Beware of their meat as well because they don’t care if it goes bad and almost kills people.

Beer inventory on my favorite beer and many others is gone? Voodoo Ranger Imperial is never out. In 5 years. It was out today along with several brands. Like half the beer wasn't stocked.
Edit: Looks like this issue was resolved.
These days I drink seltzers to reduce calories. Would be great Foor HEB to stock more varieties like different Vizzy's that are awesome.

Love HEB. This store has been under construction for a month or so and they still try to stay open. It's a disaster inside. Just shut down for a week, finish the remodel then re-open.

The Slaughter store is a nightmare. Shelves are empty and nothing is in place. People are lost. They should just close until they are done.

None of the aisles have been labeled correctly for months. Constant renovations, yet everything just gets more disorganized? Great spot to get accosted by annoying Spectrum sales reps though.

I’ve consistently had issues with curbside pickup, as I’m often unable to get all the items on my list. It’s especially frustrating when products marked as out of stock are actually available in-store. Curbside orders at the Brodie HEB tend to be much more reliable, and I have fewer issues with stock availability there.
Additionally, I wish there was an option to choose which store my deliveries come from. I’ve had much better experiences with Brodie HEB, and I’d prefer to have my orders come from there rather than the Menchaca/Slaughter location, as the service and selection at Menchaca/Slaughter seem to be lacking.
Don't even bother writing corporate because they will not resolve the issues I've raised concerns about.
Do better.

This store has gone to hell. Can't find anything, employees have no clue where things have been moved to. Some employees are straight up antisocial and rude (which never used to be the case). Not an enjoyable shopping experience at all. Target when I can.

Worst HEB curbside of all time. Twice now I’ve had a curbside order for pickup between 5-5:30pm. It is now 6:15pm and I am still waiting. Absolutely ridiculous and have now learned - never go to this HEB again.
