If you're wanting to sell books, puzzles or games find another place. They give you pennies for items. Claiming they use some kind of algorithm??? A few friends and I all agree not the best place to sell.

Feeling very ripped off. I brought in two boxes of books and received barely a fraction of what they are worth. Bear in mind these were mostly new/newer hardbound books with intact perfect jackets and a face value of $389. I know they sell for half the sticker price, so I was expecting maybe a quarter of the value, $97. Instead I was shocked to receive only $13. Half Price Books used to be good and give you a reasonable value for your books. This isn't even 50 cents a book!! Most of my books were $29.-$35. Next time I will just have a garage sale or donate to a Little Free Library.

This place is great but it REEKS of urine. It's the first thing that hit me in the face when I walked in. There is so much to see but the odor makes it vile to stay. There wasn't just one stain but multiple stains on the carpet throughout the whole store. It's a shame that people let the store get so bad with their dogs.
Otherwise the store it self is wonderful. They have a great selection of games, books, everything! Just make sure not to sit on the floor to look at what's on the bottom shelves.

I love love love half price books. All locations here in the city of Austin are in great areas of other locations that are walking distance. They had such a huge selection of books and many of which are currently on sale!!! So if you like to read and are on a budget head on down. They also have selection of reusable bags and many other small trinkets.

We absolutely love this business, and at this location, there was an infinite amount of dvds to explore. This is the shop to hunt for books and dvds galore.

What can I say about this place that people already know. This is a place I'm frequently in, either selling books, or buying them. Their music and DVD collection is always great to browse as well. You won't be disappointed visiting this location. Just don't get sucked in too much, you might spend your entire day there.

Who doesn't love HPB? My dad used to take my brother and me to the original locational on Knox St. in Dallas back in the 70s. He'd cut us loose and let us pick out all the books we wanted. Back then everything was only loosely sorted, and most of the books were just piled into cardboard boxes. Everything was literally half the price that was printed on the cover, so you could pick up old dime paperbacks from the 50s and 60s for a nickel. HPB was instrumental in the development of my joy of reading!

Really excellent store. Over the years I've always enjoyed visiting this place. They have an incredible selection of used books, CDs, DVDs, Records, you name it.
They're also a great place to bring your old books and music when you want to clear out space in your house. I know some people grumble that they don't pay much, but come on, they have to make a living. I've sold many books and CDs back to them and they're always nice and honest. Really great employees there make me appreciate their company culture.
