My cats and I have been going to Highland's Pet Medical Clinic for a long time. Even though I am with my 4th cat now the environment and feelings of compassion and understanding never go away. Highland's Pet Medical Clinic is knowledgeable, understanding, they listen to your concerns, and care for the over all well being of your furry family member. I have recommended this vet clinic in the past and I will definitely do it again if a friend or family member asks. Thank you for everything throughout the years Highland's Pet Medical Clinic!

We have been bringing our dogs to Highland Pet for years, and have consistently great experiences with all staff and vets. It's a wonderful group of people who care!

Searching for a new vet for my dog since recently moving. Highland’s had the most unpleasant, unhelpful staff with the exception of the doctor. It seems like animals aren’t really their thing. Will not be going back!

I’ve been coming to Highlands for over 3 years but that’s over this week. I have a 9 year old, chronically ill shar pei and she has been through a lot since I adopted her almost 3 years ago. She has dealt with hypothyroid, skin allergies, liver issues, and more. After Dr. Venghaus left I should have stopped coming here. They had a revolving door of ridiculous providers that ended with Dr. Bird who I did not have a good experience with. Every time I call, the tech on the phone is demeaning, I leave clinic without any answers, and I feel drained. This most recent time my dog had a terrible skin infection that was spreading quickly, and I was told everything was booked, they would not allow a drop off, and that I should try an urgent care. I didn’t even mind that, it’s Christmas in 1 week so I get it—but she was, again, demeaning and rude on the phone. The care is quite honestly not worth the price, you can get better treatment for less in Austin. I’m literally a nurse that works in a clinic and do not talk to my patients this way. So many things and issues I’ve had over the years and I’m done forgiving their mistakes. The few techs I do like have either left the practice or are not there when I come into clinic. I’m so done with this place, but I’m giving it 2 stars because the first 6-12 months I came here were amazing.

Overall "okay" experience — and Dr. Bird + Staff were truly lovely. First time trying out Highland, but I don't know that I'll be back. I went in for a nail trim for my Green Cheek Conure. Gotta say, this place is not a bird or exotic pet clinic. They seemed to kinda just be doing this nail trim lowkey because the Dr. Bird likes birds, which I appreciate, but it doesn't seem to be a regular service they offer (they had to charge it as a dog/cat nail trim - don't even have the right services in their system) and they did not do things 100% safely.Dr. Bird recruited a poor lil front desk girl to hold my conure during the trim, and the front desk person had no frickin idea what she was doing. No gloves in sight for anyone, so she just kept loudly, frantically stating HE'S BITING ME HE'S BITING ME as they worked standing up in the middle of the room. Lots of screaming and rough grabbing. I understand he's a wriggly guy and hates getting his nails trimmed, but I feel like they should have planned for this.I would have felt more comfortable with folks helping who weren't so unable to focus on my pet's safety because they're preoccupied with their own pain. Y'all get your poor people some gloves!! I feel bad for the front desk girl.Biggest concerns were A) the second the DR finished the nail trim the untrained-with-birds front desk helper just fully let go of my conure from standing height. He flew in a panic into the window and hit it. Hard. Then hit the floor. B) There was a lot of blood happening, which the DR claimed was her's from being bit and not my bird's — but again, are there no gloves or anything you can wear so my pet isn't biting y'all directly and getting so hassled!?Left there with my buddy in shock, roughed up, and with the staff's caked blood all over him. I'm pretty sure they just did their best, and they were very kind, but it was upsetting and I won't be put my pet though that experience again.

Highland Pet Medical is truly the only place I will bring my animals. They’re attention to detail, empathy for owners, and care for the animals is unmatched. I found them when my dog had hurt herself at the dog park and I was panicking calling tons of vets in the area and they were the only place that gave me any sense of relief and support. They informed me I could bring her in immediately. When I brought her in, they were extremely helpful and made me feel so taken care of, as well as my dog. Now my cat goes there as well and I feel so grateful to have such a reliable and kind vet for my babies.

We love Highland's Pet Medical! They have been taking care of our pets for over a decade now. We trust them immensely! The staff are friendly and efficient, and know our kitties by name. They always manage to get us in promptly, are very responsive about follow-up on test results, and are super compassionate. Our cats have aged over the years and the techs are so gentle with them. A BIG shout out to Jan, Jen, and Britlyn for taking extra kind care of our grumpy old kitties. And thank you - to all of you at Highland's for years of wonderful attention and service to our fur babies.

I've tried a couple vets in the area since moving here and I'm thrilled with Highland's. Everyone here is so nice and welcoming. You can tell they care. It's very easy to book with them. I took my kitty Leonard for a regular checkup and he had a bump on his side. The vet was so reassuring and calm. She gave me several options and was very upfront with the costs and not pushy at all. After an in house biopsy we settled on removal a couple months later and were able to add dental cleaning at the same time to save some money and allow for Leonard only needing to be put under once. He got his stitches out today and I was again impressed with the level of care. Leonard says thank you!

I've brought my rescue dog here for four years now and always find it a very personal experience. The staff has always been very responsive whether in person or over the phone. My calls are returned and questions answered, they do what they say they will do. I trust they care for my pet and understand how much I care for her as well.At our most recent visit, the two women who administered the check up and multiple shots were particularly gentle and took their time to put my dog at ease. My dog usually takes a full day to recover from the "trauma" of a vet visit (and so do I), but this visit really did not affect her! She remained very calm during the appointment too (unusual for her) because of the extra care given to make her comfortable and let her know she was safe. I was so impressed and SO appreciated this! I hope our future visits will have this same care!Have always been happy with Highland's but this was easily our best visit yet. Thanks!

Really enjoyed the conversation with Dr Bird. She’s both friendly and professional. She was patient with my boys, explaining her care for our cat. The team has always been first-rate. Jan, the vet tech, is a pet whisperer.

I never had a problem until today, I took my dog, and the prescribed me some drops for her the vet price is at 69.53 but I went online to chewy / Petco and the price is 12.99. Almost 75% more. Is very unethical. Julie the office manager contact me to tell me that even tho the product is the same online they are a small business, it was the same brand and everything but online was 75% less cheaper, I get you a small business but is absurd the price difference.

Wanted to post a quick note on the awesome care I recently received for my elderly dog Rocco at Highlands Pet Clinic. Both the tech and the vet (Dr. Bird) were very thorough and empathetic in the care they provided Rocco (who’s a ripe 15 years old…). Dr. Bird was very good at explaining what was going on with Rocco (skin condition) and prescribed some meds for him and some homework for me. It was my first visit to the clinic based on a recommendation of an existing customer and I’m glad I went and will certainly return so Rocco can live another 15 years!

Our 9 year old Golden Retriever, Izzy, came down with diarrhea, vomiting and was refusing to eat. Never having been sick in her 9 years we were very concerned! We called our vet clinic, which has clinics around the country as well as several offices in the Austin area, and they all said they were not able to see her for several days!! We started to look for emergency pet clinics and fortunately called Highland's Pet Medical who immediately said to bring her in! Everyone at Highland's was very professional, very helpful and it was easy to see they cared about Izzy. Dr.Bird was awesome! She examined Izzy, ran tests to confirm she had healthy liver, heart, lungs, and kidneys. She was then able to determine that our baby had picked up a tummy bug that dog's can pick up anywhere!!! She was given a shot to help her immediately and we were sent home with medications and directions to help her get better. We were so relieved. Izzy is well on the way to recovery, it took her a couple of days but she is eating again and her energy level is back up. As pet owner's who believe that if our Goldens live to be 20 years old it still will not be long enough, we highly recommend Dr. Bird, her staff and Highland's Pet Medical Clinic. Our thanks to everyone at Highland's for who you are and for what you do!Show quoted text

Highland's is a comfort when I need care for my pups that have been patients and friends of the clinic for 14 and 4 years each. Knowing that everyone on staff genuinely likes and cares about pets is the keeper for me. Dr. F is a dream with my stressful older boy; he's putty in those capable hands. From the vet techs to the office manager and the front staff, even when swamped you always get the details you need from a friendly voice/person.
