Stay as far away from this company as possible. It doesn't let you give negative stars. I contracted Hopkins Tax in Nov 2018 for work. They took monthly payments from me throughout 2019 with the understanding that it takes that long to prepare my case. In 2020, after my account had been settled, they continued to charge me. I reached out to them in Jan 2020 to find out why I was still paying them more than what was in our contract and they had no idea who I was. Come to find out, the employee that was handed my case had left the company and no one else at the company continued working on my case. They did some back and forth and promised to finish the job. The first time they submitted the work to the IRS it was returned because they forgot to include the fees that I had already paid them. The second time my case was rejected, it was because they forgot to include the IRS form required to file my specific type of case. The third time it was rejected, it was because they tried to reach Hopkins for more information about my case but were ignored. Here we are in 2023 and not only is the work that I paid for not complete, but they won't even return my calls anymore. From what I understand, the company almost went under and had to lay off all of their staff due to mismanagement. They are completely incompetent.If you need tax work done, stay as far away from this company as you can.

Lots of promises, no delivery. All of staff quit and now nobody there to help in fixing the mistakes he made on my prior tax returns. Nobody returns your calls since the office is a ghost town with everyone leaving. I made the mistake of pre-paying for a service where Charles Hopkins promised to fix any tax issues / problems that would arise in the future related to their past filing of my taxes so that extra fees would not have to be paid later if issues arose. NOW when I find out that they did make some significant mistakes that cost me thousands of dollars on my 2020 tax return, he refuses to honor the prior contract I had with him (even though I contracted with him in writing and paid a high cost to have this "tax insurance policy"). Stay away if your expect your taxes to be done on time, correctly, or even done at all. They do not honor when they agree to.

Good works deserves good recommendation, I appreciate the effort of Mr Chris Crypto for helping me work from home despite being quarantined. This firm was fantastic but my perception is they tried to grow their client list too quickly and now they cannot deliver.It takes 2-4 months for responses to emails, 1-2 weeks for phone calls. My 2021 return was late by 4 months because of their challenges with staffing. They currently have an automated email that says all staff resigned on 2/18 and the owner is the only remaining employee. The number on the webpage routes to a personal phone.I hope this firm can rebound but I have taken my business elsewhere

They did my taxes last several years. Didn't get last year's in until November. Now, I am hearing from the IRS that losses were mis-categorized and I have already had to pay back money on 2020, and now it looks like more for 2019 likely, but I can't be sure, because they took the returns off the smartvault. Noone responds to emails or phone calls. Paid extra for Audit protection, but no-one responds. At this point O might have to look into legal recourse. I can't be the only person scammed by these guys. Now, automatic reply on email states everyone resigned but Charles would return message within a week. It has been at least 2 weeks with no response and no phone or office to call. Charles sent out an email in February indicating he is moving on to be a speaker/ influencer. Only if he os teaching how to scam money and walk away.

They prepared our taxes, but there is a discrepancy between what they told us the refund amount would be, and what we actually received. Now, they are not responding to my emails or phone calls. I feel swindled, even though we paid them $600 each year for the last few years to do our taxes. Very disappointed and considering a BBB complaint if they refuse to respond.

I wanted to support a minority owner business after moving to Texas but....I have NEVER heard of a firm not accepting any NEW clients because they are fully booked and I have NEVER heard of a receptionist or firm needing your Net Worth or anything else to put you on a waitlist. I've used Charles and his firm for almost 20 years now. I've consistently received excellent service from him and his team. They are diligent and responsive while providing a great experience for me. There were challenges this year due to Covid that are not typical which did cause delays, however all necessary extensions were filed on my behalf and communicated to me. Best you can ask for!

We have done our taxes with Hopkins for the past few years. Customer service was fast enough and the people were nice but disappointments have kept piling up. A couple of very serious issues are listed below: 1. We applied for a loan and the application process required submitting our tax returns. The underwriters pointed out an error where our income was underreported. We had to file an amended tax return and pay several thousand dollars additional taxes + penalties. 2. Hopkins T&C said they would not be able to file our 2020 taxes on time and filed for an extension in May 2021. This is okay given how things were going with the pandemic. However, over the summer we kept contacting them to find out when our return would be filed, and the response was basically "we're working on it." Finally a few days before the drop-dead deadline of 10/15/21 they told us that our return would be completed "in the next few weeks." This was the final straw for us and we hired somebody else to do our taxes. They got everything done in a few hours and e-filed. Hopkins T&C later wrote an email saying that they are still behind with their filings and will pay the penalties for all customers who didn't file on time, but we had already informed them that the jig was up. We chalked up our retainer of $499 to "live and learn," cut our losses and moved on. Ultimately, this company cannot manage its workload, commitments and deadlines, so I feel that they should be avoided at any cost. This was an expensive mistake for us, please look elsewhere for a competent and timely tax preparation service.

I don't know what happened this year. We've used Hopkins Tax for the past 2 years of tax returns and it was an excellent experience both times. This year we have been ghosted and pushed to the back of the line and ignored on emails and calls. We need to get this tax return in by the October 15th deadline or we are in jeopardy with the IRS. Whenever I call I get told "we'll call back later today" and the call never comes. On email I hear "your appointment will be coming shortly" and no appointment is scheduled. I cannot recommend using this company in any shape or form at this point.
