I enjoy working with my tax professional Runje. This review is in no way a reflection on her. She is amazing! I rate her as 5 stars. However, the prices that H&R Block charges are outrageous. This is price gouging, in my opinion. I understand that they have to make a profit, but these prices are ridiculous. I enjoy the convenience of having the online experience as well as having my appointment over the phone, but to save money in these very difficult financial times, I would rather work with someone who charges less but is still competent, even if I have to deal with less convenience. I have been working with H & R Block for the past six or seven years, however, I will be exploring other options for next year, and if I find a viable option, I won't be using their services anymore.
Update in response to my review: H & R's response below is a generic response that they use for all unsatisfactory reviews. When I called the number given, the person I spoke with had no idea why I was calling. Why ask customers to call if there's no one to speak with who is aware of the review??? I believe this response was for the benefit of the public to deceive the public in to thinking that they actually care, which they don't. It's frustrating having my time deliberately wasted going on this wild goose chase. I've spent in excess of $8000 with these folks in the past six years. The least they could do is not waste my time.

H&R block did our taxes for 2023. Got notice from the IRS that they were wrong and we owe another $700. H&R now won't return our calls or emails. Bad at their jobs and totally unprofessional. Take your business elsewhere.

Terrible experience. Runjethammal Doraisingam "Master Tax Advisor" was not only unresponsive to texts and calls but didn't file my taxes either. I called the office multiple times to talk to her and tell them she isn't responding to my messages but they kept saying she'll call back and that she's working on it and that she'll file it soon. Well, none of that happened. Extremely unprofessional behavior from everyone involved. Fortunately, I reached out to someone else to get it filed on time. Would give 0 stars if possible.

Met with Kathy. She was kind and patient and had answers for me right away. I walked away feeling confident that my taxes were correct. Have never used in-person tax assistance and it was great.

H&R Block was professional, reliable and timely in assisting in a complex tax return and found the maximum amount of expenses and deductibles to reduce my tax liability. I will continue to use their services for the foreseeable future.

Runje was efficient, knowledgeable, thorough, resourceful and very pleasant to work with. She asked questions to help me recall details, and knew several ways to access information. She provided first class assistance, and I return to her year after year!

They are laughably incompetent. I highly recommend using literally anyone else. (Posting for Slaughter and S. Lamar offices, as they bounced me between the two for some reason?)Specifically-Sylvia Loera: would not reply to my messages, and took me calling the office ~5 times for her to even call me back. I submitted my taxes mid February, and it took until April 18th for HRBlock to get back to me due to her. After nearly 8 weeks had gone by I was able to get switched off of her.-Mary Aquilar: Seems to not know much about finance. Had to be coached by another professional through my entire appointment as she did not know what she was doing. Made my appt last ~2hrs as she basically sat there doing nothing, waiting for the actual professional to do the work for her. At one point, she was convinced a 401k rollover into a Roth IRA needed a early withdrawal penalty. After 10 minutes of telling her she was wrong, that person coaching her came over and laughed with me about how wrong Mary was.-Mgmt: left me out to dry. All those times I called the office I was told, “this is unacceptable”, “We hear this often about Sylvia… I can’t say more as I’m in office…” and promises to remedy this. It took you 2 months of me hounding you to even get a “pro” on my taxes, just to deliver your work on tax day with a surprise $3,000 added to an already large tax bill. At least you asked for a full payment from me for your “great” work to make it right!!
