If Elena is your tax professional, run. She is incredibly unprofessional, she would not let me ask a question, she just talked over me. She clearly read my email about the questions I asked and just refused to answer anything I had. This was a waste of time, she needs to learn basic communication skills. All of my questions were tax related and she just would not shut her mouth.

I’m honestly shocked at how uncomfortable and unwelcome I felt during my recent visit to H&R Block. I called ahead to confirm that someone would be available to help me file my taxes around 6 p.m., and Elena assured me it would be fine to come in. When I arrived, no one was there to greet me—instead, someone shouted my name from the back of the office and told me to “come here.” It was so off-putting I nearly turned around and left.
I walked back to Elena’s cubicle, and from the moment I sat down, she seemed annoyed that I had even come in person. She repeatedly told me that I should have just done everything online, not because it would be easier for me, but because she wanted to “have an easy job and not really have to do anything.” I was taken aback.
When I asked a simple question about whether I should create the online account now or wait until I got home, she practically shouted at me like I wasn’t listening, even though I just wanted clarity. She also made an uncalled-for comment about my long nails—criticizing them and implying they made the paperwork difficult. I’ve never had a service professional comment on my appearance like that. It was rude and unnecessary.
When it came time to pay, I wanted to use a credit card, and she flat-out discouraged me from doing so because she didn’t want to enter the information. I’m paying $100 for a service, and I was basically told I was a burden for showing up.
At the end, there was a short survey, and I felt pressured to answer that I’d file online next year just to avoid more tension. Even worse, she quickly selected “no” when asked if I’d want to work with her again—on my behalf. That really says it all.
Elena made me feel like an inconvenience from start to finish. It was unprofessional, awkward, and left me regretting ever walking through the door. I won’t be returning to this location, and I absolutely do not recommend working with her.

I wish I could post ZERO STARS Absolute nightmare. Never ever go here. I was charged more than double the estimate without any warning, and my return was rejected by the IRS because the incompetent preparer failed to ask a simple question that every person should be asked. It has been days and the problem still has not been addressed and I am communicating with the branch manager. This is possibly the worst run business in the country. The national HR block service rep told me that I should reverse the charges and not pay them because their service was incredibly overpriced, unfair, and that their inability to respond was unacceptable. She also told me should could do nothing about the problem at the local branch level, really bad business model. I was given an excuse that they were understaffed. look I don't care as a consumer. That is their problem. If you cant handle the volume STOP taking clients. Greed and stupidity took over apparently. As I write this they have still not solved the simple problem. I have spent hours on hold with their branch. Never ever go here or use HR Block. This is either the worst branch in the world, or the whole company is incompetent and imploding.
RE: YOUR AI generated RESPONSE BELOW -- I called that number and no one can help me because only the people at the branch can see my information. The same people who have not responded in 6 days now. There is really no excuse for this.

Poor personal - to - client communication. I was told on 4/5 that I had to file for an extension. How is that possible if I submitted my taxes 9 days prior to the 4/15 deadline? I had to leave 3 messages between 4/10 and 4/13 before I knew my taxes were finished; even though the preparer told me the taxes would be released on 4/10. Very disappointing experience. I will never recomment H&R$ Block again.

H&R Block costed us $558.37 extra. After dropping off our taxes in February we sat back and waited for a response. After months of not hearing anything, and our messages going unanswered, we found out the tax professional who we originally had assigned to our file left the company.This was only brought to our attention in October when a new employee reached out from another location and told us they were now in charge of the file. She told us how the employee was no longer with H&R, and an extension was not filed before they left. Therefore we could expect a penalty with the IRS. She assured us that we could get reimbursed by them given the circumstances. We paid the penalty and submitted documents to the company that showed our date of drop off, unanswered communication, and the penalty payment receipt. They said they would review the documents and get back to us in 4-6 weeks.Well, 8 weeks later I had to call for a follow-up. They said they denied our claim and did not provide an exact reason. Safe to say we will never use them again, and recommend all friends, family, and other business owners stop or never start using their services.

I made an appointment for my husband and I here. We file separately. For someone reason they couldn't find my appointment. Then when my husband showed up for his appointment, he was informed by a Very Rude Tax preparer who stated that he could not do his income tax without me. She would not allow him to file alone. I do not understand why a tax preparer has the right to tell us that we are not allowed to file separately. I definitely do not recommend this place. Especially if they don't even know the common info for filing as a married couple.

Don’t go to Joe unless you’re a man and have a simple tax return. He completely ignored my wife the whole time while completing our taxes.
