Truly amazing customer service. We needed 60 rockets for a Cub Scout event and no one was able to fill the order except Dan and Keitren from King's Hobby Shop. They worked for weeks and ended up going straight to the factory to get every rocket. I won't go anywhere else for supplies from now on. Thanks!

Lots of paint, trains and plastic models. Information page exaggerates the diversity of products and claims they have some products which they simply don't carry.The size of the store is much smaller than the photos would lead you to believe.Dropped one star off because the one man working the store during my visit was useless. When we walked in he gave us the impression that our being there was a bother to him. He barely spoke to us the entire time were there. When we commented on items behind the counter he not only couldn't be bothered to offer to show us anything, he didn't even look away from his magazine to acknowledge we were standing in front of him. I didn't buy anything during my visit, primarily because of not wanting to press an interaction with him.I recommend searching elsewhere if you are interested in models or trains.

I had amazing customer service from Dan. I had ordered several things for my son's birthday, Dan kept me posted about delays and then was able to miraculously get everything together and shipped. I would recommend Kings Hobby for anyone looking for a great selection of model trains and accessories and fantastic customer service.

Very, very small selection of N scale model RR. Odd as they had a nice running N scale setup. HO was better, but modest. Great paint selection and good selection of plastic models. Rating is solely for N scale. Friendly staff.

A sad shadow of its former self. Most info, especially images, are of their old location on Research Blvd. The new location is a tiny hole in the wall in a commercial park. If you're looking for car or military model kits you might have some luck there. But their selection of model railroading stock is a sad joke. They no longer stock new model trains in store, mostly relying on their online presence where they're an exclusive Bachmann dealer. All they have in store are old models sold on consignment. This sad state of affairs is exemplified by the attempt at a layout they have, which lays broken and forgotten in the middle of the store. It's heartbreaking to see such a fixture of Old Austin relegated to such a fate.

I did an order online of two paint sets They let me know the next day that neither of what I wanted was available and on back order. They offered to send me all the paints individually (except one was out of stock) not charge me anymore and refund me for the one they didn’t have. In my experience most places would say tuff luck out of stock. Truly 5 stars. Ironically I lived in Austin at one point and if I still did I would battle the insane traffic to make this my local hobby shop

I've been waiting WEEKS and WEEKS for an order and it still has not shipped. I placed on order on 9/29/2023 and as of this posting (10/16/2023) it still has not shipped. Every time I call or e-mail I get brushed off and ignored. I would not do business with this store again.

waited for my package for 2 months and never received it. Seller feed me promises for a two months and i the end never send me my package. Every week he promised me that he will ship it on next week. But on next week he shipped nothing just promised me that he will ship on next. In the end, I`ve waisted 2 month for nothing, he kept my 2000$+ for 2 months. I couldn`t buy in another store because the kingshobby seller kept my money and promised the shipping soon. Worst experience ever, do not recommend the store. Absolutely waste of time and money

Excelent little gem tucked into a quiet corner of North Austin. Friendly and helpful staff. Large selection of plastic models and model train supplies.
