Recently decided to end our time here.
- We found some rodent droppings in our unit. Unacceptable!
- Our unit door would not stay open! Had to dedicate a separate person to hold the thing open while moving items in/out. No thanks.
- Poor communication! We went by the place on Friday 9/12 to grab something from our unit, only to find the entrance blocked! No communications stating that the construction would extend into the end of day Friday.
Overall a pretty disappointing experience for the price point

Set up my storage online, selected the Round Rock location, pulled up with a U-Haul full of stuff only to learn the storage unit was in Austin but on the same street … The woman on the phone was no help almost like she only knew the same 4 words just kept repeating “We’re on McNeil Rd” until I hung up.

DO NOT USE THE INDOOR STORAGE HERE! I was scoped and targeted by tenants at this facility, who broke into my unit and stole my possessions over many days. My unit did not have line of sight of a camera. They repackaged my belongs as they removed them so the items could not be identified on the exit camera. I was in unit 2490. I am 99% sure a theft and resale crime ring is operating out of this facility. They stole thousands of dollar in belongings as I was temporarily using this unit between moving apartments. So disappointed.
Edit: The management has known about my break in, so this isn’t a fresh topic as there response suggests. Their follow up on the issue has been below expectation. Use one of the facilities up or down the street. The security is clearly not there at this facility.

I had a great experience with Extra Space Storage at 5547 McNeil Drive. The phone customer service person was helpful and the app is also easy to use. Once I was on site the manager, Thomas Rutkus, gave me a tour and showed me the unit. He answered all of my questions and was very helpful. The site is clean and secure. 👍

It only took seconds to take my money. I have to wait several days to get it back when i needed a storage now.
