The girl was very rude. We went to ask for information, and she practically chased us away. 0/5

Lone Star Ranch was an outstanding experience. My girlfriend booked a private ride as a Christmas gift, and it set the tone from the start. The staff were friendly, clear, and easy to talk to. They asked about our riding experience, listened, and adjusted the ride instead of forcing a script.
Our guide gave us real freedom. Since we were both comfortable on horses, we were allowed to trot through parts of the property, which changed the ride from passive to engaging.
The land is what makes this place stand out. The trails move between wide open stretches, tight winding paths, and river crossings. The terrain keeps you present the entire time. This is not a slow tourist ride. It is an experience built for people who want to ride, not just sit on a horse.

⭐️ Extremely Dangerous and Irresponsible — Do NOT Book This Company
I have never felt compelled to write a negative review like this, but what I witnessed today from a Lonestar Ranch guide was shockingly unsafe and completely irresponsible.
Lonestar Ranch operates right next to Onion Creek Dog Park, a well-known, clearly established off-leash dog park with heavily used dog trails and a creek where dogs regularly play and swim. I am there often and today there were approximately 25 dogs actively playing in the water at one of the main watering holes.
While this was happening, a Lonestar Ranch guide approached the creek on horseback, leading two riders behind her on a trail ride. Any experienced horse person — or frankly, anyone with common sense — would immediately recognize that crossing a creek full of off-leash dogs is extremely dangerous. Many of the dogs were already barking at the horses in alarm.
Instead of turning around or choosing another route, the guide proceeded to lead the horses directly through the creek. Dogs ran underneath the horses’ legs. My own dog tried to chase one of the horses. I was terrified a horse would spook and seriously injure or kill a dog — or throw a rider. The entire situation was chaotic and alarming.
I have ridden horses my entire life, and I have never seen someone make such a reckless decision. This was unsafe for the riders she was guiding, the horses, the dogs & their owners.
I was desperately trying to wrangle my dog while yelling at the guide, my phone fell into the mud, and the situation felt completely out of control. When I confronted her and asked what she was doing, her response was that “these paths were originally made for horses anyway.” That explanation is absurd given that this is now a designated off-leash dog park, something anyone operating trail rides in this area should know and plan around.
What was most disturbing was her blasé, dismissive attitude. She showed zero concern for the danger she had created. If I were a guest on that trail ride — especially someone inexperienced with horses — I would have been absolutely terrified.
This was not just poor judgment; it was gross negligence. I strongly urge people not to use Lonestar Ranch for trail rides. Their lack of situational awareness and disregard for safety puts riders, animals, and the public at serious risk.
Very dangerous. Completely unacceptable.

We had a team outing here and it was such an incredible experience from the activities to the staff. The whole time I kept thinking about how much fun my kids would have, and I can’t wait to come back.

What a gorgeous ranch, and a big thank you to Ariel in particular for sharing her expansive knowledge and deep love for the horses she works with. An absolute delight.

This ranch is absolutely stunning and the staff is amazing. I took my 18-yr-old son and his friend skeet shooting. We did not have any experience and our guide, Taylor, was fantastic. We went horseback riding at another place, and I really wish we would have done horseback riding at Lone Star Ranch. The land is beautiful and the horses are well taken care of. It's only 15 min from downtown Austin, you could Uber if you don't have a rental car. I will be back in Austin in a few months for a business trip, and this time, we're going to do all the activities at Lone Star.

Absolutely amazing, incredible experience! We enjoyed the 1.5hr evening ride and it was SO PERFECT! No complaints whatsoever!!Although the ride is super beginner-friendly and we’ve ridden many times, it was so worth it with the peaceful and fun and entertaining atmosphere! We would do it again in a heartbeat!
The wranglers were incredible and the scenery was just gorgeous and relaxing! Beautiful, clean area and ranch! Such a fun experience afterward with all the longhorns and goats and donkeys too!

These people are a GOD SEND ! Exceptional service and such a beautiful ranch they have !
So my crazy self accidentally booked and showed up 2 and a half hours late thinking I booked the later time. After explaining the misunderstanding on my end, the owner was very polite to let me schedule the next day. It’s a little pricey but the experience is unmatched. My boyfriend and I had a wonderful 1 hour ride with the guided trail. Horses were very well trained & the trail was beautiful.

Our firm recently visited Lone Star Ranch for a 45-minute trail ride as one of our team-building activities for our annual retreat. The staff at Lone Star Ranch were incredibly communicative and supportive throughout the entire booking and horseback riding processes. Some folks in our group were a bit nervous going into the ride, as most of us had little to no riding experience. However, the staff made sure to ease any anxieties with thorough explanations and thoughtful pairings of horses and riders. Major shout-out to Kelsey, Dan, Jennifer, and all of the other staff members who helped our team have such a fun and pleasant first riding experience!

We had a blast at the ranch, we were received by Dan! Very friendly, showed us around, talked with us, then we went horse back riding with Ariel! It was a great time, she is very welcoming and sympathetic and friendly. I had Yetti as my horse and I just wanted to take him home with me, sweet horse. We also did archery and throwing knives.
