My friend and I came to Austin for the Formula 1 race, but Lotus Gallery ended up being the highlight of my trip. I'm a 3rd generation antique enthusiast and always make an effort to explore the local haunts when traveling. When I walked in I was honestly a bit intimidated. This was no flea market junk flip.. I was instead surrounded by museum quality asian antiquities, some priced at well over $100k. It felt like being inside a museum where everything just happened to be for sale. In my pre judgement bias, I became suspicious the employee would want no part of me if he thought my pockets weren't deep enough. I couldnt have been more wrong. John, the owners son, had a limitless supply patience for my questions. I was so in awe of everything around me I spent 3 hours inside the gallery that first day, asking him dozens of questions. I was charmed to find that the gallery also had smaller and more affordable pieces, literally something for everyone at almost every price point. Every variation of Buddha from every age, vases, bronzes, busts, statues, jewelry, furniture and textiles can be found here. I fell in love with and ended up purchasing a nine, yes NINE () hundred year old Chinese bronze vase from the Song dynasty. John ended up being more than willing to negotiate on the price which put it into my price range. In conclusion, you get the feeling that this store is truly a passion project for the owner and her son John. If you like old things of beauty, history, and mind boggling craftsmanship from every corner of Asia, GO. TO. LOTUS. GALLERY. -Trevor

In the world of Chinese antiques, Austin's Lotus Gallery is the rarest of treasures, offering a wide selection of genuine, skillfully selected antiques and all at very fair prices. The friendly, knowledgeable staff are the cherry on top! It's a must-see destination for anyone who appreciates Asian art.

Lotus Gallery is great. Beautiful, ornate antiques and other interesting pieces. I feel like not many people know about the little nook lodged next to NEST, which is a shame. If you are in the Whole Foods area, give it a looksie. You have to walk through NEST to get to Lotus, so keep a wary eye that you don't end up walking around like a crazy-eyed zombie (aka me) for 20 minutes in the heat.

This gallery is a treasure. Where else outside of Hong Kong, London, or New York can you find Asian art that is this exceptional? The owner is knowledgeable and also respectful of all kinds of inquiries. You will be delighted and engaged to know more and if you know what you are looking at, and can make affordable payments, you will buy a treasure.

What a gem! Never expected to find a place like this in Austin. Actually, never expected to find a place like this outside of NYC or London. More than a few of their pieces rival those of what I've seen in most museums (and I've been to quite a few museums). That's not to say that all their pieces are museum quality pieces. They have furniture, photographs, contemporary art, decorative items, and smaller gift items as well. And if you're into textiles, man will you be in for a treat. Just ask the owner what she has hidden away. You'll be gob-smacked. The owner is a lovely lady who is almost freakishly knowledgeable about Asian art, and is happy to share her passion with any one who asks. I can't believe how lucky Austin is to have a place like this. I make it a point to stop in every time I'm in town.
