OMG today I got the BEST service here, by the owner, Jason, himself. I brought in my parents’ very old cuckoo clock to fix one of its hands. Well, Jason not only replaced both hands, he did it for free. I offered twice to pay but he refused, saying it was his pleasure. Thank you Jason for showing me humans are GOOD and the world is better when we all help each other where we can. Please trust your business with Jason and his team! They are true professional craftspeople who love what they do, and they do it with giant heart! Thank you again for making my day! ❤️

I took a neighbor's clock to Maguire's earlier this week. The retaining nut for the hands had come off and lost, so the hands fell off. Woodruff (?sp) was very knowledgeable and had everything he needed at the front counter to secure the hands, wind the clock, set the time and check the chimes. He also made a quick check of the mechanism and suggested a cleaning. I know this was just a short interaction but it was great!

I have been going to McGuire’s for many years and have purchased many clocks; as well as taken clocks in for repair. I believe I have spoken with everyone there over the years and they are always very friendly and knowledgeable.
The clocks are always what they represent them to be and in great working order. The repairs are always done correctly and on time. I highly recommend McGuire’s clocks.

Lovely people - I was having an issue with getting a cuckoo clock running consistently, and, for no charge, they made some adjustments and added some oil. They also offered some suggestions around how to properly hang/level the clock and what to listen for to ensure it's running properly. When my clock inevitably needs full service, I'll definitely be taking it to the folks at McGuire's.

Edit: Ok, I've had a year to calm down about this, and I have two things to say: #1: I don't appreciate being called indignant by a professional business person regarding their business practices. #2: I don't know what 70 year old can carry a 7-foot tall grandfather clock, and I'm only 47, but me and my TORN DISC IN MY BACK CAN'T DO IT, so bite me, lady! You don't know who is in what situation, and you're being awfully damned judgy about it. Also, a 70 year old is significantly older, and is probably more familiar with the concept of grandfather clocks than someone my age. You can't assume that I will be able to follow your over-the-phone instructions, without getting frustrated or breaking something, just because people who are familiar with old stuff can! Really reiterates that I will never call you again, even after a year, and going back to read this review. Your response was entirely inappropriate. Also, by the way, I would have gladly paid that $1300 house call charge if you could have only been professional, "out of service area" or not, it wouldn't have been an issue, so you can sit and stew on the lost business I hope this review dearly costs you. You, madam, are a poor businesswoman.I called to inquire about having someone come to my house to service/repair my grandfather clock. The woman who answered the phone was horribly rude, and actually suggested that she "walk me through fixing the clock" myself, and then expected that I take apart the clock and bring it to her!!!! This is my first grandfather clock, that I inherited, and have not the slightest idea about how to take it apart without breaking anything, AND I'd have had to rent a truck or a van just to get it to her, incurring additional expense. How dare she suggest such a thing! She then quoted me an exorbitant price of $1300 to fix the clock in-home, and just really sounded like she didn't care at all about her job or my concerns. I will never use this place! I called a different place that was very nice and came to my house and serviced my clock for the house call price of $250, and my clock is now running beautifully, no thanks to McGuire's! This place seems awful!!!

I found an amazing Simplex clock that I wanted to have the heavy original mechanism replaced with a modern quartz. I tried to find the parts online to DIY but the mechanism itself was about the cost to get it repaired at McGuire’s. They also resized the hands and added a hook to hang the clock. It feels like everything is more expensive in Austin but McGuire’s was an absolute bargain for me. The clock turned out perfectly and now I found a reliable and affordable place to fix any new clocks I get. They also quoted me a two week repair and stuck to their estimate.

Fantastic local clock store for purchases and repairs. My wife and I have purchased two mantle clocks and one wall clock there - all old-school mechanical w/chimes. I highly recommend and the staff are helpful and friendly. You can feel the honesty in the way they do business, which is the best attribute any store can offer.
