Terrible experience with this company, I rented an electric vehicle and couldn´t even drive to COTA (Circuit of the Americas) from the Airport. I attended this event for work and the car stopped working as it ran out of battery just from the Airport to COTA. It had almost no charge. Called the towing service so they could remove the vehicle and it was a nightmare to go through the call center. After reporting the issue, a tow truck supposedly went to the car location, never called me and left the site without any call to my number. Had to call the towing service a second time so they could remove the car again. I didn´t use the car at all and found out today they charged me full price as if I had used the car. I will never rent from this company again.

A terrible experience and vehicle. Had to wait forever behind dozens of people. Had 55k miles on it and had tons of damage to the vehicle. Unfortunately I didn’t notice until I reached my first destination. I was in town to deal with my brothers unexpected death and did not have time or the emotional capacity to deal with it, go back to the airport, etc.

One star because I can't select ZERO! I arrived at the counter to hear that I'd have to wait four hours for a car - or pay an extra $50/day through AVIS. I had a schedule and was forced to pay the extra money. My car rental was over $500 compared to my $350 flight. Front staff were not supported by any management whatsoever. TERRIBLE!!!!!!!

Wow horrible serviceThe counter was closed instead we went to the budget counter who helped us with the reservation. After waiting for 15 minutes then we walk up to the third-floor in the midst of 90° weather waiting in a line of about 10 people 30 minutes to get the car. Car was filthy

Payless got us out of a jam. We had a pre booked car with dollar but something went wrong and we were left without a rental. Payless provided excellent walk up service, they had exactly what we needed at a reasonable price.

Everything went very well with renting the car. The lady at the front counter was very social very nice very friendly. The guy walked me to my car in the parking garage. The car was not there he upgraded. This was awesome. Driving the car was awesome it was good on gas. Returning the car was an awful feeling. A rental car man with the Avis shirt on banged on my window. He told me that the lane I was in was closed but I just wanted to go right on through he said. There was no sign indicating that it was closed off I asked another employee and he said no that it wasn't. They never took my gas gauge reading he just took the keys out of my hand while I was still sitting in the car and put them on a dashboard. I got charged for gas refuel when I had already refilled the car. So this guy STAN as he said his name was is costing me $127 extra dollars on my bill because he obviously hates his job and wasn't doing his duty of checking things out!!!! He had lack of customer service & no name badge to prove his rudeness that he was really 'STAN'!!!! That totally ruined an awesome birthday vacation for me. This is why I gave only three stars. Maybe after filing and getting my final results from my complaint my rating may change. I wish I could rate the individual employee 'STAN' or I could be his director of a refresher in a greater guest service class!!!! Continued...... after writing this review I actually looked at other reviews and it looks like they do it too many many people about the gas thing. So I am changing my review star status to one if I could do zero I would. Word of mouth is a POWERFUL thing. In this case it will not be positive for Payless. I will pay more next time somewhere else. I am sure our news team would love a good story on the scam this company is running for profit!!!!!!

Price was good when initially making reservation. Had to add an extra day because of an unexpected death in the family and not only was the staff rude, but they price gouged me on the extra day. Didn't even have the type of vehicle I requested when I arrived to pick up the car. The only good part of the rental was returning it.

Do Not rent a car from this place. My husband and I rented a car from here for 3 days while we were visiting a family member in Austin and when we arrived the customer service was awful. The guy that checked us in to get the car had an attitude. We were asked if we wanted to purchase insurance on the car and we were told it would be $79. When we got the receipt in our email at the end of our trip we had been charged $230 for insurance . This place is a joke and I would not go through them again

The actual car (Hyundai Sonata) was not the problem, but this was the absolute worst car rental experience I have ever had in any part of the world. Picked-up and returned to Raleigh-Durham International Airport. Upon pick-up, car was ready, but I still waited 30 minutes because staff could not communicate effectively with each other or customers. Upon drop-off, no problems, but three days later I receive a text telling me the car was three days overdue. I called their 800 number about three times and spent an enormous amount of time trying to get issues resolved (at one point there was a rattling noise under the car). It was truly a horrible experience from start to finish and I would hate for anyone to have to deal with these similar issues.

The selection of cars to choose from was great. The car was exceptionally clean. The staff was very helpful and friendly! We will absolutely rent from them again as needed.

Arrived at Austin-Bergstrom airport at 6pm on Friday, April 14. Presented my rental car reservation at Payless Rental Car along with my license and debit card. Payless found reservation but denied me a rental car due to "credit issue". I asked if card was an issue - I had made the reservation with my debit card. I called Bank of America and they confirmed yes, card is active and valid. In fact I had used it earlier in the day. The agent said well maybe the card is not the issue. I asked is it a credit agency? My credit is excellent. He said he was not sure. I called Payelss customer service. It was closed for the day. I was denied a car. All other rental car agencies were out of cars and I was stuck at the airport and finally took a cab. I followed up with Customer Service that weekend and the following week. No one could offer a reason why credit was denied. I confirmed with the 3 major credit bureaus that my credit rating remains between 730-790 with all three. I'll never use Payless again.

This is a new rental company for me that I have never heard of. The counter people were very pleasant and helpful. The car people were the same. It was easy to pick up and very easy to drop off. I would use them again.

NEVER RENT FROM THEM! They will give you a car that is unsafe to drive. My rental had non functioning breaks and had to be towed.

The car we requested was not available. The car we got was dirty and damaged. Would not recommend this company. The agent (Aiden) was really nice and did his best to help us out, but his hands were tied by the lack of vehicles. We called to voice our complaints are were told nothing could be done. Based on the lack of customer support, I doubt anyone will read this or act upon this review.
