Not at all surprised that Petco has now in 2025 announced that it is closing stores nationwide. We quit shopping here years ago. In my previous review: I was horrified that a man came into this store desperate for help for his beloved dog, and the poor dog collapsed on Petco’s floor—seemingly due to the extreme heat at the time. The man was homeless so I guess only some dogs count at Petco. Instead of doing the decent thing and at least trying to help sort this out, the manager at this store threatened to call the police if the man didn’t leave. Just directed the man to drag this poor dog back out into the heat—no doubt to suffer and die. A CUSTOMER had to step in and take the dog to a vet. She got the dog to Companion Animal Hospital—which was just 300 feet across the parking lot but too far for Petco to bother. (By the way, HUGE thank you to Companion!! I learned that it not only saved the dog but went way above and beyond to ensure that she had all the care she needed. This is true compassion and decency at its very finest!) Good grief, what an epic fail by Petco—a corporate giant that holds itself out as caring for animals and makes huge bank off the backs of the people of this community. How hard would it have been to find some way to help this dog when there’s a vet 300 feet away? What would that have really cost Petco? Petco blew an opportunity to do the right thing and to have that story told over and over. Instead, Petco chose this one. And every single decent person I’ve told about this has reacted with appropriate shock and proclaimed to never shop there again either. Petco, we see you. And THIS is what your failure costs. Looking forward to seeing this store on the list of closures!

Do not recommend using self serve dog wash nothing works correctly was told the blow dryers do work before purchasing bath and found out after bathing my dog that they in fact do not. The high setting barely pushes out any air when I asked if there was a higher setting the employee told me no they don’t really work and I’d just have to towel dry. The whole point of bathing at a facility is to be able to use dog grooming equipment. After asking for the manager Kyle it took him 15 mins to come out of his office just to argue with me about how there supposed to tell people before they bathe there that the equipment pretty much sucks instead of closing it down and fixing it. He was unapologetic and condescending save your money and time go elsewhere.

If I could put negative I would the staff is so unfriendly,rude and unwelcoming I had a horrible experience today. after a long day I just wanted to grab a few fih for my fih tank and was denied service buy a middle aged woman with a bad attitude. And she even talked DOWN to my young daughters who where just existed to get new pets. I’m vary disappointed will not be coming back

We purchased 2 “male” rats from this location 3 weeks ago. They claimed they only sold male rats. 20 days later, we had 10 additional baby rats!!! Now we have to deal with separating the male, neutering him, finding him a temporary and/or new male playmate, raising the babies for a while and then rehoming them, and all the costs associated. All a result of incompetency at the store. To say we’re livid is an understatement!!!

Friendly, helpful staff. Location and size of this Petco makes getting in and out a breeze. I rely on the semi regular clearance of good quality brands to feed my big crew of eleven (mostly rescues). All the staff is wonderful but a shout out to Ryn for always being helpful and providing useful tips.

Very knowledgeable staff, good quality cat food. Just wish they carried ScoopAway litter. Free delivery to San Marcos with door dash, but I’m sure tipping is expected.
