Amongst the negative experiences I had a more positive one which is what compelled me to write this review. I arrived early as was requested in my testing email (definitely don’t be late, they have a strict time schedule to follow so they won’t let you in). The parking lot is for a shopping plaza so parking near the right entrance proved to be a bit difficult. All of the people working were very kind and guided me and other test takers through the process. I was nervous due to the bad experiences but things went smoothly. One test taker was sent home due to their phone going off during the test so definitely just leave it in your car to not risk it. During the test, other workers would walk in and out of the room so that was definitely distracting. As far as the exam went the proctors did their best to observe everyone, 6 testers/ 1 proctor. Go in prepared and ready to take your test (set yourself up for success). While testing I realized some of my supplies were missing (for 3 sections!) but I went through the motions to still get points. When all was said and done they handed us our test results as we walked out the door and I am grateful to have passed.

Lady that was doing the security check was unnecessarily rude and treated me and all the others like they are less than and incompetent. If the employees happen to read this, please treat others with kindness and clearly explain your directions. I understand you have a job to do but that doesn’t mean you have to treat people like we are checking into a prison camp. The lady at the desk was fine. My complaint is with the security lady.

I tested at the San Antonio location and I was failed by 2 points . I rescheduled my practical for the Austin location. I studied more, I was way more prepared this second time around. Everytime I touched my trash bag I re-sanitized. Before/After each procedure I made sure to sanitize station. This second time I was so sure I would pass I stayed up hours watching practical procedures on YouTube. By glam and beyond. I worked in the salon for 6 months annd trained extensively in hair cutting but because I was fast I got points docked. I will make sure to take up the whole 42 minutes for a simple haircut.Only to come here and not even fail by 2 points again but I failed by 5 points. How does that even make sense? Like why are so many of my points being docked. This is a scam to get you to have to take even more times and give more money to the state. This will be my thurd time paying the $76.00. Today I didn’t see any happy faces come out of the building. Texas needs to be like California and get rid of the practical. It’s useless i really thought the written would be the hardest but no it’s the practical. I really don’t know what to say to people who are reading this for same reason as I was here on the reviews. Go to San Antonio or just book and try again…..another $ 76.00… hopefully they don’t fail you by 1-3 points AGAIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

update: took my test 3 days later passed. &’ i had forgot my trash bag. This location just loves to fail.I came to take the texas operator exam &’ there was 11 of us. Out of the 11 they only passed 2-3. We all failed by 2! All different schools. Do not recommend this location. They also had “technical” difficulties. Then give no instructions but yell at you when you proceed after the pre recorded audio instructions that are timed. Also girl across from me didnt even finish her hair cut &’ got told on 2 different occasions her area was a slip hazard but she somehow passes?! Yea grading isn’t accurate.

If you can take your test at a different location do so, went for my practical yesterday and was greeted with rude staff, they seemed very annoyed with each other while one did all the work while the other two stood and talked by the door. Drove all the way from houston to take my practical and failed. I practiced everyday for this and I truly feel that there was no way I got half of my points docked for every section. Maybe I did do stuff wrong but definitely wouldn’t feel comfortable to take my test here again due to everyone being in a bad mood and one of them saying aloud she was going to get to go home if the last testing student wasn’t coming. Felt very unwelcoming and if the staff clearly show they don’t want to be there I wouldn’t want someone like that in charge of failing or passing me. I also day after next went to the San Antonio location and passed with an 85 so idk what happened here and why I was docked so many points to then pass.

My experience was not bad at all. All of the employees were very nice and had me checked in and at my testing desk within 10 minutes. The facility was clean and quiet and I was able to concentrate the whole 4 hours of my test. Computer program was easy to use. I recommend reading all of the facility rules and instructions before getting to PSI test sight so you glide right through the check in process. (Yes I passed :-) Good luck!!

I highly recommend taking your test here ! Don’t waste your time anywhere else . This testing facility was organized, well staffed, and very nice. We were greeted by a nice lady when we arrived and checking in went smoothly. They made me feel comfortable and less stressed out. 10/10 recommend coming here!!

“Procter” Nancy needs to retire. Not a kind lady. Personally spending as much time as I had studying showing up full of anxiety to take a test that meant ALOT to me, to be met literally right inside the door by rude, pushy and incompetent woman. No consideration to how anyone walking through those doors may have felt. They were unnecessarily rude. Not to mention the most important fact is that I was first to arrive and was the very last to be able to take my test. I wasn’t able to take my test until over an hour later while at least 15 people who showed up after me effortlessly got checked in and began to take their test. The guy who was on the computer before me almost had to reschedule and take his test AGAIN because of their mess up. Thankfully it eventually worked out for him and I took my test and passed thank God. I should’ve adhered to the bad reviews already here but I thought how BAD could it really be! Well it’s bad. They are loud and have no courtesy for anyone taking a test. We had ear plugs but I wasn’t comfortable wearing them and struggled to focus because of their loud chatter and the noisy A.C. I would never go here again. It’s worth a drive to schedule somewhere else I promise.

i went in for my cosmetology practical exam (1000 hours completed)ngl i was super nervous going in, ESPECIALLY after reading the reviews, but i’m here to tell you THEY’RE WRONG!!!i’m assuming they recently hired new employees, because everyone was VERY welcoming and friendly. all women’s team, middle aged (if that matters). there was no rude security or suspicious behavior between proctor and candidate.when you walk in they welcome you and you check in, wait for all the other candidates to come. once everyone is checked in, you go into a separate room, and go to ur designated station, and start ur exam. (they even went as far as saying things like “thank you for picking austin to take your practical, we’re happy to have you here today”)for the exam itself, they had a computer read out the instructions, ALONG with how much time you had remaining WHICH IS SUPER GOOD!! , my friend went to the houston testing center, and they spoke the instructions verbally, and so with that being said, some sections they NEVER mentioned the half way mark, determining how much time is left.the ladies themselves were very polite when scoring, didn’t come off rude or commanding at all, LOTS of please and thanks you’s between both proctors and candidates.FYI… there ARE clocks all around the room (hand clocks not digital), i was under the impression there was going to be none, so keep that in mind!anyways i passed! and would happily recommend my friends to go to this testing area.i wanted to mainly write this review to help the nerves of people taking their exams, don’t be scared, i promise, as long as you’re nice, “yes ma’am” and “no ma’am” you will be perfectly fine, goodluck everyone !

Went much better than I was expecting, not the most professional place in the world but it wasn't so bad. Took my test, got the results and left.

Absolutely the worst. Still attempting to “locate that the test was taken”. No results just trying to “locate” that it was taken!!! Highly unprofessional and disorganized

They are running a licensing scam here. I went to school for 8 months, took a duffel bag worth of supplies for all 5 modules. 4 Asians had little agilice clear boxes worth of supplies. Had to be hand signaled instructions because they did not know a word of English. One had his monomer confiscated and told he could not use it because it was not odorless. The examiner asked him if “He” some mysterious individual. Had given him that, the man said “yes, he give me this boc, I say that’s it? And he say yes she knows”. Then she replied well tell him that next time if he sends another one of you with this, I will send them back and they will automatically fail. So he thought he had to go but she said no, stay and pretend like you are doing the nail and do your best. At the end I threw away my napkins by accident when disinfecting.Asked the same lady if I could pretend to wipe off my disinfectant from the lamp, desk and chair and she yelled at me “I do not answer those types of questions nor give any type of advice so you do whatever you want to do.” So I pretended. I failed my test by 2 points. She gave me 1/3 for the disinfecting. Yet when I was outside I was approached by the group and tapped on my shoulder the lady touched her eye and then my paper like wanting to know if I passed I nodded no. They all gasped then the man who was told to pretend making an entire acrylic nail said “ I thought I do no nail, no liscense, but she gave me liscense”. Turns out she gave him 11 points for pretending, with that useless kit that mysterious guy had given him, but kept me from my liscense which I legitimately prepared for, went to school for and have invested more than 8k and 8 months of my hard earned money and sleepless nights of studying by TWO POINTS because she did not act in fairness and allowed me to pretend. No wonder many of these people at the salons don’t speak English and do not know what they are doing. I could accept failure, but by the 2 points I asked to act out and another was given by completely skipping the section I do not accept. Legitimacy and fairness applies to all in the US and I Will be filling a report.

I was hesitant to take my test in this location after all the bad reviews, however I had no choice, since it was the closest date and I already needed my license. The experience was very pleasant, the ladies who work here are very sweet, attentive, they made me feel confident, our group was a group of 6 people and we all felt very comfortable taking our exam and we all obtained our licenses

Dated building with zero fluff however how much fluff do we really need for proctored testing. Nice lady greets you and runs you through the process. She doesn’t make you feel like a criminal, which is refreshing for these type of places. Quiet area with, again dated software, but hey it gets the job done.
