Sweet little nursery. I go there about every other month for new plants or supplies and find the prices to be fair.

Very nice staff! I arrived at 5pm on Saturday. On google their hours are until 5:30pm but because of COVID they actually close a little earlier. Despite that the owner still helped me pick out a flower! Great experience! Thank you so much for taking the time to help me!

I'm went to Sledd nursery in my neighborhood near closing time on a Friday afternoon to see if they had any olive trees or lavender plants to give as a hostess gift. Both were out of season (so nope), but the owner rallied her 2 employees to help me pot some olive plant cuttings in hopes they'd live and grow into viable plants. The owner was patient and accommodating with my novice questions (while her employees seemed ready to leave), and gave me helpful recommendations and products for the best care and outcome. She's obviously knowledgeable about plants and what works locally, and cares. Great resource for 'old Austin' tips, supplies, and atmosphere.

Beautiful little nursery in Clarksville. An Austin original, family owned and operated since the 70s; I've been enchanted with it since I was a kid. Some of these reviews are really rough - give this place a chance. Running a small business isn't easy!

Love this nursery - the selection continues to improve with time and I've only ever had positive experiences

They have the best display of children's gardening gloves! It is amazing- they have gloves for little helpers and some for medium bigger helper and some for a bit bigger helper. Such fun to "fit" gloves with our helpers!

What a great nursery. Locally owned and operated forever! Lots of parking, help lifting and loading, wonderful selection, good prices. Please buy from Sledd and keep our locals in biz. I got 3 gorgeous roses and a couple of other plants. My new go-to nursery.

Vaguely rude or even condescending tone over the phone. Very strange.

Rude staff. There's friendlier nurseries in town.

Would not suggest. So many good plant places in Austin, everything here is marked up

This is my neighborhood nursery and while I can rarely buy anything due to the insane markups, it's adorable and they do sell used containers for very cheap if you need to propagate or repot...the owner herself has sold me the nicer faux terracotta ones for 2.50. Just now had an employee with serious attitude tried to charge me more than 3 times that for a flimsy old container. When I asked her if she could do it for less and told her what another (independent) nursery charges for new, better quality pots the same size, she condescendingly told me I should have stopped there. Apparently the ethos here is to be rude and turn away business during a pandemic. Done and done. Sometimes it's not worth it to support a local business.

This little square of land is lovely, but the selection is poor, the plants are overpriced, and the staff (there may only be one man?) is outright rude. I'd suggest visiting "The Great Outdoors" instead, as they are also local, have more knowledgeable (and friendly!) staff, and a much broader array of plants to peruse.
