Really great place to shop with a variety of items to choose from on top of great discounts! Staff is also usually very friendly and helpful, however,Mary Lou need not become so agitated or upset if a customer wants to double check their purchase. She immediately changed her demeanor with disregard to other customers and made it appear like it was a great inconvenience to be accommodating, all that was asked was for a recount of the total because it seemed something was off and it could have been done manually by myself. She later gave a curt answer when asked a question about the loyalty program.I would like to give her the benefit of the doubt because it was just a misunderstanding of communication, but cannot excuse the unprofessional reaction that has changed my ease of coming to shop here as frequently as I have been doing.

This used to be the absolute best thrift store until Covid. Such a shame. There is never anything name brand out now, so I am not sure what they are truly doing with the thriftable things. I miss the boutique. Giving it two stars because they do continue to keep it clean.

I miss the old funk of the Congress Avenue venue, but it's still a fun place to shop.

This location needs a lot of work in the jewelry department .them old women carry gold testers and kits like they work at the Diamond district lol The rest of the staff and store is great . But that jewelry stand !lolThey block blessings using the religion as their theme and claiming to help poverty families.Which I’m sure they do , but could do a lot more if they didn’t have thieves volunteering but quickly you’ll see many people leave with barely anything. And if they do it’s small amounts of damaged clothes and trinkets. The amount of Karen’s that run the jewelry counter though literally gold testing and Diamond testing everything is the reason you might go inside and see the same 7 items after 2 weeks and multiple overpriced items still there lol If it’s valuable you’ll never see it out for sale, but you just might see one of them Karen’s wearing a items you was interested in or even helped look at … which I did .I found a 18k gold chain for $5 dollars and told the volunteer Jolene and after storming off and pouting around the booth she literally said after getting furious “ that was a mistake !” And “that it was supposed to be double checked”when the necklace I purchased was priced and had their logo on it . So I knew then that the volunteers in that department are scamming and forcing people to buy what they want and for insane prices .I grew up hustling so I know it when I see it lol , but be at-least reasonable or fair with itSome stuff marked higher than a pawn shop . Red flag ?Unless it’s cheap silver marked up to $200 lol the or fake stones even damaged Mardi Gras beads and they have so much more they don’t show you. I’m talking bins of merchandise under the glass display. I had several good volunteers help me look that actually wanted to make sales. but ONLY if they have already found all the good real and valuable items.

One of the few thrift stores that made me feel uneasy truly because they use religion as there base to operate the way they do. All items are donated .They claim they want to help people and families , but if you enter You'll start to see the prices are marked extremely high on some items even if damaged . They have tags for discounts , but honestly who wants broken furniture or to spend $200 dollars on silver bracelets or fake Mardi Gras beads better yet badly damaged clothes ... I made it a experiment after helping two older women working the counter my first week there . I helped them find a stamp on a piece of real platinum ring to be exact , but guess what the ring never made it to the floor lol 4 days go by , and every time I asked a different older woman would tell me a new story , so I said ok ... imma watch . Week 2 I'm watching them gold test, Diamond test , and magnify every item and put them off to the side and again the items don't make it to the floor And after finding a 18k gold chain for 5.95 and seeing the old women get upset and literally tell me it was a mistake made me realize that part of the store is a taking advantage and needs a lot of work . Has potential ;but deff need to make up its mind in what they are ..Resale store , vintage antique . Or a goodwill Thrift stores should have thrift store prices. And people who actually want to be there to volunteer. Not to pocket or mark up items 5x the worth for profit off people who are in need already . I put my money back in my wallet and left without anymore further purchase . If you do decide to check out the store I'd recommend the books and glassware

I've been to this thrift shop quite a number of times so I thought it was time to leave a review. The store itself has undergone a welcome remodel, making it a much more organized retail space. They always have a nice selection of pictures, a good offering of furnishings and a large jewelry counter, but not much in the way of electronics. They also have books, picture frames, glassware, shoes, music media, and appliances. They do have a color tag system designed to save you money. Directly attached to the thrift store is a salad bar and grill restaurant in case you're hungry. They always have many new items going to the shelves then so it's worth stopping in fairly often.

This has been my favorite thrift store in Austin since it was located in SoCo years ago. Oh man, it used to be CHEAP in prices. What golden years those were. Things have changed. They used to have a fabulous section for books, but then the inevitable happened as it has everywhere: people who make a living buying and reselling came with apps on their mobile phones to find every book that could be resold for more, and the choices of books was no longer like a wonderful treasure hunt.It also used to be a GREAT place to buy dishes and other kitchenware as stupendously low and wonderful prices. I enjoyed that so much that I would buy things, use them a while, then donate them back to the store and get new used choices. Oh, what fun that was -- and one of the few things I could afford to do "just for fun" as a single mom without aid from anyone including the government and working long hours. I used to live just blocks away and would walk there nearly every day. The people that worked there were so nice (and still are, though most old-timers are no longer to be seen there). The saddest thing is when I see so many things there marked up to within 50 cents or a dollar of what they would cost retail. That NEVER used to happen. Even so, one can find occasional fantastic deals there and it is still a fun place to look around at worst. Now its prices are more in like with that awful Goodwill that is much closer to me. There is something about SVDP to love. You just have to go there and find it!

Vinny’s is a good thrift store however I learned today when trying to return a shirt with the tags and the receipt that due to abuse of their return policy, they no longer accept returns.
