I tend to go for more mid range sushi, more food for my buck. The food here is great, i'd just like to have more of it in a serving.

Tried it out but didn't fall in love with this sushi. Quality was 8/10 with some items not being great. We sat at sushi counter as we typically love experience watching and spending time there. Some of the fish was being placed on top of each other at the Sashimi station. Don't love that they didn't focus on separation and keeping quality. Most of the flavor profile was overpowering and not as much highlighting the quality of the product. Plating was fantastic but wish all tied together a little better. Service struggled at times and timing of sushi was very long in between so know that. That question of uchi or here it's uchi all day.

Went to Austin for the sole purpose of trying different restaurants. Soto wasn’t on the list but we decided to go for lunch and check it out. The fatty tuna nigiri was PHENOMENAL. As were the brussel sprouts, land and sea roll, chili hamachi, etc…. We had a chefs tasting dinner that evening (elsewhere) and were underwhelmed compared to our impromptu lunch at Soto. Thanks for the lovely experience & high quality food.

Staff were lovely and the venue is gorgeous- granted I think it would look prettier at night. The chef’s choice nigiri lunch special was delicious and filling (and decently priced). I was quite happy with the chefs’ choice(s). I’m glad the wasabi and the ginger were available upon request- I’m sure that helps cut down on some food waste. I’d love to come back to Soto to try their omakase.I’m not the biggest fan of their dessert menu though— the tart’s crust was a little soggy and the green tea tiramisu wasn’t the best one I’ve had. The Sapporo stout cheesecake was creative and the best one out of the three. Granted you come to soto for sushi and not masterpieces from a patisserie, so it’s no biggie.Parking: There’s 3 free parking garages near by.

We had an amazing experience at Soto for my partners birthday! All of the food was delicious, you have to try the wagyu gyoza, uni pasta, and honey truffle roll! Our waiter Son N had such a great vibe and was very informative about everything on the menu. He brought out a slice of cheesecake with a candle as I requested and threw in a small pour of their desert sake which was incredible. My partner and I agreed this was one of our best dining experiences ever!

Lunch was great, they have specials that made choosing things super easy. I got the chefs nigiri combo which had nigiri, maki and tempura. Everything was very well done, the freshness of the ingredients shone through. The variety offered in terms of flavors and preparation style was fantastic.Solid lunch, would recommend.

Delicious sushi with very good service. Drinks are pretty pricey. Staff answered questions, made good recommendations and provided with a wonderful experience. Will definitely go back again.

We came here for the first time to celebrate our anniversary, and we had a wonderful experience. We ordered the following:Madai CrudoChilli HamachiHamachi AppleTruffle risotto w/A5 WagyuGreen Tea Tiramisu for dessertSalmon over fireWhite tiger w/yuki kombuTuna truffleKappa salmon makiWhile nothing was a disappointment, the first 5 dishes listed were the highlights of our meal. Each of those had either a strong or unique pairing of flavors that took us by surprise. If anyone else is a fan of Uchi like us, I would say Soto is comparable if not better in some aspects. Generally, I think Soto's hot dishes are better than Uchi/Uchiko, but I enjoy both equally for their cold dishes and sushi.Overall, I would definitely come back and recommend anyone to try out Soto!

Restaurant had lots of seating options, at the bar, inside, or outside.Service was great, our server was so sweet, gave great recommendations, and told us items even off menu. There's lots of options of food to choose from including a daily menu. Plus, theres a pretty extensive wine and sake menu (a full page front and back). We ordered the daily special scallops with beurre blanc, the land & sea roll, the tuna nigiri sampler (would recommend if you love fatty tuna), the off menu tuna box (not bad but wouldnt order again since the toppings were mediocre), uni pasta (I would recommend since the noodles are ramen noodles so a good balance between the richness of the uni and the alkalinity of the noodles), matcha tiramisu. We were only in town for SXSW but would come back and recommend to others.

My date and I (fine woman btw), chose to sit at the bar. Fellas, smart move as our bartender was adept at choosing drinks and food with minimal guidance (recommended at great restaurants) while knowing when and how to interject. Allowed us to put our primary focus on one another...
