Just made the shift from Van Son to Southern Inks, based on the recommendation of another letterpress printer I really admire. Noticeable difference right off the bat: nice and smooth, vivid color, mixes well, stays open (useful in a student-use and teaching lab), and great customer service. Will order again, and will recommend to other letterpress printers!

Southern Ink is my favorite supplier, my go-to place for ink. Charley is incredibly helpful (and patient!) in mixing special shades. Their grab bags are wonderful. I also appreciate the option of getting tubes rather than cans.

Charley and Southern Ink Co. were by far the easiest vendor to work with when it came to letterpressing my own wedding invitations!
The letterpress process itself was tedious with plenty of hiccups, but the ink from Southern Ink was absolutely seamless. Ordering custom colors was simple, the ink applied like velvet, dried instantly, and rolled out evenly on the press. A little went such a long way—we still have plenty left!
Charley was beyond helpful, generously walking me through the process and sharing tips and blog posts that made this niche DIY so much more approachable. Everyone who has received our invitations has commented on how beautiful they are, and I truly credit the quality of the ink as part of that.
If I ever letterpress again, Charley will be my first call. Fantastic person, fantastic company, and it feels amazing to support a small business like this.

I've placed several ink orders over the past few years. I'm always pleased with the quality of the ink, as well as the customer service. As an artist and small letterpress print shop, I especially like the option of buying the ink in smaller tubes, rather than cans.

The Pantone matched letterpress ink that I ordered from Southern Ink Co. was great for a set of wedding collateral that I hand pressed on an etching press. It was the perfect color, didn't dry or tack up between runs, and dried to the touch within 48 hours (and that was with very heavy ink coverage). I'm going to be buying this ink consistently.

First time ordering Ink from them. The ink is great! I run a museum that has an operational print shop and our master printer is very happy with the black and also the colors we bought. We can leave the ink on the form for days and it wont dry out. Its the best ink out there compared to the old type ink. Will order more soon.
