Jeremy was extremely helpful in setting up a new account. We already had another account with the bank but he took the time to explain our options and walk us through the paperwork. A truly outstanding experience!

After being slightly fed up with the automated, clinical, long lined banks, I was directed by my employer to try South Star. Upon entry to the branch at Steiner Ranch, I was instantly enveloped by a very luxurious, Texan cowboyesque vibe. Not to be outdone by the absence of a crowd, or the cheerful greeting I received from Terry, whom I can only imagine as the matriarch amongst the employees. She introduced me to Jeremy who would be best suited for my needs. And she was right. He went above and beyond. Literally saving me time and eventually money.Banking has never made me feel especially appreciated. But South Star does.

I love doing business with SouthStar Bank. It is the feel of a small town bank, with all the services of a corperate bank. They always address us by our names, regardless if we go into the bank, drive through or call in. We would not dream of leaving. Terry, Greg and the whold team are just wonderful.

There's so many positive things I can say about SouthStar Bank, and in particular my interactions with one of their top executives Greg Vesely regarding my mortgage. The honesty, swift response whenever I had a question, the eagerness to want to help accomplish my goal, and frankly the willingness to hold my hand through my first mortgage process. He's treated me like family since the first day I met him!! I highly recommend doing business there!!

We are so happy with this bank. The location and inside of the bank are beautiful, and the employees and associates are extremely knowledgeable, wonderful, helpful, and caring. The location in Steiner Ranch is the branch we visited. Give them a try. You will be glad and become a loyal customer. Thank you so much South Star Bank.

I am usually super impressed with any SouthStar branch’s customer service, but today I was left very unsatisfied with the service that I was given. Around 9 am today, I went through the Steiner Ranch location’s drive through for three reasons: 1) to get change for a bigger bill, 2) to request the number of times that I had transferred money from my savings account, and 3) ask what the rules were if I were to go over the limited amount of transfer transactions. I was greeted by a teller, which I did not get the name of, and after telling her what I was there for (mentioned word-for-word above) she asked me for my driver’s license. When I told her I could not find my driver’s license and asked if I could use my student ID instead, which included my full name and picture, she said sure but that she would have to call the branch I usually see to ensure my identity. This didn’t bother me too much at first, but I began to feel as if she thought I was committing some suspicious activity and not just asking for three general services. After she got off of the phone with the Hearne branch, she asked for my social security number and my date of birth. I answered both correctly, and then she asked me about which other branches I also banked at, which was odd. She further questioned me to why I was coming all the way to the Steiner location when I had already given her a UT student ID that obviously implies that I was now living in the Austin area. According to the Hearne branch, who confirmed she called to see if I was the person I was claiming to be, she had also spoke to them as if I was some suspicious character over the phone. She also asked them why I was all the way at the Steiner location, to which they answered that I attended school in Austin. And although they gave her a description that accurately matched the ID I provided when she asked for it, she decided to make the comment that I was “covered in tattoos” to the other branch, as if this mattered at all. The worst part about all of this is that this employee even recommended that I go to the Dripping Springs location next time, which I’m unsure if those were helpful intentions or not, but after the whole situation it is hard to believe so since I live about the same distance from either branch. Again, I’m usually satisfied with the service I receive from SouthStar but this whole interaction felt unnecessary and has made me consider opening up another account elsewhere to avoid another poor experience.
