I am writing to share my experience with this veterinary clinic, which unfortunately did not meet my expectations regarding the care of my dog. Approximately 2.5 weeks ago, I brought my dog in due to a noticeable limp. After an examination, the veterinarian determined that he had a red paw and a minor yeast infection The vet said that my dog was being dramatic, as they believed the yeast infection was not significant enough to warrant the prominent limp. No additional testing was performed during our visit. After two weeks, my dog no longer had the ability to bear weight on the affected leg. I attempted to schedule a follow-up appointment, only to have it canceled 15 minutes prior due to the veterinarian's illness. While I understand that unexpected situations arise, this added to my concerns about the level of care provided. Seeking a second opinion, I visited another veterinary clinic, where it was confirmed that while there may be a minor yeast infection, it was not the cause of my dog’s limp. After conducting a series of tests and imaging, the new clinic determined that my dog had a fully torn CCL (anterior cruciate ligament), which is quite serious.
I am troubled by the apparent lack of attention to detail at this clinic and the initial dismissal of my dog’s symptoms as being overly dramatic. It is possible that my dog may have had a partial CCL tear prior to the first visit, and the failure to identify the underlying issue prevented us from implementing necessary restrictions that could have prevented further injury.Overall, my experience leads me to question the level of thoroughness and attentiveness provided by this clinic, and I would advise potential clients to consider this before seeking care for their pets.

I can't thank Southwest Vet enough for their incredible help on Monday morning. My dog was experiencing a terrifying bowel obstruction emergency, and they were willing to change their schedules and find a spot for him. From the moment I called, their staff was compassionate and efficient. They got us in immediately, and the veterinary team was absolutely fantastic.
They explained the treatment options clearly, and provided top-notch care to my furry kid. Throughout the whole ordeal, they were reassuring and supportive, which made a stressful situation so much more bearable. Their prices were almost a 1/4th of another Vet in the area, which not only made it affordable but prevented a potentially huge financial burden!
I'm so grateful for their expertise and dedication. Southwest Vet truly went above and beyond, and I wholeheartedly recommend them to any pet owner in Austin. They are lifesavers!

These pictures aren't for the faint of heart but I am sharing them on how important it is to go with your dog mom's intuition and get a second opinion.
For the last 3.5 years my regular vet (southwest Vet) had said the bump on my Boston’s back that was no bigger than my fingertip was a pimple or a mole and nothing to worry about. I had 3 different vet tell me this.
We decided to get a second opinion after they said Sophie (our other)had allergies instead of extreme heart failure.
As soon as our new vet walked in, she was just shocked that they would say that when it was clearly a mass cell tumor.
So this will end up costing us thousands of dollars because the first vet we ask 3 1/2 years ago missed diagnosed the bump and so did 2 other vets.
Yesterday he had three spots removed. One on his back that under the skin is about the size of my hand, one on top of head about the length of my finger, and one on his throat that was so deep it's wrapped around his jugular. Luckily, that one is just a fatty mass.
This is a terrifying process. We will find out the results of the tumors in seven business days, so Monday or Tuesday. Then we will go from there. I'm trying to remain positive but it is so hard to see where your baby has been cut open and then think he may not survive this process all because another vets negligence.
One other thing is over the last few years we have NEVER seen the same vet.
So I will never use ,this clinic again!!!!

Southwest Vet has been taking care of our kitty for several years. Essie was a ferrell calico we adopted and she can really be a handful around new people or strange places. The whole staff is always kind, prepared and ready to deal with her "attitude" every time I bring her in. They do great work and are always kind and helpful and try their best to make sure the visit is smooth and pleasant!! two thumbs up for this awesome clinic!

One of my dogs needed a nail trim, like now ? so I texted Southwest Vet around 11am to see if they could do it the afternoon. They were so kind and prompt to squeeze us in. They really go out of their way to help in any matter. Thank you to all of them ??

Thank you to the staff for making both of my visits easy for all 3 cats! Dr.Hayes and Destiny were both amazing, calm and super soothing for everyone's (my) anxiety.
I was worried about one of the boys having serious anxiety issues since we had to pry him from under our cabinets 10 min prior to our appointment but everything worked out and Fuaad was very understanding when we called panicked about getting him in on time.
Thanks a million for the stellar visits.
