For the price and amenities, this place was a lackluster experience. I don’t recommend it.

Daniel is amazing, he was very personable and diligent in assisting me with all my questions. Everyone in the staff and the concierge are absolutely amazing. The building is gorgeous and always smells clean, maintenance is done in a timely manner and and you always receive service with a smile.

My co-worker and I stayed here while attending a conference nearby and we really enjoyed our stay except for one evening when the bartender at the rooftop bar was so rude that I decided to tell the front desk, and now I just found out my co-worker has been blacklisted from renting via Sonder because of this. When we had checked in, the front desk was so friendly and highly recommended that we visit the rooftop bar and that it's open until midnight. When we tried to visit one evening, our keycard did not work and the bartender glared at me and gave me a throat slash gesture - (this gesture imitates cutting a person's throat with a blade, indicating strong disapproval, extreme anger, or displeasure) - just because we came at the recommendation of the staff in this building? There were patrons sitting at the bar; it's not closed... So yes, I was shocked and offended and told the front desk. I wasn't rude at all to the front desk as it's certainly not their fault. I just asked why that happened - and for this, WE'VE been blacklisted. I'm appalled.

I was vacuuming and suddenly felt the pain of losing my husband when I realized this place felt like a homie. (Like a hug)

The 18+ story apartment build is well managed and secure. Apartments on the 7/8 floor have nice views of the city skyline and Colorado River . Floor plans are spacious and kitchens and bath rooms. This building is pet friendly. Everyone either has a cat or dog of all sizes.

I wouldn't want to live at another apartment in Austin besides the Catherine. The 10/10 staff support, beautiful apartment design, and wonderful amenities cant be matched.

I was a resident for 1.5 years until I got the dreaded RTO call - a very sad day as I loved Austin and living at The Catherine. This is by far the best apartment I've ever lived in and I would come back again in a heartbeat. The spite I feel towards my employer for forcing me to return to Gotham cannot be put into words :)Pros of living here:- Superb location close enough to downtown to do anything you want, far enough away to avoid the noise. I should mention I lived on the side facing Lady Bird Lake, so I can't speak for the south facing side.- Related to the above, if a nice view is important to you, I highly recommend getting a unit facing the lake. You will not be disappointed. That said, certain units will be obstructed by a building directly in front of your balcony, so make sure to request a video tour if you aren't visiting in person. You should clear the building by the 8th or 9th floor.- Well insulated/quiet: other than the front door to the apartment which you can hear somebody whisper through, it's relatively sound proof and I never heard any noise from neighbors. After living in SF for 6 years where it seems like the apartments are designed for maximum acoustic carry like a WWE wrestling mat, this was a very nice change.- Great amenities: Although I didn't use them enough, the pool, sky lounge, and gym are all very nice. Stellar view from the sky lounge.- Google Fiber- Very nice staff- Luxor package storage room providing automated access.- If you order Doordash/Drizly the concierge will let the delivery person bring it up to your door, which is pretty awesome.- Vonlane (luxury bus, very comfortable) picks up from The Hyatt, which is directly in front of The Catherine. You can travel to Houston, Fort Worth, or Dallas on this bus.Cons of living here (minor):- There are 4 elevators, one of which is a freight elevator that may be blocked on occasion for move-in and move-out. It's very common for one of the other 3 to have issues and be temporarily out of service, meaning you will often be waiting for several minutes for a free elevator. Stairs are not really nearby and infrequently used.- As mentioned above the doors to the apartment are not very soundproof, it's a small issue and only really is annoying when people are hanging out in the hall before heading out (or if they stumble back at 2 am)- You get what you pay for, and this place is not cheap. Austin has experienced a deluge of new residents moving in over the past few years and the result was a stark increase in property values and rents. This isn't necessarily specific to The Catherine - as a luxury property with low vacancies, they are naturally going manage their rentroll to maximize profits. The result is a year/year increase in rents of around 30%. At those prices, you are at parity with NYC and SF.And that's the list of cons. Overall, truly a fantastic property, extremely well located, with great management and staff. At the time of this writing, there are 108 reviews on Google with an average rating of 4.7 stars - there is a reason for that.

I have lived in several apartments before living at The Catherine and let me tell you this place definitely feels like home. The staff is amazing, they know you by name and are extremely friendly / nice. You get to know everyone that lives in the building from all the amenities (pool, sky lounge, gym etc.). Majority of the people here have dogs as well so your pup gets to make friends too! It’s definitely a very secure building as well, concierge and a courtesy officer on site definitely makes you feel safe 24/7. I would 10/10 recommend living here!

A well-deserved 5 stars to everyone on The Catherine team: they all go above and beyond for the residents, as well as for the visiting service providers working in the building!

Am a pre-COVID resident , so am posting based knowing it very wellPros:- Well laid out building with good amenities (+2)- Day time staff that works directly for the building (headed by Jamal) and maintenance team (headed by Ryan) are really good people (+1)- Great rooftop lounge with occasional coffee and bar service- Right next to downtown, but close enough for an easy walk everywhere (+1)- free coffee for you and snacks for dogs, very pet friendly (+1)Cons (and little things no one will tell you):- Recently there was a ghastly and terminal incident at the building on the 16th floor. They are keeping quiet to maintain attractiveness of the building. Even with long term residents, they will evade the topic. Residents have a right to know re their safety and this is very upsetting. I wish I could do -500 stars. I will be moving out soon as my lease is out. Make sure to ask about this before you move in (-X00 stars)- Noise - the most painful part. Do NOT make the mistake of living on the back side. The hyper competitive volleyball people from Aussies go till midnight (don't believe what others tell you). With constant screaming and cheering, you better get used to sleeping with music or tv on or not sleeping (-1)- (almost) No hot water - they have tiny (50 gallon?) hot water tanks, that barely provide hot water even for one person. Forget about hot water if there are 2 or more residents. They offer to jack up the water heater to max, but what about safety??? (-1)- Costly! They have, and continue to, jack up prices to see how much they can get away with (-1)- One of the elevators is out of order 20-30% of the times. With service elevator getting used for constant move-ins/outs, plan ahead for that meeting! (-1)- Many of the positive reviews you see here have received incentives from the buildingFind another place. This place was great a few years ago. Much nicer buildings are coming up all over.
