My cousin was taking care of my car and found this place to take it to, was a GREAT experience! Was very fast, very friendly, and took the time to really explain and cover the details of the work. I've struggled to find good people in austin from a specific jeep place to horrendous firestones so this was such a relief and one of the best experiences. Just the kind of person you want handling your car : )

My 2009 Santa Fe needed a timing belt replacement and plenty of TLC . David Jones went above and beyond in replacing the timing belt, water-pump and serpentine belt. He spent hours recovering my license plate lights from under years of Illinois salt & rust, and addressed the other safety/aesthetic issues such as taillights and windscreen wipers. All for a very fair price. He is my car’s new favorite person.

Dave is a relief to find. He is an honest and knowledgeable mechanic who has done a lot of work on different parts of my older Nissan, at a fraction of the price quoted by other mechanics. Universal Motors is a small shop run by him, alone, with no frills nor fancy "customer service advocates." The result is that he doesn't need to pad his prices or his estimates in order to afford to pay for those frills. I am "thrifty" and have fairly high standards in what I expect from service businesses; I am not easy to please, and I do not abide poor customer service or mechanics who take advantage of customers. It is such a relief to work with him that I often voluntarily pay him more than he charges me because he is honest and decent, and the car always runs better after he works on it.

I am a single women and have been going to him for two yrs. Had him help me pick a used car that runs great. Also saved me 400$ on a repair that was going to cost $1100 everywhere else.
