Really sad. We'd much prefer to use a credit union, but UFCU's performance over the past few years has been terrible. They've really had a problem for about the last 15 years in transitioning to web-based services. Numerous times, automated payments did not go through. We set several bills up for automatic payment, monthly, and NOTHING happens. We wanted to pay additional principal on our mortgage today (purposely NOT though UFCU) and our mortgage company informed us that we can't make an additional payment right now because we have a FEE for a missed payment! The automated payment that UFCU should have made. Furthermore, when we checked the UFCU automated payment set-up, we noticed that it says "monthly" though May but says we only have 1 more payment "to go." Well, what about the Feb. payment that wasn't made, and of course March, April and May? That's a total of four payments remaining, not one. I hope to find another local credit union for regular checking, but I think we're going to be stuck going to a for-profit bank. Family has strong connections to UFCU, going back to probably the origins of UFCU. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

February 2, 2024 Update: After 6 weeks of waiting for the UFCU problems to be resolved, I finally closed all of my accounts. In communicating with UFCU I received nothing but platitudes and promises - none of which seem to be in the offing. I DO NOT TRUST THIS INSTITUTION WITH MY MONEY.

Had a quick and great experience at this location! The nice lady by the door told me the wait time and it ended up being up being less than expected (:

I love UFCU on Steck. I’ve attended other locations and have not experienced the comfort and customer service as I do at Steck. I love my chosen location.

I've been a UFCU member a long time and seen lots of changes. My use has been very basic so I rarely use advanced services. They do seem to have more technical issues than any other business I use. The bottom line is that they are rarely proactive on anything and any changes take their customers by surprise. I am confident that they are solid financially, but if you want to know what will happen ahead of time, forget it. My star rating is primarily for poor maintenance of their ATMs and very poor communication skills of management.

When will UFCU get with the times? How come I can’t verify my bank accounts with decision logic and other apps? I’m going to have to change my bank to a more advance credit union. This is ridiculous

Currently on hold for an hour with UFCU. Not sure when anyone will pick up. I'm just trying to do a simple balance transfer, but there is nowhere to put the verification number in the app or on the website. I don't recommend UFCU due to the customer service and their botched website and app. UFCU does not respond to my emails, and they do not answer their phones.

Absolutely the best banking experience time and time again. Fast and efficient friendly staffing, quick processes that have helped me out a lot over the years and on the fly for most of them. It feels like you never have to wait in line for anything

The new mobile app and website are a considerable downgrade. In addition to multiple outages since being rolled out, we have lost functionality that is standard at other financial institutions. If you use popular budgeting apps, UFCU no longer automatically syncs. To the Board of Directors and Principal Officers, this is not the direction you should be going in, the user experience was one of the key differentiators that kept me at UFCU, now I am looking elsewhere.

Always helpful and there when we need them. They are super responsive to messages. We like all the resources they offer their customers.

I have been a member of UFCU for FORTY years- and it has provided me stellar account services, loans, and customer service across those years. However, the transition to the new November 2023 mobile and online services is a MAJOR FAILURE for UFCU. The new online platform does not provide many of the services previously available (travel notices on credit cards, options to change CD deposit) and the display is AWFUL, just terrible- you cannot see more than 3-4 transactions or accounts on the screen at a time, you cannot see past bills paid through the online system, you cannot see the percentage rate that your CDs pay, and the whole display is blocky and unintuitive. There was NOTHING WRONG with the previous platform-- and EVERYONE I know that banks with UFCU has experienced confusion, unintended late fees, or frustration. The wait to talk to a customer service person (because I have had to call repeatedly over the last weeks) has been ridulous. Either ramp up the quality of the online experience VERY SOON or you are losing this long time customer.

Two years ago I opened an account with UFCU. During that time I also set up my atm card. I only ever used the account once to transfer money to an app I use and never used the card. I recently moved and tried to use my card only to have it decline. I called used automated service to activate my card. Declined again after that. Tried to reset pin. No dice on that. And sat on the phones automated service waiting on a rep to answer for two hours before hanging up. I did at one point go into a prompt on the service that had to do with fraud and got someone right away but that person has limited access and can’t help me more then to say my card had a hold on it. For what? Never used it maybe? Doesn’t matter. I looked online for a direct number and all the banks use the same automated number. This is very impersonal and frustrating to deal with. I don’t think I’m going to continue banking here. My card being declined is embarrassing and the hold on my card with no explanation has me a little mad. Those things combined with the fact that I can’t get ahold of someone in a timely manner is not the type of experience I want from a bank where I have to depend on an automated phone service for anything of importance. I have no one’s name or number to use that part of the service that calls someone directly so…..I recently moved to Waco from Austin and now seems I have to drive back to Austin just to get my money out of this bank!!!! Very disappointed

UFCU is the best bank/credit union I’ve worked with. They are helpful when you go into a branch.Their fees are also lower than most, including the cost of a wire transfer, which is around half of that you pay at a bank.

Done with these guys for my business. The way they spring New systems and drop things like being able to transfer money is completely unacceptable. I’ve seen this twice in the last nearly 10 years as a customer and both times were not thought out. Then their systems don’t work, they don’t answer their phones, or email…. Just completely unprofessional.I’m disappointed, they used to be a good credit Union but now I couldn’t recommend them

UFCU has apparently been changing the way they function - for the worse. Not only did they try to pay all my bills before I got paid and mark them all insufficient funds, but they also have changed a system that worked really well in which the money was taken from the account the day the bill was scheduled to be paid and made it into a crappy check-writing service where you are at the mercy of whatever a-hole you paid bothering to cash your check in a timely way. The lady on the phone told me they expect us to balance our checkbooks. I don't even have a checkbook and eff that. It's 2023!!! Not 1980. And thanks a lot for immediately BLAMING ME for THEIR CRAPPY CHANGE and the the repercussions which will damage my life significantly. This change is terrible. Especially for someone with adhd who lives paycheck to paycheck. This will probably ruin my life. Bill pay that works well is the only thing that has saved me from being on the streets. I am so sad and disappointed at this change. Also the app made it extremely difficult to even figure out that they had sent my bill payments early and denied them for insufficient funds. Bad move guys. So sad. I've been a member since 1995 and have clung to it to dear life, but now I will probably just close it out. I'm so disappointed to have this majorly functional thing in my life just destroyed. They definitely weren't thinking of the working class or the disabled when they arbitrarily decided to mess up their members' bill pay.
