Opened an account here a few weeks ago. I deposited some cash into my account but for some reason my card kept declining. Once I called to see why, I was told my cash wouldn’t be accessible until the next business day. After a day or two of my card still not working, I randomly received a letter in the mail stating that my account was randomly suspended with no reason why. I’ve called the fraud department and went into the braker location with no explanation. Don’t bank here!

Worst place to get a loan multiple ways to make a loan payment and none of them work. Have trouble every month it's ridiculous.

I’ve been a member for 25 plus years, had some fraud activity on my card. Had to replace it there are five people working at this location. With two customers in the bank, been waiting here for 20 minutes.

I was a customer for probably 20 years but I am now disgusted with this bank. Their credit card collections practices are predatory. I got two months behind on my credit card after I lost my job and they froze my checking account on Saturday of holiday weekend. I couldn’t make a payment or get it resolved until Tuesday. My bad for getting behind but I didn’t realize they could “offset” your checking account. This made it impossible for me to pay my rent on time, cost me late fees, and multiple other issues. I made a payment and arranged for them to withdraw more on the first and assumed it was just a coincidence that it was on the holiday.
That is, until it happened again on the next holiday weekend. I knew it couldn’t be collections because we had an agreement and they had withdrawn 259 as agreed on the first two weeks prior. I spoke to multiple people on the phone Sunday who said your card us fine, keep trying it must be timing out at the vendor. Ended up having to leave my grocery cart because my card got declined the grocery store when I followed their advice. I was finally able to go in when they opened on Tuesday after rolling quarters all weekend, and turns out they don’t know about any agreement. I guess it was just a coincidence that 259 was the exact amount I had said they could withdraw a month before? So once again it appears they were holding my checking account hostage and wanted another 259 right then. Extortion. I guess they could see my little bit of money in my account so they jumped on it. As I said, predatory. If you’re already having a hard time they will make it worse, even if you make good faith efforts to resolve. Avoid at all costs.

I have been a member of Velocity Credit Union for a very long time and have always loved them. I went in to the branch on Braker Lane to open up another account and Fran helped me today. I loved working with her!! She is very knowledgeable, friendly, kind, and patient! I let her know I will always ask for her when I come in to the branch but she said she is usually downtown! Ask for Fran if you frequent the downtown location because she is so WONDERFUL!! Thank you for everything Fran!! I hope to see you again soon!

We visited here to open youth savings accounts for our kids. From what I can tell, Velocity has the best savings options for kids of any credit union in the greater Austin area. Some credit unions just don't offer them at all. Velocity's youth accounts are designed for 13 and under, and the bank offers a free Greenlight subscription (so you save $5 per month off doing it on your own), which allows you to deposit chore money and other funds directly into your kids' account (the only negative is that this actually doesn't link directly to your kids' Velocity accounts). They also have incentives throughout the year for savings as well as good grade reports. I will update my review once we've had the accounts for a while, but so far I am reasonably impressed with the facilities and customer service. This location didn't have a working coin counting machine, but the representative mentioned that the Round Rock and Austin locations do.

Curt and rude customer service from Valerie. Maybe velocity and their managers should have a written policy that they do not except coins as currency for a deposit and that their members need to travel to their local H‑E‑B to cash out coins.
