This vet here knows her stuff! She explains to you what the problem is and then she lays down the plan. This place, along with all the nurses are definatley one of a kind!

Dr. Yu-Speight and her team are some of the best vets, vet techs, and office staff in town. She is very meticulous and cares deeply about animals. She is willing to go the extra mile, not just to treat the animal's eye, but to determine the underlying cause, which can be non-eye related. She treated our dog for glaucoma for the past 5 years. She's the one who ordered the tests to help solve the mystery of why she developed glaucoma, and then treated it. We ended up removing one of our dog's eyes and getting a prosthetic eye that looked almost real due to the way she does the surgery. She also prescribed a battery of eye drops that sustained our dog's other eyesight in her remaining eye, until her death, about 5 years later. I don't think our dog would have lived as long as she did or retained her eyesight without the team at the Veterinary Eye Center. Thank you Dr. Yu-Speight and team, you made big a difference in our lives, and our dog's life. The picture attached to this post shows Bailey about 2 years after her eye surgery.

Dr. Audrey and her staff are so kind, caring and compassionate! You can tell Dr. Audrey is at the top of her field by the way she talks and explains things. It's stressful enough taking your pet to the vet, but a specialist in eyes is even more worrisome. She is friendly and makes you feel comfortable and hopeful.

I've gone back and forth about posting a review. In the end I felt it was only fair to other animal lovers to know about my experience.I moved from the DFW area and needed a new eye doctor for my dog. She has retinal detachment in one eye. Since diagnosed, I administered 2 eye drops twice a day. Upon my initial exam, my meds were increased to 4 medications, (serums and drops), 4 times a day. Of course, no problem I'll do whatever I need to do to make sure my dog isn't in pain. Second visit I was told surgery was inevitable and it's better to do the surgery when the dog is younger. So, I scheduled the surgery.Side note, last time my dog had surgery she reacted to a medication after surgery, waking up so I was quite terrified of putting her under again.A few weeks later, we were at the groomers. The groomer said she had dogs all the time that had retinal detachment and encouraged me to get a second opinion. While I'm not going to name the new doctor, he has been incredible. Not only does my dog not need surgery but the medications were reduced to once a day!! Even better??? I swear her eye looks better and she's happier. That's my story. While the staff was very nice & professional, I wouldn't go to this doctor again if someone offered me a winning lottery ticket.5 years later, still no surgery and her eye is doing very well!! Still reduced to 1 drop a day versus this clinics suggestion to remove her eye or give 4 different medications. So happy to have found such an amazing doctor before removing her eye with unneeded surgery. I suggest staying far away from this clinic!

I had the absolute best experience at this vet clinic. PLEASE go here if your pet is having eye issues that a normal vet-clinic cannot manage. Dr. Audrey Yu-Speight is truly amazing and her practice is a reflection of this.My dog saw 2 other ophthalmology vets who unfortunately incorrectly diagnosed him. Dr. Audrey Yu-Speight had a gut-instinct that my dog had a "bigger-picture" bodily infection (rather than just an eye issue). Because of her thorough diagnoses process and amazing medical skills, she discovered he had an underlying condition (leptospirosis) that could become toxic if un-treated. The eye-infections and symptoms he endured were just side-effects of this. Boone is doing MUCH better now thanks to the help of Dr. Yu-Speight. She saved his life and we are so thankful for her patience and deep care for him. Thank you thank you!The entire staff and facility is amazing as well. I've never experienced such patient, nice and professional medical staff. They go above and beyond. Thank you! We owe you forever.

Dr. Yu-Speight is one of the most knowledgeable, caring and conscientious doctors I've ever met. Our french bulldog had developed glaucoma from complications of cataract surgery. She was kind, patient and presented all options to us in a detailed way. She helped us make the right decisions for his treatment and ongoing care. I don't think we can thank her enough for helping us navigate through the difficult times we have had with our Frenchie's care. We are so lucky and blessed to have found her and her caring staff at the Veterinary Eye Center.

This group helped me so much that I am dearly grateful regarding my dog. All is well now with him and I must say Mandy was a Godsend, and Katie was very helpful. What a great group. You would be honored to work with them with your pet. Thank you so much

Dr. Yu-Speight is one of the most caring, conscientious and knowledgeable doctors I have ever met. She helped us navigate through some very tough times with our french bulldog who developed complications from cataract surgery. I am so grateful to have found her and her kind and caring staff at Veterinary Eye Center. I don't know how we could have made it through without her guidance and care. Austin is so lucky to have someone of her calibre. She has to be one of the top Veterinarian's in the country.

I can’t say enough about Dr. Yu-SpeightI took my older pekinese in to see about cataract surgery. My dog was seriously visually impaired due to cataracts.Dr. Yu-Speight diagnosed my dog with glaucoma, which I was completely unaware of. She prescribed glaucoma drops to lower the elevated eye pressure. My dog was also diagnostically tested to have vision in both eyes, albeit obstructed vision due to the cataracts.I pressed her for cataract surgery, as soon as the glaucoma was managed. She did not recommend the surgery, she was clear about that. She stated that my dog was a “guarded candidate” due to the glaucoma, and cataract surgery had a high probability of blinding my dog at some point after such a surgery, and that my dog could actually lose one or both eyes also, if things went south.I ended up going elsewhere for the cataract surgery. I shouldn’t have. My dog saw clearly for 1 week following the surgery, then it went south after that. 1st week, my dog lost vision in her left eye due to inflammation and a glaucoma spike. Then 4 months later, her right eye wasn’t draining properly, as a result of the surgery, so she had a shunt installed behind the eye to promote drainage.3 days ago the right eye became suddenly infected, possibly from the shunt itself (pathology tests to confirm cause) with an eye infection so severe that the infection was inside of the eye. Today she was tested to have lost all vision in that right eye, so now she’s totally blind, not just visually impaired as she was prior to cataract surgery. And, if antibiotics can’t penetrate the eye to kill the infection, that eye will need to be surgically removed to remove the infected eye relieve the pain. So, bottom line: Dr. Yu-Speight was correct in her initial assessment of my dog being a bad candidate for cataract surgery. Everything that she said could go wrong, did go wrong. We are obviously regretting that we didn’t take her advice, and avoid this risky surgery. Now our dog is in total darkness and is completely dependent on us. Before, she wasn’t. What a huge mistake we made for our poor dog in trying to improve her vision through cataract surgery. If you’re in a similar situation, I’d advise you to listen to Dr. Yu-Speight. She’s a good Opthamalogist and she knows what she’s talking about. She will make the right decision for your pet. He goal is not to profit from performing risky surgeries (and it is expensive).

My pug has a cyst on her eye lid and the receptionist refuses to schedule her to be seen without an outside referral, even know I explained we don’t have a vet, because my dogs have been healthy. They want to provide this blah blah blah we’re a special clinic nonsense.I’m not going to pay for an outside exam, then pay again for this vets exam when they’re already charging over a grand for the excision.I know more about my dogs health than some provider. She has a benign cyst on her eyelid, that could potentially grow to obstruct her eye, that needs to be removed.I don’t need to pay twice for some quack to tell me what I already know. Let’s just get to business.

Dr. Yu-Speight and her team set us at ease right away! Since we are fulltime travelers, living on the road with our puppy dog always worries us when it's time to find a vet, not to mention a veterinary eye specialist. We searched all over, from Nashville to San Antonio, and we could not have been happier with our experience with Dr. Yu-Speight. Highly recommend her patience, enthusiasm and desire to provide us with the best possible care.

Dr. Yu-Speight is a hero in our household. When we adopted our greyhound Duke, we were told by his fosters in Dallas that he would be on eye medications and drops his whole life, including daily antibiotics. Dr. Yu-Speight promptly modified his plan and we saw her often - to check progress with new medications and for some small "emergencies" that popped up. She helped us navigate other vets due to simultaneous dermatology and cardio issues. During the course of his treatment she suggested surgery - parotid duct transposition - for both eyes. We were hesitant about a major surgery, but she was incredibly patient in describing the process and answering tons of questions during long phone calls. She also kept trying more medications to delay as long as reasonable, until everyone felt confident he really needed the surgery (our boy was in a LOT of discomfort and risk of major scratches despite constant care - constantly kept his eyes closed due to pain). I believe we had to postpone his surgery three times due to additional health scares she detected (better safe than sorry!!), and each time she was wonderfully gracious and helpful in navigating what to do. In the end, Duke had his surgery, a few months ago, and he is truly a brand new dog. So confident, comfortable, and happy. Recovery was tough but Dr. Yu-Speight prepared us well. We could not be more pleased with the results and are so grateful for the affection everyone has shown our pup. Thank you so so much for giving Duke so much more to live for!

I'm so grateful every day that I chose Dr. Yu-Speight to take care of my kitty. He had bilateral eyelid agenesis and even with the pandemic, she was so patient and informative in the video conference, explaining his condition in a way that was easy for me to understand. I could tell she cared deeply for her patients, and answered all my questions and concerns. She even gave me a call after hours the night after his surgery, which I was so thankful for because I was in panicked tears when my Houdini of a kitty escaped his cone! Without hesitation, she told me to bring him in the next morning so they could modify it just for him and told me how I could help him in the meantime. The folks that work at the center are also incredibly wonderful; Yvette and Ana answer the phone with professionalism and care, and Jennifer was wonderful bringing my kitty back to me and walking me through medication care. It's obvious everyone at this center puts your pet's care first and wants you to feel comfortable and informed. I cannot recommend this center enough. Thank you everyone who teamed up to care for my Frisk! ?
