If there were negative stars that I can put to review Zipcar, I would. First of all, my car that I paid for did not show up. I then had to purchase a new car that was at a separate location with a price of 200. 20 minutes into our trip, our tire split in half with no indication on the car. We then had to buy a 300 dollar new tire and they will not reimburse us even though we almost died from their extremely unsafe car. Then I found out they charged us 464 dollars for the car that was a piece of shit. They have horrible customer service and will not reimburse us anything. Do not use Zipcar even if your life depends on it.

Convenience does not always equal value; and zipcar has proved it is not worthy of being called either. The app is dated, service horrendous, and the overall experience can only be described as appalling. Today was my first experience and after booking the car and arriving to the location, the car was no where to be seen. Tried to cancel the reservation so I can book another one, but was told I will not receive a refund. Currently on the line waiting for someone to pick up, but it's already been 30 minutes and my reservation is now 25min late. If you're like me and have a tight schedule and need something dependable... Stay away from zipcar. I now need to call an Uber just to make my appointment. Completely absurd.

DO NOT DO ZIPCAR. I did a free trial and have called 4 times to cancel my membership and have been on hold for over two hours, no exaggeration. The only way to cancel is on the phone and the hold is is ABSURD. If I could give it zero stars I would.

Terrible service .... our midtown location is surrounded by apartments.... my own building has 2 zip car spaces ... notice I say spaces... there are no cars there!!!! Hasn't been a car here for 2 1/2 months !!! Originally had 2 cars , then 1 , then none ...1 car came back and was broken down.. customer service told me they had to order a part.. more than a month later car still there covered with dust ... then it disappeared...spoke with regional manager.. we got 2 cars ... for a week ... then one disappeared... then the other was rented long term.... had many other problems... returning late ... another time someone took the keys home ...2 days to return them ... got a credit ... but needed a car ... have given up ... MARTA works better.... don't waste your time ... am about to cancel.... and place a sign in the Zipcar spaces "out of business "

Don't use this service if you need a car for work. I scheduled a meeting and gave myself an hour before I had to go. I scheduled a car at 12 (meeting was 30 min away and started at 1:30). Get to the Zipcar location at 12, no car. 12:15, no car. I call Zipcar and the car was still not there. I got a refund but there were no other available cars. Unreliable and frustrating. It's a good idea in theory. However with back to back reservations they need a backup. I had to reschedule my meeting and it was not worth all the hassle.

Wasted $150. First of all, we had to pay extra for more miles which was an inconvenience but also the zipcar gas card in the car wasn't even working so we called the call center and they were so unfriendly and hung up on us. They said to compensate they will give us $10 ZIPCAR CREDIT like thats gonna do anything when their vehicles are all around $100 and we just paid for our gas with our money. Ridiculous. Also the car smelled extremely fishy and was in terrible condition we had to go to the closest store and buy air fresheners. Please save yourself your time and money and dont take ANY chances with their cars.

I have to join the other "1 Star" club members who belong to Zipcar. I joined a month ago through my organization and I've now rented twice and had issues both times. My first rental was at 7:30pm but the driver before me didn't return until 8pm. To be fair they gave me a credit but when I rented again, the car died and it is still parked where I left it. "Customer Service" told me it would be 30-90 minutes for a tow truck which never came. I rented the car for two hours and dealt with the roadside assistance people for another 12 hours and it didn't get done. Super unhappy with Zipcar.

Latest development: Zipcar did not end up reimbursing the fare because we "drove the car". That's right. We drove the car for a few minutes before noticing the problem, wasted several hours of our time to jump through the ridiculous hoops that Zipcar had set up to return the vehicule, and are now paying for this privilege. Unbelievable!...

If I could give below one star I would. Stay far away from zipcar as possible, great concept but in the end way more expensive than uber with its hidden fees and car maintenance issues. I intended to take a zipcar and it was returned to me 30 minutes later than expected which in turn, I ended up returning late as well. In addition to that the car smelled of marijuana and wouldn't start when I was on my way back which was in part why I was late. I called zipcar as soon as I could to be reimbursed for this issue however they are reluctant to reimburse me the $50 I was robbed of due to a lateness fee (they must've wanted me to speed back to my destination or call them while I was driving which is illegal), a $35 bank fee (they sent my account into overdraft by not notifying or sending a statement before charging my account), and at least a portion of what I paid to rent the car (I don't feel as though I should have to pay for the time I spent on the side of the road trying to jumpstart their car and airing the smell of marijuana out). In total they've costed me $140 on a trip that should have only been $30. Stay as far away from zipcar as possible.

I wish there were more locations, but I'm pretty happy with the service here in Atlanta. I started using Zipcar in Boston, and kept my membership when I moved down south. I am able to walk or MARTA almost anywhere, but sometimes I need a Zipcar to get something at IKEA or pick up a friend from the airport in style. Zipcar rates and ease of rental are ideal in those situations. For rentals longer than 6 hours, it may be worth the hassle of going to a rental agency, because the price gets out of hand. I never really use more than $10 worth of gas, and car rentals can be $50 a day with insurance, while Zip is about $70-100 a day. I feel for the other reviewers who had poor customer service, esp. the one who had difficulty getting gas. But, the times when I have had to call customer service, they have been prompt and helpful and reasonable.

One of the best transportation services to sign up for, and pay money for. Grocery trips, quick errands on your day off, weekend car ride to eat out and shop in the city, car towed, take grandma to her appointments, running around for party planning, etc. Whatever reasons you can think of or that may come up in life I'd suggest Zipcar to any and everyone who may need independent travel for a certain amount of time. While you're out they even text you 30min before it's time to return the car to see if you need more time. You can text back with however much time you need and you're set to go with a confirmation text a few seconds later. Free gas, and $9 insurance waiver with many different car models and rates to choose from hourly to daily. When signing up they have a pay as you go plan, $6 a month plan, or a annual plan of $60, and this service is offered world wide. There are instructional videos and Q&A about all you'd need and want to know about using the service. Their phone customer service are very personable and helpful with whatever on the go concerns you have. The mobile app is really easy and convenient to use. The only few things I can point out as minor flaws are the car not matching the color of the car model you pick to rent in the picture, keys not being attached to the car like instructed in the instructional video on their website, having never driven a car with the chance to Sync my phone with the car there wasn't a instruction pamphlet or anything on how to do that once I got in the car, the locale instructions of the car were close to the car, but yet a bit vague (even though I know they were for privacy and protection purposes of the company). I love the fact they wanted straight forward feedback about my experience, and gave me credit towards my next car rental. I even got a discount for having the car late at night which cut down my charge for my usage greatly.

Zipcar is A-MAZING ! I don't know who would ever rent a car when you can Zip. I love the all inclusive experience (i.e. gas, insurance, etc.). And when I'm done, I drop it back off. No harm. No foul. No hassle.
